They found it on the second try. They cut a hole into the wall with a hacksaw, sawed off the old pipe, and replaced it with PVC pipe and rubber couplings. It works. No more leak. The price just seems awfully high. Also, he gave me one quote (not written) before starting the job but ended up charging me more than double what he originally estimated. No good.

Dissatisfied. .....Mr. D arrived on time with his helper and after checking the pipe gave me the price to replace it and I gave him the ok. The pipe was overhead i my basement and they only brought one step stool to stand on. Mr. D is short and couldn't reach the pipe so I had to hold a pipe wrench on the fitting while the helper stood on the short ladder and turned the pipe.. I really didn't mind helping them. Next came the install. They used copper pipe to replace a section of galvanized steel pipe...which is common practice in the trade. Having some knowledge of the plumbing trade I questioned them about NOT using a dialectic adapter and they said a copper fitting wrapped with Teflon thread tape would be just fine. That didn't sound right to me but they're the plumbers so I didn't argue. They installed the pipe, checked for leaks at either end of the 6' repair (none found there) and left. As I was cleaning up the area afterwards I discovered that the next fitting down the line was now leaking from the strain put on the pipes. I checked the Chicago plumbing code and their repair IS NOT UP TO CODE. A dialectic fitting (or a brass fitting ) must be used to connect copper to galvanized steel pipe. Their improper connection of dissimilar pipes will cause the pipe to erode, and FAILURE of the connection, very quickly.

I had called Mr. D after I received an exorbitant estimate from another plumbing service and he gave me a much more reasonable estimate. He also recommended that I purchase an American Standard faucet and told me to stick to the same type of faucet (which was a 2-handle faucet with sprayer) rather than go a more modern type of faucet because if my home was 40-50 years old and the plumbing was not updated, a newer model could cause problems in the future. He and his associate arrived earlier than expected, which was fine as they called first. They were very nice and changed my faucet making sure there were no leaks underneath the sink and that the faucet worked properly. They were done in less than 30 minutes. I'm very happy with Mr. D's work and will call him again if I have any plumbing needs.

I called Mr. D around 7:30 in the morning and he said he'd come by at 10:30.  He showed up right on time,  assessed, and fixed the problem all within about 45 mins.  He was professional and pleasant.  I will definitely call him again!

I highly recommend Mr D, Fred the plumber.  He recently replaced my sump pump and performed some power rodding at my home.  I found him to be knowledgeable, reasonable, and very reliable.  Thanks Fred for an excellent job!

He said he would be at my house between noon and two but would call before showing up/on his way. He called and was at the house by noon and done by 1:30.

He is a very professional and very nice person. He worked around my schedule. If I ever need plumbing services again, I am definitely calling Fred.

He came in, diagnosed the problem, told me what the issue was. He fixed the leak on one day and the next time he came out, he fixed the other problem. Professionally done. He said "I guarantee it won't leak and if it does, call me and I"ll be back to fix it."

Fred was great! I called around for three quotes and Fred's price was the cheapest by far. Other companies wanted to charge $120 - $160 for the same service. He showed me exactly what had clogged the drain and had me inspect it before he left. The power rodding is guaranteed for 60 days. It was a small job, but he took care and was a very nice guy. I will definitely have Fred back in the future.

He seems like a knowledgeable person, but could use help with customer service. His prices are lower than most plumbers.

I entered the bathroom early this morning to hear a hissing sound and see a wet floor. Water was leaking from where the connector from the water pipe enters the toilet tank. i shut off the water, mopped the floor and, of course, went on my computer to Angie's List. All I can say is thank God I awoke before the water leak became a flood, for Angie's List and thank God for Mr. D, Fred
Diorio. I called Fred and he called me right back with a time at which he would come out today(I needed someone out the same day). Fred just left after installing a new connector at a very reasonable price. Businessmen like Fred are the reason I belong to Angie's List. If you need a plumber, Fred is the guy.

