We really like them. They are wonderful! We have nothing but wonderful experiences so far. They offer great classes and their tours are very organized and well prepared. The physician group that I go to is the Midwest Frontier for Women's Health and it's a clinic in Parkridge as well, and they are absolutely wonderful. We haven't been to the hospital recently, but for the tour and one class, it has been great. The doctors are just absolutely wonderful! We had a couple of little emergencies we had been into and they were able to get us in right away. The one in their office is very helpful and very courteous. Everyone is just wonderful. Honestly, we have no negative experiences with them.

I cannot rave too strongly of how great everybody was including my doctor. They are very professional, friendly, and patient-friendly. They were totally accommodating. They were just a terrific organization.

I had to wait for 45 minutes before I was taken to an exam room. No explanation from the staff, just wait.
Once I was admitted to the exam room Dr. Bernstein spent 5 minutes with me. When I told him I was seeking his advice due to a painful neck condition, his response was, ?what do you want from me?! What kind of a comment is this, from a doctor, really? How do you respond to this? This was followed by a 30-second exam consisting of a simple range of motion test (touch your left and right ears to you shoulder) and a prescription for an MRI. This was followed by the comment, ?if you want to see the MRI make an appointment, if you don?t care, call me.?
There was no discussion about why he thought an MRI was indicated, what less expensive alternatives might be available, or what, in his experience, might cause this type of pain. In short, his communication skills were nearly nonexistent! He gave the impression that this simple case of neck pain was beneath him and he didn't want to waste his time (or he couldn't make any money treating it).
The bottom line is I wouldn't recommend Dr. Bernstein to anyone. I was very disappointed in his lack of professionalism and apparent lack of concern
For what it?s worth, I?m a Registered Nurse, with advanced degrees and certifications. I?ve been practicing for over 30-years. In all this time, I?ve never met a doctor that I was less impressed with than Dr. Bernstein. Enough said!

One time I was brought in w/ a Subdural Hematoma, and was in ICU for three days. According to the person that came to the hospital w/ me, I was looked after very well. Some people don't like Lutheran General, but I have never had a bad experience at the hospital and have nothing bad to say about them...

It was very good. She was able to fit me right in. When you got something that's gone wrong and then you call up and they say they can see you in three weeks then the problem would have sorted itself out by then, but she was able to squeeze me right in.

After seeing another orthopedist who assured me my problem was muscular in origin, I followed the advice of a friend to see Dr. Bernstein because of his being viewed as one of the best in his field in the Chicagoland area. He performed the operation which eliminated my sciatic nerve pain, thereby confirming his diagnosis of disk herniation as the cause of my pain.
I did suffer a surgical complication that Dr. Bernstein asserts he disclosed to my husband, but I advised him afterwards that since it was me, and not my husband, who was his patient, it was his responsibility to disclose the complication and possible symptoms of such to me. I was not bothered that he disclosed the information to my husband, but suffered needlessly because I experienced these symptoms while my husband was at work when I was reluctant to disturb him.
Other than this communication problem, I am very impressed by Dr. Bernstein's skill as an orthopedic surgeon.

The hospital staff was overly responsive and compassionate to my daughters. The communication between the departments were very good. Their communication with me as well was very good.

Most folks who have been in an ER never want to go back. The wait is usually long to be seen unless you are a trauma or cardiac/stroke case. I didn't have a clue what was going on with me, but the staff somehow figured out that a sinus CAT scan was needed and as it turned out I had a very serious and extensive sinus infection. The scan and immediate treatment happened within 45 minutes of arrival and I was kept another 2 hours to be observed and receive some secondary treatment. I felt better almost immediately. The staff was friendly, compassionate, and very fast. I can't say I want to go back - EVER - but if I get sick, that's where I want to be.

They are an outstanding hospital. As big as they are they do not ignore you and I like that about them.

Very well. We had a scheduled c-section planned, but alas, the baby decided to come a day early. When we arrived at the hospital - kind of panicked, the staff was great about admitting my wife and getting the process going immediately. After the surgery, the care from the nurses was really exceptional. We didn't have such a positive experience at the hospital where we delivered our first child, and were expecting similar. We, my wife especially, were very thankful it was not. All the nurses were very patient and took time to explain everything, answer questions, and help the entire process.

The emergency room is absolutely fantastic. They are so caring and quick to respond. The doctors put my mother at ease so quickly. The techs and nurses are extremely good. I go out of my way to make sure that my mother is taken there in emergency situations. (Even paying more for private ambulances). I know that she will always get proper care. I really cannot say enough good things about this place.
