In my professional life, I deal with a fair amount of tradespeople and contractors, so when I hire a contractor to do work on my house, I tend to pay attention to details and notice when a job isn't done 100%. I can honestly say American Insulation exceeded my highest expectations. I hired Rick to install soffit vents (there weren't any), two vents for bathroom fans and additional insulation (we had 1/3 of what the code now requires). Rick showed up on time and he and his apprentice had everything completed and cleaned up in just over two hours. He clearly is an expert at what he does and appeared to be extremely organized. Prior to his work, our upstairs was hot and we immediately could feel a substantial improvement. I recommend Rick without hesitation.

Purchased this house and upon inspection it was noted that the attic was not properly vented. And that there was plastic visqueen covering the batted insulation. Also, the house did not have the usual fascia venting in the exterior eaves.
So we searched for an attic company that could give us an opinion on this attic as well as a price to correct. We needed to move quickly with pricing as we were going to adjust our bid based the estimate.
Went right to Angie's List for recommendations as I did not have a lot of knowledge or contacts in this particular area.
American Insulation looked like a good possibility when I reviewed the info, so I called and spoke with April, the office person.
She was very helpful and could arrange an inspection on the day I needed. I was not present the day of the inspection, but I received both oral and written info and pricing from Rick. I awarded the contract and work was completed after we closed.
I actually have not been to attic to see the work but I am confident they did the job properly. I hope to get my head in that attic soon to verify. Quality of work is noted as N/A above .... because I haven't actually seen the work yet. It is in the attic and on the roof.
My experience has been good with American Insulation and I would recommend them.
I will try to write an update as soon as I can "see" their work.

Instillation of all material was executed to the specifications of the proposal while the the price was commensurate with work performed. The estimator/installer was very personable as well as being quite knowledgeable about thermodynamics with respect to proper ventilation of the attic cavity. Knowing the importance of a review in the decision process as a consumer I do not take them lightly. I highly recommend this company due to their integrity, responsiveness as well the professional acuity of the nature and scope of the work needed.

Two men came in laid some batting,checked for any holes and blew in fiberglass insulation. It took about 2 hrs. They were quick, and efficient. We noticed the difference by the next day. Our 2nd floor was much warmer,

We were very impressed by this company. They came highly recommended by friends and neighbors so we had high expectations. We called for a quote and they came out on time and thoroughly went over all areas of the house. The layout of the house was complicated so it wasn't that easy. The quote was very competitive, so we accepted it and scheduled the appointment. They showed up and performed all the work on the quote. I added more work that wasn't on the quote and they completed it and quoted a very fair price. They were very patient explaining all the aspects of the job which I appreciated as a new homeowner. Trustworthy, Honest and do quality work. They exceeded our expectations.

We were in a tight schedule but they accommodated us. They were punctual, professional and efficient. They came on the day promised and finished the work in plenty of time. They cleaned up and we could hardly tell they were even there afterward.

Owen Porter replied to a telephone request and made a full inspection. He carefully explained all the work and a few days later emailed a detailed quote. When I accepted the quote his office scheduled the work for 2 weeks in the future. He arrived at my home at the date and time scheduled.
They were very careful and spread drop sheets from the front door all the way upstairs to the attic. They did the fan venting, penetration sealing, and cleaning the first day but could not do the roof vents due to snow on the roof. They came back three days later to do the sealing, the roof vents, the blown insulation, and the new acess panel. They cleaned up completely when they finished. His bill was the exact amount of the quote and was not presented till all the work was comlpeted. Owen was willing for me to mail the check but I gave it to him before he left.
Overall this was a very sucessful project and it was a pleasure dealing with Owen Porter and American Insulation.

Original insulation was damaged due to attic vent work. Owen assessed the work needed and they were out within a week to complete the job. They were extremely prompt and responsive.

Owen came out to give an estimate and was very thorough in explaining everything that needed to be done. They showed up timely and spread tarps in all areas they would be working through to get to the attic. Just sealing the ducts made a huge difference in the heat we were getting in the 2nd floor. They removed a bunch of ducts that the original hvac contractors left up there. They looked in every nook and cranny up there and added insulation where there was minimal insulation and added insulation across the entire space. They made sure the house fan was working properly before they closed the attic to make sure nothing was in the way of it. They also asked if I wanted to inspect the attic before they closed the cover. The rooms were promptly cleaned when they finished. Our only regret is that we did not call them years ago.

We wanted to add insulation to our main attic, but still needed to maintain some attic storage capability. Owen's solution was superior to that of the other companies I had spoken to. They were prompt for both the estimate and the installation. The pricing was reasonable and was exactly what the job came in at. They were easy to work with. They cleaned up after the job was completed. They even hauled away some old particle board I had been previously using for attic storage.

Rick, the installer, showed up within a few minutes of our scheduled appointment of 8:30 AM. He started promptly by protecting the area of work. Owen, the owner, showed up shortly thereafter and assisted Rick with the installation process, which took approximately 2 hours total. Owen seemed very knowledgeable and experienced, which is why I accepted his proposal in lieu of other quotes I had solicited. American Insulation did not provide the cheapest quote, but their pricing was very competitive (within a couple percent), and I had a much better comfort level going with them instead of the other companies I spoke with. The installation was done in a timely manner and the work was done properly. There's an amazing difference in the comfort level of our home and we are completely satisfied with the work Owen and Rick did for us. I would highly recommend American Insulation.

As scheduled, Owen and his team showed up right on time. They began working immediately, and I couldn't be any happier with the job they did. They spent a couple hours on the removal process alone, and asked me to take a look to see if I was satisfied before they installed the new insulation. While I was up there, they also showed me all the penetrations that they sealed and the disinfectant that they applied. After the new insulation was installed I took a quick peak while they were packing up their truck. WOW! What a difference! Now, it's clean and up to code! It looks great and feels great as well because I no longer wake up sweating. (It really helped control not only the temperature throughout the entire home, but especially on the second floor where we sleep) If anyone is considering an insulation project for their attic I highly recommend American Insulation! Such professionals!

This process was incredible. Owen performed a very thorough inspection and explained in great details his findings. He then put together a "menu" of phases that should be considered - highlighting the ones that needed to be done immediately. He worked around our schedule (remodeling our pantry) and was able to schedule a day on short notice.
On Day 1 Rich and Owen worked on the attic prep and ventilation upgrades, then Rich finished up that day with the mold treatment. All work was explained very well as I was up the ladder looking in the attic. At the end of the day they made sure the area was cleaned up. Rich even helped me by clearing out some old bags of (discarded) insulation in the attic from someone else's work.
The following month we schedule the remaining phases of this project. Again Rich & Owen worked getting the attic ready for the blow-in insulation. All openings were sealed with foam or batts. The entire attic was insulated to R49 with measurement points for reference. After it was done I went up the ladder and looked at their work - very good! Next they went in to the crawl and inspected for moisture. They found some areas of concern and identified them to me (another job). They also cleared out debris from another earlier job (another vendor) and found a loose dryer vent. Like the professionals that they are - they sealed and secured the ducting (to prevent moisture in the crawl). Rich finished off the day with applying the 6 mil poly to the floor and insulating all exterior crawl walls. Again, once the job was complete the area was cleaned completely.

We are still in the process of converting an unheated unfinished walk-in attic to a useful room, and these guys have been instrumental in helping us do it RIGHT and with minimal cost. The gentleman who came and actually did the work for us took the time to do extra to make sure the room below would benefit from extra insulation, as well. The entire house is much better for their work here! And we haven't finished the new room yet.
