I have written reviews about Steve Otten's work in connection with other projects he has done for us in the past.  I don't have much to add to those reviews.  To summarize, when you employ Steve Otten you get reliability and quality work at a fair price.  This project was no exception. His proposed schedule for completing the project and price estimate came in on target. The floors look great!

Steve first came out to give us an estimate and worked with us on the design of the built-in bookshelves.  He was very attentive and had many great ideas of his own.  Construction started a little while later.  Much of the work was done off-site, but some was also done on-site (outside).  It took a couple of days to complete the work, but Steve is a true craftsman and a professional.  The bookshelves look wonderful and we have received many compliments on them.
We are going to ask him to do a couple more carpentry projects for us as well, since this project turned out so well.

After we contacted Steve describing the project, he prepared a detailed description of the work to be done, including estimates of material and labor costs, and sent them to me via e-mail. Through e-mail exchanges and a couple of personal visits with Steve, we adjusted the project scope and details to a point where we were comfortable. Once the project was started, work proceeded quickly. Steve brought in workers to assist with framing, and to do the drywall, electrical, and heating/cooling work. He also had someone assist with the flooring work. All other work and oversight of the entire project was completed by Steve. So we had a few different people who worked on the project, but the work proceeded without any glitches. People arrived when they said they would arrive, completed their parts of the project quickly and professionally with good workmanship, and showed respect for our property by keeping the workplace as clean as possible. In summary, the project proceeded smoothly, and we are very pleased with the quality of work.

This is the second job that Steve Otten has completed for us this year. As in the previous job, the price was quite reasonable, and the quality of work was outstanding. Steve works quickly, does not make mistakes, and leaves the workplace clean. Because of a previous commitment we had to leave the house while the job was being completed, and it was so nice to leave with confidence that the house would be locked and that the job would be completed appropriately. If you are looking for a trustworthy contractor who does excellent work at a reasonable price, we have no hesitation in recommending Boardwalk Homes.

He did three jobs for me. The first job was to do trim work between my living room and dining room as well as crown molding in a few rooms. He designed how it looked and did a great job with everything. I get complements all the time on how it looks. The second job was to make a new mantle for me above my fireplace. Took the old one down and build by hand the new mantle. It certainly adds a great new look to the room. The third job was to add a countertop and a new custom made cabinet for my laundry room. It looks great and adds a new level of functionality in that room. I couldn't be happier with the work he did.

We requested estimates from three sources before selecting Boardwalk to handle this project. Steve Otten's estimate was the most detailed and the price was very competitive. This was undoubtedly a relatively small project for Steve, but his prompt e-mail responses and suggestions as we raised questions about how the mantel and cabinets would be constructed and how we wanted them to appear, made us feel confident that he intended to do a good job. We were not disappointed. Most of the work on the project was completed in about three days. We were impressed by how clean things were left at the end of each day. Most of the dusty work was completed outside and dust raised in the house was kept to a minimum. Most importantly, the quality of work exeeded our expectations. It was simply outstanding. We are extremely pleased with new appearance of our living area.

Excellent job from start to finish. Detailed job proposal, reasonable cost estimate. Very responsive via emails and phone calls before, during and after remodeling of basement. Listened to concerns about sound reductions needs in basement. Researched best methods and employed them (basement is very quiet, even with three noisy teens and their friends). Very flexible about changes to original plans. Great at coordinating subcontractors, very aware of disrupting customers' lives with construction. Perfectionist so job always done well and on time. Would enthusiastically recommend Steve Otten for any home renovation or carpentry jobs without an caveats.
