ALLSTATE INSURANCE

I usually use the general person in the office, whoever is there. I would use them in the future.

I called Allstate as one of many agencies to find homeowner's insurance for my first home. Their estimate came in under others and seemed as comprehensive as others, so I purchased it. Between my purchase and the closing, and without my knowledge, the policy was rewritten and the premium raised while the coverage lowered. The billing was entirely screwed up before my closing, so I ended up with a balance due. I called the agent in charge of the rewritten policy at least five times, leaving messages with several pieces of contact information. I have still not heard from her. Two weeks later, a third agent called me and left a message telling me that after appraisal, my premium was going up yet again. My premium is now 150% of what I was originally quoted. However, after having tried to pay it a second time, they've refunded it to my credit card a second time and I can't find out why. Thus far, I've not actually paid for my premium, though I've been billed copiously and have had charges billed and refunded twice. If I could get a person to talk to me, I might be able to find out why. When my first pre-paid (though as yet unpaid) year is up, I plan to change companies. If I'm having this much trouble paying them, I can't imagine how much trouble I'll have if I have to get THEM to pay ME on a claim.
