Dan and his team did an amazing job building out our mudroom. They executed everything exactly as we wanted, and did everything quickly with great attention to detail. Excellent communication throughout. This is the second project we have used them for, and would highly recommend them to anyone!

Everyone always says a home renovation will be hell. I've never heard any encouraging words from friends or colleagues about the process- only that it will take longer and be more expensive than you think. Now I can laugh at those people because we had the opposite experience with Alumni Builders. Dan Nistor and his team of subcontractors far exceeded our expectations for a total gut rehab of our 1920s Evanston bungalow. He worked closely with our architect to help us redesign and dormer our attic, remodel our kitchen, enclose our front porch and update our basement. Dan is a very reliable, honest and steadfast person. He reminded me of the role I used to play as a doula, someone who would assist a laboring woman and their partner during pregnancy and childbirth. He always stayed calm, walked us through the steps, helped us assess options, gave us his opinion when we asked and helped us feel safe and confident through the process. Now we have this gorgeous house that has a whole new life ahead of it for our growing family. I just feel so lucky that we had Alumni Builders walk us through this very complex renovatoin. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. And if it wasn't such an ordeal to find all of my baking utensils after the move, I would make him and his family a three tiered cake. Thank you, sincerely, Dan and Ray and everyone for your honesty, tireless care and attention to detail. We are forever grateful.

If I could, I would rate Alumni Builders 15/10. When I think of our experience, I immediately think; trustworthy, transparent, seamless, quality, and the list goes on. Pre-planning of the project is clearly outlined and understood by both parties. Expectations are not only set, but now after working with Dan and team, I realize that expectations are equally met if not exceeded. If Dan says the project will take 1 week, it will take 1 week. If Dan quotes the work, you can expect to pay what is quoted. This is unfortunately a lost value in working with many contractors but not Alumni Builders! Now the actual work - absolutely beautiful! We are obsessed with our new deck. It's safe, functional, aesthetic, and maintenance free! We are so happy! Literally trying to find our next project so we can work with the team again!

Dan and his crews were fantastic to work with as we updated our 1906 home with new windows and doors, stucco and concrete repairs, exterior painting and new gutters, new roof for garage, and brought the balcony and back stairs up to code. Dan was excellent at communicating with us the details and timeline of what was being done. He worked with us to take care of areas that his experts brought to our attention that were in need of repairs. Dan's estimates were right on target. We look forward to working with Dan and his crews again this winter as we move indoors to work on the basement. I would highly recommend Dan and Alumni Builders to everyone.

Highest rating possible. You get a full itemization of costs, highest quality workmanship, attention to detail. Anything that may make you feel anxious you can talk through with them and get to a mutually agreeable solution. Great around the family, we were made to feel this job was their first priority. Very easy to control the price of the project since they donâ t push any products and you can discuss work to be added or subtracted. There were no surprises and we willingly asked for more work. From the time the work started it was 2 months with almost no work days of no activity. This is our go to if we ever have any projects again. We felt like we were being taken care of by the highly motivated team. We wish Alumni Builders well and would hire them again without hesitation.

They did a great job. Dan and his team were easy to work with. They did a great job and quoted the job completely upfront. Any unexpected items were discussed and agreed on mutually. Dan from Alumni Builders was excellent to work with on our first ever home project. He guided us through every step of the project and set great expectations. His professionalism and excellent communication were very reassuring of the progress of our project. He helped transform our basement to a great place for our kid to play and for us to get work done. No surprises, Alumni worked well with the city at each phase. All work was explained well, documented in the quote or change orders and completed as per explaination and on time. Could not be happier. This was a large remodel project on a hundred year old home. Work included adding a new bathroom which included the need for an ejector pit, new laundry room with cabinets and recreation space. Project required all new electrical panel, windows and architecural work. The teams were all very professional and respectful of our home. The work is high quality and we are very pleased how it turned out.