We had water pooling on the basement floor (in what is basically our living room) for a couple days, and I had my HVAC guy visit because the leak originally appeared to be coming from the furnace, but he showed me where it was coming from the toilet directly above. Mr. D's was one of two plumbing companies I called around 1pm on a Sunday hoping they could come out and give an estimate. The other charged double for a Sunday visit, so I had scheduled for him to come out Monday morning. Fred and his son made it to the house around 3pm, diagnosed the problem quickly, gave an estimate of $115, and had everything they needed to do the job on the spot. They said it wouldn't take more than an hour. I gave them the green light, and called the other plumber and cancelled the Monday appointment. They had to cut the recessed bolts to remove the toilet, replace the wax ring and putty that sealed the toilet to the stack. I was surprised when they asked to borrow some cleaning products to clean the wall behind the toilet tank before it became inaccessible for another decade. I hadn't even thought of that. They went above and beyond the call, for the right price, and got it all done in an hour. I couldn't ask for more. Mr. D's is now and quot;my plumberand quot; for as long as I live in the area.

I called Mr. D's Plumbing on Saturday morning, and Fred was able to come out early afternoon (and this is on Father's Day weekend!). I had a couple problems to address, primarily a backup through a basement floor drain whenever kitchen/laundry water was run; secondarily a partial clog situation causing a basement toilet to burp.
Fred arrived on time with his son Fred Jr., and we discussed the issues, did a quick inspection, and came up with a very fair price range depending how what types of issues they ran into.
The main line was power rodded through the catch basin out back, and they cleared out a lot of roots, resolving the toilet burp issue.
The secondary sewer line servicing the kitchen and laundry proved more difficult, but they got it cleared with a hydro-jetter.
Fred and his son explained things very clearly as they went along, and I'm very glad to have a better understanding of how all the plumbing ties together. It's been over a week now and everything is draining perfectly.
Fred and Fred Jr. even spent the time to give me some tips on how to keep things draining smoothly, as well as some improvements that could be made to the plumbing system, but there was absolutely no and quot;up-sellingand quot;, which was awesome.
I highly recommend Mr. D's Plumbing.

Mr. D was able to come out the same day, and it was Sunday!! He is courteous, professional and experienced. I'll be using his services come this spring, and I'd recommend him to anyone needing any plumbing work!

This was the 3rd time, I called Mr. D's plumbing and sewage, and they were doing a great job. I called because of the low water pressure. He took the kitchen and bathroom faucets apart and the water spout apart but he broke off something to the faucet which let the water come out like a shower. He told me I needed to buy 2 new faucets and to buy American Standard. He broke the faucet but blamed it on the manufacturer which was a Delta faucet. He also told me he can put the new faucets in for $140 but I had just bought those faucets. I feel he took advantage of me. My water pressure didn't get better. I think they owe me a new faucet.

It went great, Fred and Scotty arrived on time. They were courteous. They showed me what was wrong and what the problem was. They cleaned up after themselves and asked me if I had any questions. Before they left, they said if I had any more problems to give them a call. As a matter of fact, I've called them again about another problem I'm having.

I called Mr. D's Plumbing on Saturday morning do to my basement flooding. It was 7:00am and he said he would come right away. He had arrived in 30 minutes. upon arriving him and his son looked at the problem, the main line was clogged going to the street, so they power rodded the main line from the catch basin to the street. The water went down right away..He also cleaned my catch basin. Mr. D is a very knowledgeable man. He knew what to do and where the problem was. Him and his son worked really hard and had my problem fixed and cleaned up within an hour and a half. I would most definitely call him again.

When I initially called they said they would be out in a few days. However, when my problem quickly and suddenly got worse they were able to accommodate me by moving up our appointment. I really appreciated their responsiveness to my issue. The crew who arrived worked very hard, and actually dug through my yard by hand. When they were finished, I could hardly tell that they had even been here. Overall, I was very pleased with their service.

Good Guy

The plumber was excellent, good, wonderful, nice and quick. I liked him personally and he did a good job. He is going to come back and inspect for the next two months. He is going to provide that service for free. They showed interest in pleasing us and doing what needed to be done. They made us feel like they were taking care of everything. They do a lot of hard work too. They were in the sewage hole and dug it as well as cleaned it up. They did the work even though they got dirty and they never complained. I don’t have any complaints about them and I was very pleased with them. They were on time and were 15 minutes early. I like to see them get some business because of the way they work. I would use their services in the future too.

Mr. D and his team are fantastic! They completed the job in approximately 2 1/2 hours without any problems. They hauled the old tank to my alley, and a scrap collector had removed it within the hour. They are my "go-to" plumbers.
