 + -1 moreThe experience went very well. Gary gave an estimate of $10,000. I live 120 miles from the house and he kept me informed by phone on any problems he ran into and when he found problems created by a previous contractor he told me what the problem was and what he needed to do to correct it. He also informed me when he needed to hire extra help and/or expert help. The reason we ran $3,000 over budget was 3 fold: 1st correcting the mistakes of the previous contractor probably added $1000-1200. to the cost; 2nd-we added the removal of an old deck and the building of a new one which added about $1,000; 3rd - he found termited which cost $970. to get rid of. There also a lot of little problems that come with a house that old. Gary took the time and effort to do the job right so that it will last for many years.
Description of Work: House repairs. The house was built between 1850-65 and had a lot of damage from water leaks. Gary stripped off the old siding, repaired internal wall damage, replaced rotted sill plates, redid the bay window which had a lot of rotten wood. He also corrected a lot of problems a previous roofing contractor had done because of poor workmanship. He also took down an old deck and built a solid frame for a new deck.
