There was an unnecessary heated response when he was asked some simple questions.  Capacitor replacement did not fix problem($160) and wanted another $600 to replace blower motor.  $300 appears to be market price for the latter job.

Great Degrees! is a small company.  Bob King, the owner, installs the units with a helper.  He is very careful about details and spends a great deal of time correctly sizing the units and finding the best unit(s) for you (he gives several estimates).   He was very willing to work with us to find the best place to put the blower units in the apartments.  We had some problems with one condenser  (it seemed noisier than it should have been) and he kept on it until Lennox replaced it.

We heard a strange whirring noise and located the sound was coming from our furnace. I contacted Great Degrees and they were able to come out immediately. (Note: this was during our worse winter ever!). He pinpointed the problem immediately and spent time determining what the best solution would be. He had the part with him and was able to repair the unit right there on the spot. We were back up and running with 2 hours.

On very cold day of January, the temperature of the rooms was 64degree and I was freezing. I serched Angie's Lists and called neighboring town furnace company GREST DEGREES INC.  Bob and Jason showed up 90 minutes later and fixed the heater perfectlly.

One week later they came for tune up and replaced humidistat ,pipes, and etc.  Now our house is warm with proper humidity.

We can survive this very cold winter.

My furnace was on the fritz so I called Bob based on the reviews. Quite simply one of the nicest guys ever. You that feeling you get when you just know you can trust someone - that's what I had with Bob. He quickly fixed the issue and gave me some great pointers on general maintenance. Found my go to HVAC guy that's for sure.

The work they did was fine.  What they didn't tell us was that there would be an additional $95.00 service fee.

I woke up this morning with no heat.  By 9 a.m. Bob had the furnace running again.  As always, he arrived when he said he would.  the ignitor had burned out.  Bob discussed two possible replacements parts, one less expensive than the other.  He did not push the more expensive part, and we agreed that for the age of my furnace, the less expensive part was adequate.  He quickly replaced it.  Bob had been here about a month ago to do routine maintenance on the system.  The ignitor was still fine at that time.  He has a "reliability guarantee," which means that he didn't charge for the service call to replace this part! I only had to pay for the part.

We were in the process of moving into our new home and noticed the A/C unit was not running but just buzzing.  I called Great Degrees probably around 4 pm and indicated the situation.  The woman on the phone was extremely helpful and said they probably could get out there tomorrow, before or after normal hours due to another job.  Which would have be fine.  But then she went above and beyond and offered an appointment that evening at 7pm...
Bob arrived right on time, offered my options to consider in regard to diagnosing and possible repair.  He raced the sunset to complete the job.  He also did a very low key, low pressure job at the end of the service to explain their maintenance plan which I chose to accept..

We highly recommend Great Degrees.  We recently moved into a townhouse that had several heating and cooling issues.  Bob?s proposals were very detailed and offered us several options.  He is prompt, professional and polite.    Bob was in constant communication with us regarding the status and schedule of each project.  We are extremely satisfied with his service and the products he recommended.

Had A/C probems on a Saturday morning - with 90-degree weather approaching we wanted to get it repaired ASAP.  Bob called back immediately, and arrived in about an hour.  The service was prompt, courteous and professional.

Called Great Degrees on Saturday and set up appointment for next day on Sunday.  Technician arrived on time and was very professional.  Looked at all parts of the system, explained everything he was doing and identified the problem - a faulty capacitor in the air conditioning unit - within about 20 minutes.  Since only one half of the capacitor was bad he provided two options (wiring in another capacitor to replace faulty half at less expense or putting in new capacitor).  Appreciated this as I wouldn't have known the difference between a half bad capacitor and one that needed to be totally replaced. Went with the full new capacitor, the repair and testing took about another half hour.
While here, they also looked and fixed a leaking humidifier (the tray distirbuting the water was upside down from when we replaced the filter earlier).  This took about five minutes.  Only issue I had here was the $47.50 service fee associated wtih this.  While the technician was clear that the review of the humidifier would result in this additional charge, I thought given the repair took five minutes and that I had already paid the $95 service charge for the air conditioner review that this should have been waived.
In spite of the small annoyance with service fee, if I have another problem in these areas I will call Great Degrees again.  They were able to get us an appointment quickly at a convenient time for us, got here on time, had a professional presence, were clear about the problems, and fixed them quickly.

