I had Illinois Valley Insulation at my house to blow in insulation in my garage attic. I was told by the owner Scott Bickett that I needed an R30 value which means I would need about 8 1/4” of insulation blown in. He was paid in cash($1500 paid in full but only did half the work), and a couple of days later I went up there and measured and only have about 4 1/2 inches so he only did about half the work and charged full price. And when I confronted him, he told me there’s8 to 10 inches up there which is a lie and I’ve given him every opportunity to call come by Measure and prove to me that is there, but he has failed to do so because he is just proving my point that he is in the wrong. And now he still will not provide me with a receipt so he’s trying to keep the cash and hide it like he didn’t do the Work very unprofessional.

Great experience! Team did great in explaining what insulation I had in the attic, what they were blowing in, and how it'd help out in maintaining temps in the long run. Finished job in 1 day. Would highly recommend!

Scott has no idea what he is doing. He talks a good game but his work is awful. He will steal your money so do not pay him any money up front like I did. I would not recommend him to anybody.

Homeowners Beware!! Scott Bickett was hired to insulate our home and to clean duct work. He told me he could do the job and could fix the problems we were having with condensation. He told me he has seen this issue before and he could fix it 100%. He will give you quite the “pitch”. You may think hmmm this guy seems to know his stuff....but BEWARE bc it’s all part of his scam! He did the insulation and after he was done we noticed we were still having the same problem with condensation. He told me he would come out one more time and one more time ONLY. He has never come back. I have messaged him and I do have the messages to back my statements up. He will give you every excuse in the book as to why his job isn’t complete. I recently had a contractor up in my attic and he took pictures and showed me that what Scott did was not done correctly. So because Scott did not insulate my attic correctly there is still an insulation problem. So then I called another contractor to confirm....again this contractor told me the exact same thing...Scott did not insulate correctly and you have an insulation problem. I notified Scott that I have had contractors up in my attic and that his job was not done correctly. And as for the duct work.....that was not done properly as well. When I noticed that I did contact Scott as well....he actually admitted that he did not clean my duct work in my bathroom. I have this in text messages as well from Scott himself. As for a reason why he didn’t complete that he does not say. But he was paid to do it and he did not. I now have to correct the insulation. The contractor that I am hiring to fix the mess that Scott left has told me this isn’t his first time cleaning up after Scott. Oh and don’t let me forget to add how he had a sub contractor install a vent fan and that was all messed up as well. We also had no insulation around the vent! According to Scott when I notified him about there being no insulation above the vent he told me I was being “bs” that he did insulate. But when I notified him that my entire attic was not done correctly he could not respond. I will warn everyone about Illinois Valley Insulation-Scott Bickett. He is out ripping homeowners off. I have all of his messages and I have pictures to prove that his work is not acceptable. If Scott Bickett was an honest man he would admit to his mistakes and fix them.

"As for this statement........! WE DID return and once customer "forgot " we were coming and was not available. 2... we asked for WHO contractors were and pics and PROOF..we received NOTHING. They wanted work done IN SUMMER when NO condensation could ever be detected( they didn't comprehend that) 3 THE BBB THREW OUT their complaint!4. they were told again and again the problem was a ventilation problem( you do NOT GET 43 % humidity from "insulation". again they did not understand that. This is a matter of not understanding simple instructions. and what we believe to be bogus details THEY EVEN ADMITTED 99% of the problem was solved!! We came back at one point when customer said there was a "huge spot" in the ceiling 2 hrs later we arrived and NOTHING.. we sent photos to customer. We are sorry they have been taken advantage of by other contractors. We suggest anyone wanting check out our A+ rating with the BBB and we are Torch award nominees since 2014!"

"(Member name removed) is simply NOT telling the truth, 1. if we were so "over priced" why did you hire us? 2. at the time we had ONLY 2 personel o this job...EVER. ( we ony had TWO employees at this time) so that statement is untrue also. 3, we called ONCE to see if we coud come "the "day of" because of a change in schedual that we were NOT IN CONTROL OF. When contacted broadbent said "it was absolutly fine" now he comes up with this? insisting that we work in our stocking FEET made the job go much slower i will admit."

Some places couldn't be reached as well as he thought.  Furnace duct, water pipes.  Scott told his worker, just aim the wand and feel where the foam should go.  So I don't even know how those areas look.  The visible ones looked fine when he left.  Just after 3 days did the foam start shrinking, or pulling away from the corners and edges.

