After finishing our garage door, large blisters formed in the finish, especially when the sun shines on it. I believe it is due to the dark ugly stain that the painter put on it, which we did not select. The door is destroyed and we now need to replace it. We have called them many times about this problem, but they do not return our calls. Also, the painter broke the outlet for the refrigerator plug and did not tell anyone about it, leaving the contents of the refrigerator to spoil. I had to replace the outlet. The painter when screwing in the dining room ceiling light base wrapped the wires around a post causing the wires to be pulled thru the conduit destroying the rheostat on the other end. I had to replace the rheostat. The painter also put a scratch in our dining room floor when moving furniture.

He re-plastered three rooms and they do excellent work. They are tidy as well and are very professional. I would definitely hire them again and I would highly recommend them.

Extremely well. Very professional work, done on time under difficult conditions (very cramped quarters). Meticulous clean up after the work was done.

Marty's crew at Crescent Plaster & Paint did a fantastic job painting all the trim on my home. Also, they cut out some rotted wood in my window frames and repaired them to increase their useful life. I thought I would need to replace the windows because they were starting to rot, but he was able to salvage them. He did a good job matching the existing color, too. He uses a high quality, outdoor Benjamin Moore paint. When I showed Marty my front door which was painted dark black, he pointed out that under the paint is natural wood. He sanded a bit of the door to remove the paint and underneath was a beautiful, thick-grained oak door. Instead of painting it black, Crescent was able to sand the entire door and then use a stain to really make it pop. At night, when the outside lights are on, you can my front door from the street and it looks really luxurious. I really appreciated his creativity and ability to notice that the door was wood. If it weren't for him, I would have had the door just painted black again. Because it was such a large project and it is getting late in the season, his guys worked over the weekend in November because we had some 65 degree days.

They are excellent. They are assisting with painting in the living room. Their work is flawless and I will use them again for my future projects. I highly recommend them. I see why they are in high demand because their attention to detail is really amazing.

The lead painter was great.  The other two painters left some painting unfinished, I want to call them back but husband said absolutely not. They damaged some portions of our 1920s french tile roof.  They did not alert the owner OR US to the problem.  It got all resolved in the end, but we were not very happy getting to that end.  They replaced wood where needed and during the job they found some replacement tiles that we own and attempted to use them without requesting our permission. It wasn’t until we heard them using a grinder to attempt to modify our tile to fit the section of the roof that they damaged that we became aware of this. We even told them NOT to walk on the roof - it's a tile roofs worst nightmare!  We were not happy.  Overall they did a good paint job, but they did not handle this job well.  The initial estimate was fair, but the final estimate was twice the original quote.  They were punctual.  I would rate them a C+, Angie's list doesn't have a C+ so I had to give them a B.  I might use them in the future, but it would be handled differently.  We would be much more careful to get everything in writing.  They did VERY poor cleanup on the exterior of the house. Paint chips from scraping EVERYWHERE.  They incorrectly repaired the tiles that THEY broke. The owner finally had Smart Roofing come out, they installed the wrong tiles and did so incorrectly. I'm glad we didn't use Smart Roofing because we were considering them for gutters and they told us they know how to deal with a tile roof! Sigh, why is it hard to get good quality craftsmanship these days without investing a fortune?

See above.  If you're not fussy about things, there are other painters that can be hired for less.  But if you have good quality woodwork you want to preserve, this company is worth every penny.  Sorrty, cannot recall what he charged.

They were really good and they did a really good job. He saw some other areas of stucco that were weak and he offered to do that all in one job. It took a little while to get somebody out but when they came out they did good work. It ended up being less than we thought, he was going to charge us for paint and he ended up not charging us for the paint because we provided the paint.

I thought they did a very good job. There were a couple of things that we wanted them to stain a little darker. They came back right away and took care of that. They did a very good job of matching the stain with the existing woodwork.

Marty was extremely responsive and his team was excellent. The work around the front door took about a week as the paint took awhile to strip. We wanted to maintain the existing woodwork and they did an excellent job of keeping it is good condition while doing this job. I was very pleased with all of the work that they did and would highly recommend this company.

Before the contract was signed, Marty called with concerns about whether he could complete the job in the time frame I'd requested, since he had other jobs ahead of mine and we were in for a long patch of rain. He was also concerned that his original estimate might be a bit low. I was changing the color scheme significantly and my cedar-sided building had not been restained for quite a while it might drink-in the the stain, thus needing additional coats of stain, beyond what he'd originally anticipated. This would increase both material costs, and labor costs, which would have to be passed on to me.He suggested that I contact other painting companies. If I didn't find anyone else to do the work, and was comfortable with the possible increase in cost, he said he would do the work. I appreciated Marty's honesty in telling me his constraints in completing the job per his original estimate.I found another painting contractor who completed the job within my time frame and budget.