He showed up, diagnosed the issue, I approved the work and he swapped out the coil.  Now, as he had warned me last year, the compressor (outside unit) needs to be changed.

My furnace stopped working in the early morning.  He came out within a reasonable time, evaluated the problem, obtained the necessary replacement assembly, installed it, and was finished by mid day.  The malfunctioning unit was still in warranty period, so he got the warranty allowance for me.  At the same visit, he gave me insight about the short cycling in the furnace controls, and recommended measures to mitigate.

They did a great job of assessing the issue and determining a great and affordable solution. I appreciated their thoroughness and frankness in accessing the situation.

Went very well. Called on Saturday, set up appt. for Sunday 1pm since he doesn't charge overtime on Sunday afternoons. He came on-time. Took some things apart on the central A/C unit outside, checked the capacitance and said it was off. Replaced capacitor which he had in his trunk thankfully. While he was there he also rinsed off the coils in the back of the unit. Said he thought the fan motor was fine but if we had a problem with it he would waive the trip/diagnosis charge if he had to come back. Unit has been working great in the 24hrs since then. Bob suggested we sign up for a maintenance contract but there was no pressure or upsell on anything. Have hired before and would again. Given the 2012 ongoing Chicago heat wave we are in, was glad he could totally fix the unit this quickly!

Bob King at Great Degrees! did a great job quoting and installing a new air conditioner and furnace. Bob was exremely professional and detail oriented during the entire process.  He took the time during the quoting process to explain everything in detail, he throroughly looked over our home and exisiting equipment, and worked with us to get the right equipment for our budget.  With Bob's engineering background, he was able to explain everything to me in detail about the different options and how everything worked.  
Bob was able to quickly begin the installation, which was important, since our exisiting unit was not working during a very hot period of weather.  He was extremely professional, clean, and meticulous during the installation.  He worked long hours to get the job done as soon as possible.  Finally, he took the time to explain everything to my wife and I in terms of operation, features, warranties, etc. 
We did a lot of research and quoting with other companies, both small and large.  We would highly recommend Bob to anyone that wants a true professional, that fully understands his business, and cares about the quality of equipment and his workmanship.

I am a landlord, and contacted bob on Friday and he responded that evening to look at unit the tenants advised was not working. He contacted me while on site to advise it probably wasn't worth fixing, unit over 20 years old and cost to fix getting close to that of a new unit. He immediately provided me estimates and agreed to replace unit the following day which was a Saturday on a holiday weekend. There was no extra charge other than a fee imposed upon him to pick up the new unit on the weekend. He was extremely professional and kept me in the loop throughout the process without needing me to respond out to the home. I would absolutely use his services in the future.

Just moved in this home so when the air wasn't working when we turned it on Fri. for the first time we got a little nervous. Called Bob Mon. afternoon and he said he'd try to be out later in early evening. We called him back around 6 p.m. and told him he didn't need to come until Tuesday. Since I didn't call until Monday afternoon I wasn't upset that he couldn't come right away, he was at least going to make the effort. He arrived around the time he said and checked furnace and air. said I needed freon. Added freon and air is working again. As far as cost he charged $95 service call (which I thought was high since he did have to service my air)and $400 for the freon, $45 to check for leaks. I had a coupon from Angie's List so that saved me $30. I've never had our air worked on before so I can't tell you if this was a fair price or not. Did it seem high to me, heck yeah everything is high nowadays. Bob came when he said, fixed the problem and was friendly and knew what he was doing so I'm happy. The B for price is only because I have no idea how much this service cost, not that he was higher then other companies. I didn't call anyone else.
