The service went very well. They completed the roof in two and a half days. They covered our bushes and flowers so the old roof would not hit them. The workers were nice. They showed up when they said they would.

We contacted the company and described the ice damming problem.
One of the company's formen came to our house, we had short discussion and then he checked
water damage caused by the ice dam, and few days later sent us proposal.
We had saw few problems with the contract and the company them to change it.
Once the issues with contract were corrected, the work started.
The repair would require about 4-5 days of work, but it was scheduled in such manner that it took about one month to complete.
That was OK with us, as the problem was not urgent at the time.
The actual working crew consisted of 3 workman, all polish and none of them spoke sufficient english to effectively discuss any upcoming issues. For that I needed to call the forman and to be fair, he was very responsive.
Work was done before around by beginning of December, and so far I had no problems with ice dam, of course this was very mild winter with little snow, so I will have to wait till harsher winter before the repair can be tested more thoroughly.
Pros:
Overall, the quality of work seems to be good, the workers were polite and professional, the forman was profesional and responsive to our questions. So far I am happy with the repair, but I will still need to wait for harsher winter before I can be sure that ice damming problem is completely solved.
Cons:
Cost was high for amount of work required, but not into extreme.
I could not communicate effectively with the work crew.
Entire job was spread across long period of time, it would be better if we were told before job started.

They were very good when they came out and they did the whole roof but since then we haven't been really happy. We never got a copy of our warranty and we still haven't got it. A couple of times we wanted them to come out and take a look at something and it took us a couple of weeks. It was the follow up service that was not so great. Their price was competitive. I love the way the roof looks. They showed up when they had to show up. It's hard to grade somebody on professionalism when you are not happy with their follow up service. When they were here and putting the roof on they were professional but since then he has been kind of terrible. I would not use him again as it has been too much of a hassle trying to get him here. We actually had something done here and we had to hire someone else because we just couldn't get him out here. I like the guy and he is personable. He did a good job but his follow up service and everything else has not been good.

In the fall of 2008, I got the idea of replacing my roof by myself to save a few bucks. This was actually not a good thing, as I had never tried doing this before. But how hard could it be? Rip the old and nail the new. Simple. Not quite. After ordering the shingles and tar paper, I started to work. With a fairly large section removed, I soon realized I made a huge mistake and this job was going to be bigger than I thought. Storm clouds were moving in and all I could envision was a ton of water running down our new kitchen cabinets. Believe me, this would not have made my wife happy. Looking in the phone book, (I was not yet a member of Angie's List) I found J & K Roofing. Del came out the very next day, and without laughing at my predicament, gave me what I thought was a fair price for installing the material that was sitting in my garage. He stated that I caught him at a good time, as he had a couple days before starting a new job. His crew came out and did a fantastic job. Del suggested I replace my chimney surround as the one I had was rusting and looking a little bad. I picked one up at a local store and they installed it. How could I not be satisfied with a company that saved my marriage?

They were not very responsive. I called the guy, he wouldn't respond. I kept having to call him back. He said he was going to take down an old antenna which he did not. the roof is working well so far for the last 5 years.

I think he did everything well. I did have to call him back about venting. We have an unvented roof in the main part of the house. It allowed us to have storage in all seasons. It was an unusual situation. We had icyene foam insulation involved and because of that, we had to find a roofer that could deal with this sort of thing. I had picked out a product to use and when he came I was working, and he used another brand. I am not real sure about this different product. That does bother me to some degree. I'm not real sure about what all of that stuff said in the contract. He did clean up most of the mess. So clean up was OK. It took a while before I was able to get warranty and other information from him. I hope that it is all good and that he is trustworthy and this product will turn out OK. I do feel in a way that he betrayed my trust.

Great, workers showed up when they said they would, finished on time and cleaned up better than how they found it. The insulation will save us on heating and cooling cost and was worth the investment, J&K was the only contractor who offered it to us, Del the owner was pleasant and kept us up to date start to finish!!

It went OK. They showed up and did the estimate, then showed up when they said they would to do the work, although I am still not throughly convinced that the roof will not leak this spring when the rain season starts. But at least I didn't have to put out as much money. However, the two guys that came to do the job were only up there for forty-five minutes. I figured that after they learned that there wasn't much work to do then they would adjust the final price, but they stayed with the original estimate, so I think that what they charged me compared to the time they spent on the job was very high. I just hope it doesn't still leak.

I called and they sent me a contract that I singed to have the work done. They did not get to my home until January. When they finally did show up the only thing that they did was put the leaf guards in the gutters and straighten them out. They never fixed the leak in the roof. I am not really happy with them. I expected to have the job done in a timely manner. When I called it was October last year they were not really good about keeping in touch. I had to keep calling and hounding them. They may call you back or they may not. I understand that it was kind of rainy, but when there were nice days, no one called or showed up.

My house was built in 1948, so the roof had many construction errors. They were great at fixing these problems. We are doing 1/3 of the roof every couple of years, but we are not done yet.

It was like pulling teeth to get a hold of these guys. Finally, after 8 weeks of trying to get a hold of them they did great work. They are a small company and I think that they grab more work than they can handle.

My roof began to leak and Del came out quickly to repair it until the work could be completed. There were significant delays due to the wet weather (5 months), but this wasn't J & K's fault. I had to be very proactive with Del to get the work scheduled. Once the work could be started, the team was prompt and professional. They did a great job.

J&K Roofing did a great job once they got it scheduled. There were delays in starting because the weather was not co-operative. They were looking for 2-3 good days in the forecast to start the job. The weather was very cold but they did the job within the time.

The project went well. Del was very helpful in getting me a quote and answering all my followup questions over the phone before I decided to go with them. He said they would finish in 2-3 days and it took 2 1/2 days. He came over to drop off samples of shingle colors and was able to get started on my job within a week (I was anxious because we had a leak in our roof). Del came the first day and introduced me to the guy in charge of the 3 man crew. They were all polite and did a good job cleaning up. They worked hard and didn't disrupt my household (except for the inevitable banging of course). They finished working in 2 1/2 days and I even got $250 off because of an Angie's list coupon. It was a great price for the job.

From the beginning, Del was willing to discuss issues and explain options to me (e.g., ridge vents.) He takes pride in what he does and I am very happy with the work. Not only did he give me the best price (I had 5 bids), but he was the most flexible is helping me out with things that the others would not do (e.g., bath fan, vent inserts). Jack, the crew leader was great as well. He discovered some issues mid-job (thin plywood and inadequate support on the roof of an addition the previous owner had done) and fixed them even though he did not have the materials on-hand and it caused the crew to come back for a third day. I do have one warning (minor overall), Del is not the greatest about returning calls, which made me a little nervous a times. When I did reach him however he was always willing to talk to me. Also, bad weather delays every job in the queue - tough to call everyone each day. In the end, Del went out of his way to get my job done ASAP. Thanks Del and Jack.

I first did an evaluation of this company too soon after the repair. A week after the repair the roof was pouring water into our home and caused damage to the ceiling, flooring, etc. We contacted them to see if maybe they walked on tiles and maybe damaged something. The owner got very angry with me. They returned our check and said they wanted no business with us. He never even came to look at the roof.

Overall happy with the work that was done. Was able to start our job quickly, after estimate was given and we picked out our shingles. Work was completed quickly. Only real complaint was ,that one of the panes in a window (4-pane) was accidentally broken by a wayward ladder and it took several weeks to get J&K to return to fix it. Accidents happen, so that didn't necessarily bother us, it was just the time it took to get them to come fix it, but they eventually came and fixed it. Would've given A, except for this part of the experience.
