I didn't want to use her services because she didn't want to provide me with an itemized quote and I felt like she was a little high. I was upset that she wouldn't provide me with that itemized quote, I felt like I had a right to that and she refused to give me one.
Description of Work: Jackie's Memorable Gardens & Landscapes gave me a quote for new landscaping in the front of our home including trees, flowers, removal of old landscaping, etc.

Since moving in over 11 years ago, I've felt that my home did not have curb appeal. Last year, I had some unsightly shrubs removed in the flower bed in front of my home. I finally decided to remove landscaping from my 'to-do' list. Given her high ratings on Angie's List, I contacted Jackie's Memorable Gardens for an estimate. Jackie immediately returned my call. We scheduled a date for her to come out and provide me an estimate. She told me that she would do a drawing of the work with recommendations for a hourly fee that would be used towards the work, if I decided to do. She came back within a week with a design that took into consideration that I have a brown thumb! We scheduled a window of time for her to install the landscaping given the rainy season (after I removed the brick edging). After a delay due to my not fully appreciating how much time and effort it would take to remove the bricks, Jackie contacted me about beginning work on the landscaping. I came home to see the start of the work and was impressed with the transformation that was taking place in my front yard. The next day I pulled up and stop speaking mid-sentence. It was really nice and I can say that my home now has great curb appeal... well as soon as I get my house painted (will be checking Angie's List for someone as well). I would definitely recommend Jackie Memorable Gardens for landscaping. She was professional, timely, creative, and had a high degree of customer service!
Description of Work: I had a new flower bed with pavers installed. It included diverse planting and flowers that took into consideration my request for a three season colorful flower bed that complemented my home. Jackie and her team removed a minor number of previous brick edging that remained and buried my downsprout to highlight the new landscape.

Jackie and her husband Butch came out promptly after our call for an estimate. They surveyed the area and sketched a layout for patios of various sizes. We took a few days to discuss size and paver colors, and then sent them a check for half to go ahead. Butch and his assistant came out the next week and in a few days installed our curved, 285 sq. ft. patio. It turned out so beautifully we decided to have them return this year to install a walk-way from the patio to the garage (17'6" long by 2"10" wide). We couldn't be more pleased with the results. These people are true artisans and we would recommend them without reservation.
Description of Work: In October 2009 we had a paver patio installed and in 2010 we had a curved pathway installed from the patio to the garage.

The entire experience, from start to finish, was a pleasure. We called Jackie quite early in the season and we set up an appointment. She was always prompt and, in fact, always called to confirm the appointment before she came. Jackie brought some examples of her work as well as some options for the landscaping and was quite knowledgeable about which plants would work where. We explained to Jackie that we wanted to upgrade the curb appeal of our home without spending a huge amount of money and she more than accomplished that.
Description of Work: Replaced the existing landscaping at the front of our home with new landscaping. Work included removing the old bushes, stones and an evergreen, putting in new plants, some flagstone, new mulch and some new sod.

Jackie was a delight from the beginning. Her design ideas were right in step with what we were hoping to accomplish. Jackie was flexible with minor alterations as the work got underway, as was Butch and the rest of the crew. We liked what Jackie was doing so well that we wanted to expand it! ;) The crew was fun to have around. Very personable, but also professional and accommodating, just as Jackie was. The entire process was a good experience, overall......aside from some weather delays and other construction before the patio and garden. But, the end result has been a wonderful investment in our home and everything we could have ever hoped for and more!! I had submitted a report last fall after the work was completed, but I don't know what happened to it.....so, now this is our first full warm weather season to enjoy the finished garden retreat that we have, and it is just such a joy to have.....to step out into a quiet and beautiful oasis, away from it all. This truly has become our "secret garden", as Jackie coined it during construction, knowing that our plan was to enclose it.
Description of Work: Removed sections of old sidewalk and cement slab with flagstone attached, to install our new garden and paver patio. The area for the patio was regraded, to raise it about 6 inches, to prevent water from sitting on the patio or accumulating near the house. Flagstone steppers were installed in place of portions of the removed sidewalk, leading to a yet-to-be installed fence around our backyard. Old overgrown bushes and a dirt-pile held in place with landscape timbers were removed from behind the garage to incorporate into the expanded garden area, and dirt moved to the opposite side of the house to raise the bed.