The customer service was first class all the way through and they did a beautiful job on my home. The wood they replaced looks like new and I felt they were very honest about what needed to be done. I was left feeling that I got a good value for my money.

Marty returned my initial call in a timely manner. After I explained what the issues were with our walls, he gave us an estimate over the phone. This seemed odd at first but it was in line with the other 2 quotes that we had received so I figured he knew exactly what I was talking about. Before we made a final decision though, I asked him to come out and give everything a quick look. He came out on a Saturday afternoon which was extremely convenient. No surprises. The quote was the same as the phone quote. The job took no time at all and there was no drama or hidden costs. The crew was on time every day and showed up until the job was completed, also very congenial and neat. The work done is exceptional as is the service that we received. Well done.

SEEMED OK, IN BEGINNING. MARTY+CREW BEGAN WORKING WITH ONLY A FEW DAYS TO WORK. AS THE DUST SETTLED WE ASKED MARTY TO BEGIN PART 2 AND FIX PART 1 MISTAKES. PART 2 DONE. MISTAKES NOT FIXED. MORE MISTAKES FROM PHASE 2. IT WAS MONTHS BEFORE MARTY RETURNED ONLY BECAUSE WE HAD HELD BACK MONEY. HE RELUCTANTLY TRIED TO FIX HIS MISTAKES. UNFORTUNATELY HE ONLY COMPOUNDED THEM FINISHING MINOR DETAILS. AT THIS POINT, DAMAGED LIGHT FIXTURES ON THE FLOOR AND DUST IN OUR HOME FOR MONTHS, WE WERE FRUSTRATED. MARTY BEGAN TO SHOUT THAT HE WOULDN'T WORK UNTIL PAID. MY WIFE AND I PAID HIM IN FULL, AS A GESTURE OF GOOD FAITH, WITH AN UNDERSTANDING HE'D FINISH WORK AND FIX MISTAKES. IT WAS IN A CONTRACT. IT WAS HIS WORD. 6 MONTHS NOW. AFTER CALLS FROM US AND OUR ATTORNEY, HE'S NOT RETURNED. HE DIDN'T HONOR HIS WORD NOR ANGIE'S COUPON. MARTY BEGGED FOR AN ANGIE'S REPORT ALL ALONG. HE'S RIGHT. BESIDES COURT, IT'S A GOOD FORUM TO GET WORD OUT. '06 REPORTS FEW/TROUBLING! BEWARE!!! USUAL/TIRED REBUTTAL BELOW...
Response from Crescent Ave Plastering & Painting Inc

"Crescent Ave. Plastering & Painting, Inc. was hired by member on 3 separate occasions. Work on the last job was completed and approved by member on 10/14/05. The cost of all 3 jobs together did not add up to $17,000. The light fixtures, HVA C grills and door levers were not damaged when I left the job. He took these items off by himself prior to Crescent starting the job. Therefore he was supposed to install them himself. Crescent was hired to fix another contractor's work. The drywall (which we did not install) was not plumb. After each job was completed, he promised an A rating on Angie's List. I did not offer an Angie's coupon. After the Oct. 2005 job was completed, I informed him that we would be unable to work for him again. He spoke and treated my workers in a demeaning manner and they refused to return to his home. Around the first week of Oct. 2006, he started contacting Crescent to come and do touch ups. This was over a year since the work was completed and approved. I did speak to his lawyer and explained that the job had been completed over a year ago and it was done on a time & materials basis. I told the lawyer to fax a list of his complaints. I never received a fax. After this occurred, then a report appeared on Angie's List. The work was completed over a year ago. This man is incapable of being satisfied. I have many good reports on Angie's List with many repeat customers. Marty Orlando-President"

We were very pleased with the workmanship on this job. The work was started the day after Marty gave us an estimate! He even agreed to return a third day, after we buy a new piece of door trim. We have had Crescent Ave. do work for us in the past and would not hesitate to hire them again.

I know that Crescent painters have a good reputation, and I see his sign (that he is working on someones home) many times throughout the years in the Park Ridge area, so I knew he must provide quality work since so many people use his services. His crew didn't disappoint me, they all went above and beyond of what I had expected of them with every aspect of the service, I would highly recommend his service and will call upon him again in the future.
