If you want your home damaged, disrespected, and have improper and poor, sloppy workmanship; then hire Masters Millwork. If you do not, then run far away from this contractor. Hiring and trusting Masters Millwork was one of the biggest mistakes we ever made. Unbeknownst to us, they ordered our upper level windows too small resulting in them massively overfilling the excess space with tons of caulk. When I pointed it out to Mark, the owner, the very day they did it, he assured me they would re do it once the caulk had dried for easy removal. Once Masters Millwork had our second installment of payment, Mark said he agreed it’s not a perfect caulk job but that’s the best Brian could do. They also left a huge, deep gouge in our stone ledge on our bay window. When I pointed it out to Mark, he basically shrugged his shoulders at me. They installed a window upside down so that the Andersen logo is in the upper left corner as opposed to the lower right. They left us with unfinished window trim that is covered in a dull, thick, and patchy residue that Mark, the owner, acted like he couldn’t see just so he didn’t have to do anything about it. Most of the window trim is not flush against the wall and there is no uniformity or consistency of where the trim was placed from window to window. On some windows it was placed 1/2 inch off, some 1/3 and some 1/4. Masters Millwork also led us to believe that the trim work came from Andersen but we later found out that wasn’t true. Mark never gave us a choice in trim, implying the trim was included in the Andersen package. Therefore causing us a huge expense because we weren’t able to order the trim we needed to replace because of the messy, haphazardly and incorrect way it was placed on most of the windows. The trim Masters Millwork used is no longer in the product catalog therefore we cannot order what we need. I’m sure the trim they used they had laying around in bulk. Mark Rot, the owner, was unresponsive to my numerous texts and even unresponsive to the multiple requests from the Andersen corporate office to get in contact with me. Because of that, we had to hire another contractor to correct their completely unacceptable, incorrect and poor workmanship. Masters Millwork employees didn’t cover anything when they installed the windows and months later I was still finding shards of metal and thin nails in my carpet. Masters Millwork employees didn’t wear shoe coverings, and walked all over our carpet with their dirty shoes. Mark Rot refused to give me their contractors license and surety bond so that I could file a claim. When I called the Village of Tinley Park, I found out their contractors license expired on 12/31/2014 and their $20,000 surety bond expired on 7/31/2015. Anybody who does work in Tinley Park needs to be current with the village and Masters Millwork was not. I also filed a complaint about Masters Millwork with the Better Business Bureau as well as the Andersen corporate office using their visual app tool to walk throughout my house showing them the improper and poor workmanship and the damage that was done. They were completely appalled. I will also be filing a complaint about Masters Millwork with the Village of Tinley Park.

Let me say this first, if you're thinking of using Masters Millwork, be sure to ask for references and actually go look at their work.
The process started off well enough with Mark gettting us a proposal. The price was in line with the other proposals we received, and we chose to go with Masters Millwork. Big mistake. This is a company that has been around for many years and the only knock on them was they were high priced. Reviews on Angies List didn't reveal any issues, so we thought we were in good hands. I Should have done my homework better. My mistake #1 .  The work was performed on 6/14/2012, and I stopped by at noon time to check the progress and everything looked OK at that time. Later in the day my wife callled, said they were done and was it OK to pay them. I said go ahead. My mistake #2. Lesson learned, no matter how much you trust a contractor, always hold some money back until the job is thoroughly inspected.
When I came home and looked at the completed installation, I was shocked. The caulking color they used did not match the color of the trim and it looked like it was applied by someone caulking for the first time. In addition, the aluminum cladding over the bay window had bent up edges on both sides. I Left a voice mail for Mark at 6:30 that evening explaining the installation was not acceptable and did not hear back from him. On the 19th, I arrived home and realized they had sent someone out to correct the problems without my knowledge. Instead of removing the wrong color caulk, they went right over the wrong caulk. This resulted in caulk joints approx. 1/2" wide"! An attempt to redo the trim above the bay window was made but it still was not right. I again left a voice mail for Mark stating my displeasure, and on the 20th, sent photos of the problems in an email to him. No response. Finally set a meeting for the 22nd but it never took place; no call or anything. He finally came out to look at the problems on the 29th. He agreed to have his "best caulker" and himself come out to make the repairs. After they were done, the aluminum cladding above the bay window is still not right, the caulk joints still are terrible, and I have white caulk above the dining room window where there is cream color trim. The caulking on all the windows looks like a kid did it. I could go on and on, but the truth is they just don't have the craftsmen that are capable of doing quality work. Even the wood trim on the interior is not right in several places. I'm still in disbelief at the terrible workmanship and their inability to correct it. It's been two months now since my last conversation with Mark, (with no response) and it's obvious they have no interest in correcting the problems. They have their money!
I would not recomend this company and have said that to those who have asked "who did your windows". The poor quality of work is unacceptable as is the lack of communication. Very unprofesional.

I chose this company because they carried the Therma-Tru door I wanted, they had the lowest of four estimates, and because they do not use subcontractors. I had them prefinish the fiberglass door/sidelites in an oak stain inside and out. They installed an oak frame (upgrade), new wood trim (inside and outside), all of which they stained and sealed. They matched all the stain exactly. The 3 1/2-inch oak molding they installed on the interior frames the door unit beautifully. The storm door was installed and works perfectly. The installers were punctual, neat (in both appearance and clean-up), professional, and superb craftsmen. I am very pleased with the look and quality of the product, but even more pleased with the quality of the work. As soon as the dust settles, I intend to contact this company to get estimates for replacement windows and a kitchen remodel.
