A STORAGE INN

This is an old facility that was one of the first storage facilities in the St. Louis area. Granted they were not responsible for any damage of material it would have been nice to be given notice not to store material on the concrete floor. I had boxes on the floor that sustained water damage. Textbooks and some clothing were damaged along with a new mattress. The loss of the mattress was a major financial hit. The books and some family history papers were damaged with lots of mold on it. Books obviously sustained water damage. For the books and the papers, the boxes were about 4-5 feet inside beyond the garage door. And where snow or rain would hit the garage door, the driveway was sloped to shed the rain away from the building so I don't understand how water got in so far beyond the door unless there was a leak in the roof. I would use the facility again, but only to grow mushrooms or store water. For the major loss of the $1,300 mattress and unknown cost of books and loss of family papers, I asked for some compensation starting with $500.00 and the response I got was it wasn't their responsibility for damage. SOL. I would have been happy with a months worth of rent.
