Read the 1-Star reviews here and on YELP as it was exactly my experience. Poor installment, started to peel, reached out to Piotr while he promptly stopped answering my calls after promising a warranty. Taking advantage of trusting Chicagoans.

I hired this contractor for a bathtub repair, and while the initial work seemed okay, the results didn’t last. Within a couple of months, the paint started chipping. I contacted AP Refinishing and scheduled a time for a follow-up repair, but the contractor never showed up and has since ignored all my calls. Completely unprofessional and a waste of money. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere—save yourself the frustration.

The technician was very polite and painstakingly removed his boots after each trip to his van as to not get snow inside the house.  He did a great job taping off the bathroom so that no stray paint marred the walls or tub fixtures. I've let the tub cure for a few days and look forward to using it tonight. As of now, the finish looks pristine.

They're very good. They responded very quickly.  We were moving and were under contract.  We needed it fixed before we closed.  They came in very quickly and did a great job.

They were good. They were pretty straightforward. I liked them. The job was pretty clean.

7/6/14 UPDATE: A two inch section of the enamel is starting to come up around our tub drain. It's only been seven months since we had the job done. I will contact them tomorrow and hopefully they will come out again to fix the problem. I will update once I know more.


1/10/13 UPDATE: AP came out today to fix the enamel spray spots on the horizontal surfaces in my bathroom. They were punctual and apologetic. The bathroom seems to be back to how it was before but now with a shiny, new-looking bathtub. The only reason I did not change their grade to an A is because they should have protected my surfaces during their first visit so I didn't have to stay home for a second visit. If I could rate them as a B+ I would, as the bathtub looks great, they were on time for both visits, and they kept the smell to a minimum. I just feel that the requirement of a second visit is significant enough to make a note of.


1/8/13 UPDATE: Peter called me on Sunday because he had seen my review and was upset that I had had a bad experience. He wanted to come out right away and fix the enamel spray residue in the bathroom. I have an appointment in two days. I'm changing their grade to a C for now because he seems genuinely concerned. Hopefully I can raise it even more after Friday.


ORIGINAL REVIEW: AP did many things well, but unfortunately they made a mess of my bathroom so I am giving them a bad overall grade.

First what went well:

AP was on-time and inexpensive. They vented the bathroom out my bedroom window so the house didn't smell as bad as I've been told it could have. They did cover my brand new tile surrounding the tub so it wasn't ruined.

Then what went wrong:

They didn't cover the rest of the bathroom. I have what looks/feels like a fine mist of enamel on every horizontal surface in the bathroom (doorknob, toilet paper holder, sink, toilet). There are also two big drips of enamel (about pea size) on the bathroom floor. I can't get them up. The last thing is small, but where one of the chips had been the surface isn't completely smooth - there are two little divets.

Although AP did a good job on the tub, I would not use them again because they did not protect the rest of my bathroom.

AP came in and did a great job. This was a repair job for a failed job that "Miracle Method" did for me (don't use Miracle Method! They don't stand behind their work, especially at the corporate level!). Peter and I discussed the process, the price, and scheduling, they came in and did the job, no surprises, great finished product, great clean up, great price too.

Our guy was on time, friendly, and professional. He did a great job; the tub looks like new. He also told us not to use bleach products to clean it, so that was nice that he told us here how to maintain it. The website does give 10% off for new customers. Overall good experience and would them.

Arrived on time. Worked continually and efficiently. Gave proper care instructions. Allowed to dry and cure over night. Cleaned up after job finished.

what i truly liked - before they start the job, they protect everything around, so i didn't worried that some stuff will damage! During preparation and painting process, they install exhaust system to avoid bad smell all over the house. They protect my tiles around the bathtub, and got this job done in couple of hours. They left my bathroom really clean and ready to use next day. everything goes very fast and without any problems.
