It is difficult to write this critical review; however we wanted to share our experience with using this company as a warning for others to give careful consideration before you sign a contract with them. I reached out to this company as a result of seeing some of their positive reviews on Angie’s List. Our initial introduction to them began with me calling and speaking to the son Kurt. He asked how I heard about them and I told him via Angie’s list. He then asked if I could first submit a contact request via Angie’s List as he would receive some type of extra credit and then someone would reach back out. I agreed and submitted my inquiry via Angie’s List immediately. Several days went by without anyone contacting me so I had to call again and I spoke with Kurt again. We needed to get our front concrete porch, steps and walkway replaced. The Father (his name escapes me) came out to assess our situation and provided what seemed like a fair estimate for the services they would perform. We were also re-designing the shape and angle of the walkway in front of the front porch so I asked how that would work and he said no problem he would be there the morning the concrete would be poured and together we would mark off the final design. We signed the contract in May and we were told the concrete would be poured by early Summer. We then waited several weeks and did not receive any updates. Then each time we called to ask when the work would be performed we kept getting put off and there was always an excuse. The Father told us at least a couple of times he was not in the office so he did not have the schedule to provide an update. Hello why couldn’t he access the schedule electronically? By August we were really getting fed up with getting put off. We had a major landscaping project we wanted to complete before the weather turned cold and that could not be completed until this project was done. We also had a 2 week vacation coming up so definitely did not want to be out of town for when the concrete would be poured since we needed to agree on the final design of the walkway. They finally called one day in September and said the concrete would be poured the next morning at 7:30am. We both took time off from our jobs. By 8:30 am no one had showed up so we called what we thought was the office number. Kurt answered and when we told him what was going on he angrily stated he was busy at a job site and that we would have to call his Father and deal with him. He gave me the number to call his Father. The Father stated that “the people in the office” messed up and were supposed to call us to tell us our job had been rescheduled for the following morning. I seriously doubt there were any “people in the office”. The following morning the crew showed up. However neither Kurt or the Father were anywhere to be found. The man who appeared to be in charge barely spoke English. After the concrete was poured the leader asked for the balance of our payment. I could not believe they were asking for payment when the porch railing had not even been re-installed as that could not be done until the concrete had hardened. How could they demand payment when the job was not even finished? The City would then need to inspect and approve everything once the railing was re-installed. We finally got the Father to agree to let us pay once the railing was re-installed and everything passed the City’s inspection. The concrete was guaranteed for one year. Like clockwork shortly after one year later the concrete now has several chips and ruts in it and no, we have not used any salt on it. We have now learned that many concrete contractors wait until they get the best bulk deal on their concrete. Therefore since our job was small that is likely why they made us wait several months and kept putting us off. We really would have appreciated them being honest from the beginning with expectations due to the timing. We were extremely disappointed at the poor service they provided as well as with the final product/job. Kurt in particular was rude and unprofessional to say the least.

Took awhile to get quote but eventually scheduled work and complete work in a timely manner per quote. Project went relatively smooth and crews were respectful of property. The following spring a crack appeared in walkway and I contacted Kurt to look at. Said it was due to some settling and couldn't do much to repair it. I asked him about cutting out a small section and replacing it. He wasn't willing to warranty his work and never followed up therefore I would caution anyone looking to utilize his services to think twice in spite of the mostly favorable reviews. The workmanship was mostly good however, I would advise anyone to use a more reputable contractor that backs up their work, as this one does not!
Response from K & K Concrete LLC
"Unfortunately concrete does crack and that’s what it supposed to do. Due to the existing conditions and the type of repair we provided for Steven cracking was in evitable and has nothing to do with our workmanship or craftsmanship. We did come out and take a look at the crack but there’s nothing we could do and I said by replacing a small section would just create an eyesore and aesthetically look unpleasant. Sometimes clients feel they’re entitled to get something replaced for free even though they are aware of the circumstances prior to doing the work and unfortunately we get held accountable for their final decision making."

Work was done quickly and professionally by a courteous employee. He cleaned up afterward. This was a small job but it was well done. I received a quote, a date was scheduled and the work was completed. I am happy to recommend this company.

