Warning: most prefinished flooring contains aluminum oxide particles which go airborne during the sanding process, and they are strong lung irritants (cough-cough). There were some glitches and delays with the sanding (they had to do it twice) and the threshold installation (another re-do), but they ultimately succeeded in restoring the floors to look like the original (prefinished) product. The end result is a beautiful oak floor. Unfortunately, the 25-year manufacturer's warranty on the factory finish has been voided, and the flooring will require periodic re-coating. But now I know a competent refinishing company to call when that time comes. My only complaint about them is that they were pretty slow in returning phone calls and sometimes didn't call when they said they would. Overall, they were professional and very pleasant people to work with.