Response from Illinois Valley Insulation
"this reveiw is not honest NOR is it at all accurate. for one these ppl WOULD NOT let us get to even see work unless it suited THERE schedule. We told them we would MORE than be happy to came back and see what happened as foam sets up with in seconds, THEY had appt and I told them we would contact them with in 2 weeks and see what the problem was ..with in ONE week we got a call asking when! WE informed them it had not been two weels yet and we still had another to go. ( mind you we were told that we could ONLY see job on a Friday) We tried our best to meet this. WHEN we got there at 9 am ( it had stormed that AM) NO ONE would come to door even tho there son / son in law was in bed. THE WEEK BEFORE was when were told of the DR's appt for THAT fri ..NOTHING was mention of this day! Sorry for any confusion on there part but we can not help that.If we were so bad WHY DID WE COE AT ALL to rectify what THEY CLAIMED was a problem. Lest THEY forget they claimed there walls were also UN INSULATED and we discovered they were in fact done! Our offer to still come and look at problem and fix IS STILL on the table."

This was the best $$ I spent! I contacted Scott to inquire about an energy audit. We set up an appointment for him to come see the house and discuss my specific concerns. Scott explained to me the "blower door test"  and discussed a Ameren Illinois program that I may have been eligible for due to being an Ameren gas customer. The "blower door test" was amazing, as I was able to see through the thermal imaging camera where air was escaping my home. Scott and his crew weather stripped, sealed some of the ductwork in the basement, chaulked around pipes & wall sockets, sealed other openings, added insulationm to my attic crawl space and the basement box sills. Scott also checked for gas leaks around the house. I was also given other suggestions to make my home more energy effient. Scott and his crew came to my home on four different ocassions. He was very flexible to work around my availability. Scott and his crew were professional and friendly. My 10 year old son was home on one of the work days and they answered his questions as to what they were doing and why. Always a PLUS with this mom if you are nice to my boy! : ) After the box sills were sprayed in the basement, our CO2 detector kept going off...Scott came back the next day with his CO2 detector to check to see if there was a leak or if there was just a film of dust from the spray insulation that was causing teh problem. He went above and beyond to ease my worries. I was very pleased with my experience and I highly recommned Scott and Illinois Valley Insulation for their service! He is very knowledgable and I valued his opinion on the other suggestions for energy efficiency!
I really don't think my review truly gives justice to how happy I am with the work completed by Illinois Valley Insulation!

I originally asked Scot Bicket to figure these items for insulating and insulating the house side walls. this would require drilling through cedar lap siding and the stucco underneath the siding. Scot chose to split this job in half, doing the crawl spaces, rim joist and attic on one day, after completing this portion he asked for 50% of the bid price. He had explained that the drilling and filling of the side walls would be the most labor intensive and would need a full day to do this and he would return to do this, but wasn't sure exactly when. when the crew returned to do this part of the job, it turned out that the house already had steel wool in the side walls and he would not be able to complete this portion of the work. I asked for a partial refund to more accurately reflect the portion of the work that he had actually performed. He said he would have to go home and get his paperwork and calculate this bill again. I have never heard from him since. I contacted the Attorney General and filed a complaint, which has never been resolved. I subsequently checked the court house records and found that Scot Bickett has had a number of complaints filed against him and he has paid none of the judgments from the small claims court rulings. I had checked his references and it turns out they were bogus.
Response from Illinois Valley Insulation
"First off let me respond to this review as being full of holes and simply not true in its content. WE DO NOT do any work without the agreed upon down payment first. Also, the amount this person paid COVERED the work done in phase 1, he simply could not understand that what he paid COVERED what was done, even after extensive explanation. He had a history of complaining about work he hired to be done and then trying to wiggle out of either paying OR trying to get it at a much reduced price..( he shared this with us on his front sidewalk!) We did not settle for his shenanigans. You will note that we have other reviews on here that are "A" rating's. The matter of the att general? IT WAS THROWN OUT BY THEM due to the evidence we provided. We were exonerated of ANY wrong doing. Furthermore Ill Valley Insulation HAS NO SMALL CLAIMS JUDGEMENTS against it of ANY KIND. We are truly sorry for what transpired, but we did what were hired to do, did it in a prof manner, and you can rest assured that the other reviews more accurately indicate how we do things. Thank You for letting us set the record straight."