A few of the positives in working with Dan and his company: amazing communication and project management, accurate and fair pricing (including both initial quote and changes made during the working process), friendly and skilled tradespeople that show up when scheduled, excellent follow through with seamless ability to adapt to changes in either the scope or timing, as well as the effort shown to complete the project on time with as little disruption to your home as possible. Over the years, we have built several houses and lived through many renovations. Our experience with Dan and Alumni have far surpassed other builders and contractors. I highly recommend this company and would rate them more stars than five if allowed! We will use Dan and Alumni for all future projects and feel confident in telling others to rely on their expertise as well.

Our experience with Alumni Builders was amazing. Their work was excellent, and Dan was very communicative and responsive throughout the entire process. The crew was friendly and clearly experts at what they do. Dan provided helpful information about the project from start to finish, and was quick to let us know if any issues came up or they had to make any small adjustments. The project was completed on time and looks amazing. We will work with them on any other project we might do on our home, and I would recommend without reservation to anyone else.

Alumni Builders removed a walk-out balcony/portico above our front door and rebuilt it. We are very happy with how our project turned out. From the initial consultation, to getting permits, to doing the demo and rebuilding, Dan and his team kept us up to date so there were no surprises. Dan's recommendations were really helpful. The new balcony looks great and is actually sturdy and functional now. The new balcony really makes a positive difference in curb appeal. Along with rebuilding the balcony, Alumni installed a composite deck on top of it so we are not walking right out onto the roofing membrane. Everyone working on the project was friendly and on time. They also cleaned up any construction debris. We would highly recommend Alumni Builders, and would definitely use their services again.

We had a very positive experience working with Alumni Builders. The team was very efficient and the finished product was better than expected. I really appreciated Dan's guidance and recommendations along the way. We had obtained comparable quotes for our basement renovation project at the beginning and I think Alumni Builders provided excellent value.

Excellent project management and great communication with client. All steps of the project were scheduled in detail and completed as expected. There were many changes along the way, but these were appropriately estimated and communicated with great detail. Also great care was taken to keep the area preserved and clean and not disrupt the other areas of the home not under construction.

I cannot say enough about how positive our experience was. Dan and his team were incredibly punctual, clean, + professional. I was nervous hiring a company, nonetheless in the middle of a pandemic, and was just blown away by how easy they made it and most importantly the quality of their work. I will use them for every remodel we have in the future. I was relieved that I did not have to micromanage the project. If they said they would be there at 8am and they were going to get XYZ done... they were there at 8 and XYZ got done. I am so thankful to have found them.

Dan and his team were great to work with. We needed our basement to be waterproofed and redone, and Dan was able to knock out both of these jobs within our timeline, He was very responsive and he brought a lot great ideas and experience to the project. Dan always kept us informed about the project and he was flexible when some of our finishes took a while because of wacky supply-chain issues. We would certainly recommend Dan and his team to anyone.

I originally left a very positive review, but recently have completely changed my mind. Recently had a plumbing issue that turned the whole remodel sour. I am sorry that I hired them. I suggest no one else does.

We hired Alumni Builders to finish our basement. The owner, Dan Nistor, was extremely responsive throughout the process and would stop by every other day to check in on his contractors. The work was completed on time and budget as described in the proposal (very good detail to explain change orders as the project devolved). Dan quickly resolved any open items, assisted with decore choices, and facilitated material pick up both large and small.

Dan, the owner, was very involved, responsive and helpful. I recommend them very, very highly. In fact, I've offered to be a reference for them.

My wife and I hired Alumni Builders to build out our unfinished basement. The owner Dan Nistor responded promptly to our listing on Angie s List. He came out for a walkthrough within a few days, and provided an estimate shortly after. Dan is very professional, a great communicator, and was super helpful in keeping us on track throughout the project with the action items we needed to complete for the builders to stay on schedule. The project was completed during the pandemic, so my wife and I were both working from home throughout. The work crews were all very courteous to us and our neighbors, and they took seriously the social distancing and mask precautions that were needed in order to safely perform the job. They completed the project on schedule, and it turned out exactly how we envisioned it. Dan and his crews are very knowledgeable about their trades, and were able to come up with solutions to the few minor issues or concerns that we had. The customer service was everything you would hope it to be, especially for such a big investment. It was a great experience working with Dan and his team, and I look forward to connecting with them on future renovation projects.
