Funeral Homes
Cooney Funeral Home recently handled the funeral arrangements for my mother. Her family has used Cooneys since at least the late 1950s. My mother's death was very sudden and making arrangements that day would have been much more difficult had it not been for the empathic, caring, and professional attitude of Gene Cooney. Throughout the process, Gene and Tom Cooney were there for us; the wake and funeral were organized flawlessly.
The wake was at the Park Ridge location. The location is very accessible and there are many affordable hotels and restaurants nearby (These were important to us as we had family coming in from outside the Chicago area). My mother looked wonderful; we couldn't have been more pleased. The chapel was spacious and had a separate family sitting room with a private bathroom. There was a large eating area in the basement.
Since the funeral mass was held at St. Hyacinth's Basilica on the NW side of Chicago, the decision was made to we met there instead of the funeral home the next morning. Gene was there promptly to direct the pallbearers, talk to the priest, and help the friends and family who attended. The funeral procession and graveside service were without issue as well.
Those who have been through this experience will understand how difficult it can be. Experienced, compassionate individuals like Gene, Tom, and the rest of the Cooney organization with whom we dealt, helped lift the burden. Hopefully, my review will help those reading it get through their rough time as well.
