Greg came over and gave me an estimate for the replacement of the 25-year-old boiler and 6-year-old water heater that were currently venting through the chimney. Greg carefully explained to me about different options available and agreed with the assessment by the masonry companies. Greg went above and beyond to talk about the current problems we were having with our boiler and to explain the reasons behind them.
Greg's quote was very comprehensive and easily beat competitors.
When our roofers moved up their date to replace our roof and remove our chimney, I called Greg, absolutely frantic to get our HVAC project underway. If we didn't get the HVAC project complete, we'd be living without heat or hot water as soon as the roofers removed our chimney!
Greg was very responsive and got his team here immediately. They worked two full days getting the new systems installed and were thoughtful about ensuring that the house was livable. We didn't spend a night without heat or a morning without hot water. His team is great - very tidy, courteous, and considerate.
Our new system works great. Could not have been easier to do business with. I highly recommend Greg and his team.
Townhouse: In 2002 my realtor recommend two long-established, highly rated Oak Park HVAC contractors for air-conditioning my just purchased 1903 townhouse. I wanted a SpacePak / Unico cooling system as the house is heated by radiators. One contractor refused to bid saying that they really could not install such a system and have it work properly. The other was willing to do the work, but said they would have to drop down the ceiling in my 2nd floor hallway. An ugly idea that would ruin the hallway. He was willing to do it, but said I might not be happy with the things they would have to do to get it in. The flat roof and shallow attic left insufficient room for installation.
Then I called Sutor for a quote on a different kind of system. Greg Sutor visited the townhouse and said we would be better off with a SpacePac or Unico system. (Huh? Two experts say it isn?t possible.) Sutor said it would be tight, and that they would undoubtedly make a few openings in walls and ceilings that would have to be patched (working blind inside walls, etc., fishing tubes from the attic past the second floor to the 1st floor.). I really could not believe what he was saying -- that this was difficult but the kind of thing they do all the time. Still skeptical, I had him come out again to take another look to confirm his initial view.
A few weeks later the system was installed. The air exchanger hangs from the roof's rafters so that vibration is transmitted away from living areas. The system was sized to permit the coiling of the air delivery tubes in the attic to absorb sound. There were no extra holes anywhere. Nothing to be patched.
Thirteen years later the system is quiet and works great. Had I listened to the other contractors, I would have either a lousy system, ugly and expensive changes to the house or window air conditioners.
The high efficiency boiler works great and saves a lot of money on heating bills. I would recommend Sutor without reservation for any HVAC project.
I highly recommend this company for any AC/heating needs!
The Sutor quote was $4,675 for furnace parts & labor (Both quotes included 2 stage fan motor, Sutor's was 95% efficient w/a free wifi thermostat; the Local quote was 90% efficient, no extras) Wow! A savings of over $2,400!
And I have not even mentioned his (and his techs) professionalism. They were clean, timely, efficient, and excellent communicators. I never felt like I did not know what was going on. He reinstalled our humidifier running the drip line into our utility sink (instead of outside where it was freezing) for no charge. He cleaned the filters and showed me how to do it in the future, no charge, of course, because he is just that awesome!
We are happier with Greg's service than we have been with any other project we have done in our home.

A/C is working great
We solicited quotes from several vendors, including Sutor on recommendation from our sister- and brother-in-laws, who were highly complementary. They were not wrong.
Greg came out to survey our home. He clearly enjoyed his work, was quite knowledgeable, thorough in his inspection and once he found that I was interested in discussing technical details, quite willing to discuss options, issues, and costs. Particularly as the previous owner hadn't allowed much room for the in-house coil/exchanger, it was a challenge to both boost the unit capacity and to fit in the limited space, but Greg not only found a unit but was able to shoehorn it in with a maintainable and professional installation.
His field technicians were prompt, friendly, and clearly knowledgeable in their fields. The work was carried out quickly with a minimum of disruption and mess, and they cleaned up neatly afterward.
Finally, he's available not only for any followup questions and problems, but just to discuss HVAC-related questions and ideas. And when my BiL's furnace failed to start during the frigid weather in Chicago in January, 2013, while he was out of town--and I was watching his house for him--Greg himself answered the 800 emergency call on Sunday night. (Incidentally, it wasn't a problem with the furnace he'd installed--the gas company had somehow let air get into the lines. We were able to walk through a purge and restart over the phone.)
Greg's price wasn't the cheapest offered, but frankly, the others were unreasonably--unbelievably--low, while his corresponded with what I could find about the costs of the unit and materiel. His company will most assuredly be the one I turn to when it's time to replace our 30+ year-old furnace. It's a true pleasure to encounter someone who's enthusiastic, intelligent, knowledgeable, and committed to their work, and has employees who embody the same attributes.
Greg is very professional and did a solid job of explaining our options.
His guys showed up on time and were able to replace the furnace within 4-5 hours.
He also came back a month later to make sure everything was fine tuned with the variable fan, and take care of a small issue with the thermostat.
Great overall experience - I would recommend these guys to anyone.