Oh my. What a DREAM! The brick edging for the driveway makes me wish the whole driveway were paver's. Butch dealt with 100 year-old oak tree roots, difficult topography and more with great grace and an infectious laughter. We decided that we would harvest some day lilies from the soon to be renovated garden and adapt them for the front. I have no doubt that it will be glorious next year. I love that Jackie and Butch think to re-use what is already in place. I also witnessed something among their team of workers that also made me glad to have them on the job: One of the young men really was struggling with the wheelbarrow full of sand in a trench and ended up dumping most of it. The other young man witnessed this, and, without a word, went and cleaned it up while his co-worker went to get more. They had no idea I was watching from inside the house. Their boss was not watching either. That let me know I had hired quality workers. The garden is a dream come true and beyond. Jackie kept in mind that I have a toddler grandson and she let him actually help! He helped place the rocks for his "puddle". He loves his puddle and thinks it is neat that he got to pick out the rocks. Many of those rocks were ones that had boiled up out of the earth in the 20+ years we had lived here, and so, are also reused and we think that is another awesome feature of the garden. Our grandson was allowed in the big trucks to "drive" them and thinks that he had a lot to do also with that. The various colors and textures in the garden are amazing to me. Jackie had me walk through with a clipboard on the last day so I could take notes in my own manner and know best how to care for it. I now find myself finding many excuses to go out and wander through it every day. It has become the envy of the neighborhood and many husbands are getting earfuls from their wives about how they want one too. Butch had some ideas for lighting it, and I was able to do that easily and all by myself! There are other things I want to have them back for and will after my yard suffers from the parties we will be hosting. I cannot praise them enough. Jackie also took the time to allow my dad, who has dementia, to have some input into this garden. Hire her and you will be amazed at the wonders she can create!

Jackie returned phone calls promptly followed by a letter confirming appointment and any necessary documentation needed( survey of property for property boundaries etc.) She was pleasant, personable and prompt. She supplied photos of different plants that would be used in the design and how they would appear during each season. We were notified when work would begin and how long to complete and all work was done as stated from start to finish. A walk through with Jackie after completion with detail instructions on the watering, fertilizing, cutting and general maintenance schedule for plants and mulch. Every step of the project was handled in a timely and professional manner that we haven't experienced in some time. All this at a very reasonable price. I am looking forward to rehiring Jackie when we re-landscape our backyard.
Description of Work: Jackie first interviewed us to gather our preferences for maintenance, pricing and style of landscaping desired. Then submitted design, plants and different options for our review. 4 overgrown shrubs were removed, grading, 10 large flagstone rocks and several styles of plants and flowering plants to reflect the different seasons with color and topped off with mulch.

We dealt with the owner Jackie the entire time and were very pleased throughout the process. We had two other estimates done before this one. This price was slightly more than one estimate and a few thousand less than another one. We chose this company as we felt very comfortable that she would do the job right. The project was slow to get started due to the heavy rains we had in the spring but once the weather started cooperating everything was done in a week. The hard work was done by two guys all week long who were very courteous and professional. The patio now looks great and should last forever. Jackie was always available whether by phone or email and responded to any concerns we had immediately. Although this company hasn't been around a long time I believe that Jackie has many years of experience in this field and her suggestions and ideas were all very good. All in all we are very happy with our new patio and the process it took to get it done.
Description of Work: Installation of a brick paver patio covering approx. 550 square feet. The work included removing all the dirt, installing and compacting the limestone base and installing and compacting the Paveloc bricks. Also included installing a drain tile from the gutter to run under the patio and away from the house for proper drainage as per the village code. This patio was an L shaped design with a nice curvy front added to give it some character. It had to be sloped properly at certain points for drainage away from the house. The work was done by wheel barrows and shovels since they could not get a bobcat into the yard.

I WAS VERY PLEASED FROM THE INITIAL MEETING TO THE FINISHED PRESENTATION. THE INITIAL MEETING WAS VERY EDUCATIONAL. I RECEIVED A DESIGN WITHIN A WEEK AND WAS VERY PLEASED WITH IT. THE INSTALLATION TOOK ABOUT 3 WEEKS. THEY STARTED ON THE EXPECTED START DATE AND FINISHED A WEEK AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. I COULD LEAVE MY HOUSE WITH CONFIDENCE THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOING TO BE FINE, AND WHEN I WASN'T AT HOME THEY SHOWED UP AND BEGAN WORK AS SCHEDULED. THE CREW WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND MINDFUL OF MY SURROUNDINGS AND VERY RESPECTFUL OF THE NEIGHBORS. ALSO, I HAD A PROGRESS REPORT ALONG THE WAY AND WAS ALWAYS INFORMED ON WHAT WAS COMPLETED OR WHAT WAS TO BE COMPLETED. THE FINISHED GARDEN IS BEAUTIFUL. THIS WAS COMPLETED IN MY FRONT YARD AND IT'S THE SHOWCASE OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS WAS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH A PROFESSIONAL LANDSCAPER WHO I WILL USE AGAIN. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE PERSONABLE AND WANT YOU TO ENJOY YOUR GARDEN AS AN OUTDOOR EXPERIENCE.