Good overall. Would not hurt to do a better cleanup/dust protecting
Response from K & K Concrete LLC
"When working in tight quarters such as a garage, dust will be eminent due to the removal process. We try control the dust with plastic, but it will still get into areas within the garage. We also try to use air blowers to air out the garage more thoroughly. We will try to do a better job with the dust the next time we remove a garage floor."

K&K were great to deal with. They did excellent work. One of our friendly neighbors decided to write their initials in our new cement and K&K even came back and "erased" it for us. Will definitely hire if we need cement work in the future.

Well it's been a year since the work was done and the steps have held up very well! I am still very happy with how everything turned out. In terms of communication, Kurt was always professional and prompt with his responses, being very patient in answering my questions regarding K&K and the work to be done. I also really liked that his written proposal itemized (in-detail) the work and cost of what was to be done. Juan and his crew were very professional, even though it was a long day for them, they worked hard until the very end to get the job done properly. I think K&K is a great A+ company and would definitely use them again and recommend them to others.

The project, which was diverse and complicated, went very well. K&K provided a competitive estimate and worked with multiple owners on their site-specific needs. When the work commenced, it went quickly without any delays. Demolition and removal of old concrete was accomplished expeditiously, and the forms were removed shortly after the concrete set. The quality of the work, which was reviewed by an architect on our board, was outstanding. One resident noted that their work "exceeded expectations." Problems were dealt with in short order, and K&K went the extra mile (coming out on a Sunday to speak to residents in person) to satisfy property owners. We are already planning on employing K&K Concrete on our next project.
Response from K & K Concrete LLC
"The board members found us on Angies List and were very easy to work with. They were very understanding on how the work was going to be expedited throughout the property and helped us with posting "No Parking" notices in the areas of work. They even went a step further to locate a few owners who did not see the notices on making phone calls and emails in order to notify the owners to move their cars so we didn't have to call a tow company or stop work. We "K&K" and the board of the association was very happy on the work completed and look forward to working together on future projects."

Response from K & K Concrete LLC
"After speaking with the owner and the president of the board onsite and in person, this unit owner was possibly not fully informed on how the concrete was going to turn out as the finished product. We had been advised from the board to install a "California style" finish on the concrete common walk area with a medium broom finish so the traction would not wear away over time as some broom finishes do and when working with associations, every unit owner has different views or expectations on how the concrete should be formed or finished and we try our very best to make every individual happy. We had not met or talked with this particular unit owner throughout the entire rehabilitation process until now and so in the future we will do our best to make sure when working with associations that every unit owner who is getting work completed to be fully informed on how the install will turnout. Other than that, the job went very well."

It went very well start to finish. Our driveway was pitched towards the house,so all rain water and melting snow would pool against the house and seep into the basement. Kurt was very professional and informative the whole time. Very satisfied with the work and we'd definitely use K & K again.

I had contracted many contractors for this project. Some never called back, some had fewer idea than I about how to fix it and some were just scared of it. It was a little tricky to complete the foundation wall that did not exist. Kurt (from Kand K) was the only one who came with intelligent, multiple suggestions about how to approach the project without destroying an exterior wall.
The crew was professional, tidy and asked relevant questions when need be. They showed up exactly on schedule and when there was a cement shortage on the pour date, they mixed custom on site.
Really happy we kept looking and found Kand K.

The crew that Kurt had at our job was excellent. Santiago performed very nice finishing work and the stoops look great. My only complaint would be that Kurt was difficult to schedule to come out to the property, and took the job without visiting beforehand. Subsequently, I felt like I was being lectured by Kurt during a phone conversation on the day of the job when there was a bit of confusion over the details of the work to be performed. I felt like I was an employee of Kand K rather than a customer at that point. That being said, I realize that good concrete work is hard to come by and I appreciate that Kand K took our smaller-sized job which many companies on Angies List would not.

They answered our calls right away. They scheduled us as soon as the weather was right for the work. Performed the job well and the workers were polite. They cleaned up nicely. Didn't damage the evergreens. All in all they did a good job. Also, later on they corrected an issue I was being picky about.
