They sent a sales guy, he quoted me $3500 for a job he represented as extensive. One worker came out and got it done in 2.5 hours. I paid more than $1200/hr assuming they actually spent $500 on parts which was generous. I contacted Frank the owner, he offered $825 back then hung up on me when I tried to get proper accounting of his input costs because he knew I was wrong. I tried calling back several times leaving several messages and they didn’t respond. They robbed me and they knew it.

Great! Received a call back and quote from Frank who told me a bit about the company and gave me the name of the person who would be coming out. He came out as scheduled and finished within an hour. Would definitely hire again.

I had three quotes before going with this company.  First, I was impressed by the gentleman who came out to do the estimate.  He understood what I was asking for and pointed out some things that I needed to take care of to ensure safety in my home.  I had my home "rewired" before but learned that the term "rewired" means different things to different people.  Therefore, a lot of things that possibly should have been done before was not.  I contacted that company first and their price was outrageous even though I pointed out to them that they supposedly "rewried" the house previously.  I'm not giving their name but they are listed with Angie's List.
I was not disappointed by my choice of Secure Electric.  The two men that came (I older and 1 younger) was excellent, polite, professional, timely, and orderly.  They clean up each day after working.  I believe it took 3-4 days.  They did little extra things like using different plate covering etc. extra smoke alarm because I changed my son bedroom from upstairs to the basement.  Their rate was competitive.  It was not the least expensive nor the most expensive but again the salesman was very detailed and make excellent recommendations.  I have learned that the least expensive way is not always the best.  So their price was the middle one.  My husband and I are very pleased with the performance of the work and would highly recommend them.

When he estimated the job, he said it would take 4 hours and involve two guys.  It ended up taking about 35 minutes with one guy.  When I called and asked for an adjustment based on actual time, he told me he couldn't do it because we were in downtown Chicago and he could hardly make a profit unless he charged me what he did (which ended up being almost $700 dollars.  I think that they thought they had me over a barrel because they knew the job had to  be done immediately since flooring was going to be installed the next day

Fine except for the amount of money charged for the service. I was charged too much money for the work performed. Basically all that happened was a switch was replaced and the breaker box was checked. The problem started when I was replacing a switchplate after painting the wall. The switch blew and scorched the wall. Luckily the breaker shut off the power. I was shaken up by the incident. I called and talked with a dispatcher who referred me to Ed. Ed is the sales coordinator for the company. He called me after about an hour and said that the original charge would be $150 for someone to come out and check everything for safety. (When I originally asked what this would cost, Ed laughed and said jokingly "a million dollars", I should've gotten a clue then.) Ed came out on the day that the switch blew and wrote up a contractual agreement estimate of $379. This estimate was for an electrician to come out and check everything out at a future date. He warned me that the price could be higher based upon what the electrician said. He thought that it was possibly going to involve more work than a simple switch replacement. On Monday 9/21/09, the electrician (Tino) came out and replaced the switch and took apart the breaker box to check the wiring. I showed him the copy I had of the agreement and Tino called to confirm that the amount of $379 was what would be charged. He left after 20 min. Both Ed and the electrician Tino were very prompt and responsive, however, I feel that I paid way too much for the work performed. Unfortunately, I did not have access to a computer on the day that the switch blew, otherwise I would have consulted Angie's list first.

Workers were hard working and professional. Much of the work had to be done in a crawl space which they handled with no problem. The workers were cooperative to suggestions by owner.

Price was higher than others quoted, but I could tell that Mr. Macey knew about working in vintage buildings, which this was. The workers were very professional, arrived on time, cleaned up behind themselves, worked quickly and effectively, and treated me respectfully. Each day, they brought shoe covers and wore them throughout the house.
