Pep Boys Auto Service & Tire

It's the second time, two different places do not charge me for it. Neither of them charged me for having the tire re-pumped. This last time, they realized my inspection sticker without its date, so basically the did inspection as well. They're professional, fast. I was surprised they didn't charge the first time.

My usual mechanic is a tiny family business that does great work cheap, so they've got a lot of loyal customers and often can't schedule to look at my car until a week or more in the future. Early this winter I had a couple of issues that couldn't wait. Pep Boys cost a little more than I wanted to pay, but they were able to look at AND fix the car the same day I called. They also didn't try to oversell, and didn't mind that I left the non-emergency stuff for my regular guy to take care of the next week. Definitely helped me out in a pinch. Will definitely do business again if/when my regular guy's overbooked.

They're minutes from my home, they're as good as their word when it comes to how long it will take them to get to my car and then, once they do, about how long it will take before it will be ready for pickup.
They're very friendly!!
They know me by sight -- which isn't exactly what you want with the place you go for car repairs, but it isn't their fault that my car is 16 years old and therefore needs some occasional work, LOL!!!
The breakdown for the job -- which didn't take all that long to fix -- was $228.08 for parts, $203.34 for labor and $53.50 for others.
I'm very happy with this particular Pepboys and don't think twice about where I want my car worked on when something goes wrong.
One time, I went there for something relatively mild -- just an oil change, I think -- and they found a few other HORRIBLE problems!!!  Like a tie rod that was ready to break!!!  And I forget what else.  But it was expensive!!!
Now you might think, 'They're just making this up to screw me out of money!!!!'
But then there was another time when my car wouldn't start and I had it towed from my driveway.
When the tow guy came, it turned right over.
I told him that was great, but I need a car that's going to start ALL the time.
Bottom line, he took it in, they couldn't find anything wrong with it -- they could have told me ANYTHING -- and didn't even charge me for the tow!!!!
  (What was wrong with it?  I THINK that I just didn't have it totally in gear!!  This car is a little tricky when it comes to putting it into reverse.  Every once in a while, I apply pressure to the gas pedal, nothing happens and I 're-do' it into 'reverse' and then it works.  I think the problem was 'driver error.'  D'oh!!!)

I was disappointed with the air conditioning because they did not fix the problem. It was an intermittent problem and I am pretty sure they only turned the A/C on for a few minutes and did not wait to see if it went out. It was also very expensive.
