When a couple of months went by and I had not heard from him for the recommended follow up treatments, I began calling, sending emails, etc. with no response. Finally about a month later, Champion calls telling me his brother failed to give him the messages and he would be out right away. He showed up briefly 2 weeks later, and said the tree was savable. He acted like he had never seen the tree before. He committed to having the tree treated with ground soak to kill larvae that were starting to hibernate. His crew never showed up.
"Following the member's request on May 27, 2011 for work at his property, an arborist, Jim Campion, visited his location and prepared an estimate, which the member accepted. The work was subsequently done on June 8th after a reschedule due to weather issues. On June 9th, an invoice was sent and paid promptly by the member. On June 13, there was follow up email from the member that prompted a revisit from Jim Campion to discuss treatments of the ash tree for emerald ash borer. At that time, a soil drench was placed on the work schedule for October 24, 2011 and the order remained on the calendar until November 23rd. Unfortunately, the crew did not report to his property and did not perform the work as requested. This is our fault and we intend to correct the problem in the following manner. We will provide a soil drench of an imidacloprid formulation between mid-April and mid-May, 2012 at an optimum time for a successful uptake by the tree. While trees can be treated in the fall, April/May is the best time for a successful application. The frost must be out of the ground and the soil must be moist so the application will flow freely to the roots for uptake. This will be provided to the member at no charge due to the lack of follow up on our part. It is our intent to exceed client expectations. Clearly this did not happen in the member's case and we will correct the problem to his satisfaction at no charge. It should be noted that this pledge applies to the trimming and the most effective method of treating an ash tree with EAB and should not be considered a pledge to insure the survivability of the infested tree."
