custom cabinets

They put in custom cabinets and I would say a week or two after installation we already had issues with the drawers. The drawers literally fell off the tracks and were broken at the seem. They sent someone out to fix them and then after a month or two they broke again. My husband attempted to fix them but they haven't stopped breaking since then. This past spring one of the drawers in the island broke (literally collapsed). They told us to bring them in and they would fix them. We didn't think that we needed to bring them in considering they had been an inconvenience to us to from the beginning. The drawers that have collapsed had nothing heavy in them, literally bags and foil. We felt like it was a bate and switch because we would never have purchased this product if we knew how terrible the quality was. They refuse to do any repairs unless we bring the drawers to them. Even then, what will that do if the quality is THIS terrible.
Description of Work: They put in cabinets for our kitchen.

This matter was first addressed approximately two months after the cabinets had been installed in the home, in January of 2008. A couple of the drawers had broken. We did not question how they had broken, how they had been used or the weight of objects that were being placed in them. We repaired the broken drawers. The matter was closed. Approximately, June of this year, the member calls my office, using foul language, threatens to go to the media, demands his money back and files a complaint with the BBB stating that all his cabinets are falling apart. He later admits that he unjustly exaggerated his claims and admits that its a couple of drawers. This is case # 94312029 with the BBB. The member ignored the BBB's date to respond by and now has filed a complaint with your organization. The BBB has Closed this Case because they failed to respond. Since I worked with the BBB in this matter, neither myself nor Northstar should be continued to be defamed. They have now have joined your organization to continue this matter of slander. Please note, this matter has NOT been going back and forth for two and a half years. The last time we heard from the customer was back in 2008, (we resolved the matter) and then not again until recently. The member's notation on your form that the "Work Completed Date" is September I, 20 10; is incorrect. In reality, the builders of this home are our customers. The member's should be dealing with them on this matter. Because I have worked with this builder for many years, I dealt with this matter. After 2 1/2 years, I cannot and should not be forced to go and pick up a couple of drawers that are broken. It cannot be proven that these drawers have been broken since 2008. 1 value my customers, I value the workmanship of the cabinets shipped out to homes in the Chicagoland area. I have bent over backwards in many instances for my customers be it private homeowmers or builders. Proving that is my attempt to work directly with the member's instead of referring them to go to their builder, which is the correct protocol. This may be one of the cases that may not be resolved due to a lack of compromise... but not on my part. Should Angie's List choose this case as one to print, I am confident that many customers will note and recognize Northstar Custom Cabinets as fine cabinets that have been in their homes for many years with no problems!
