We had used a smaller construction company for some other jobs, but were worried they might not be able to handle this job as it involved some tricky things with installing a toilet in a bathroom that did not have one. Yes, we had a bathroom with a sink and tub /shower but no toilet..it's an old house with some odd features. There were some custom features to be done too, mainly cabinetry in the hall. Initially things went well, but when it came to the tile job around the shower, it was a mess. The grout was sloppy, and uneven. I do not think the person who did the tile knew what he was doing. He was a relative of the owner. Then they sent some other guy to chip off the messy grout. The tool he used left marks on the tiles. The solvent they used to get the marks off the tiles was subsequently spilled onto the brand new wood floors that had just been installed and finished. The floors had to be refinished and the second time they were done, the flooring people did not clean the floors at all so pet hair and human hair was stuck into the finished product, requiring a third refinishing of the floor. One of the bedrooms needed wood flooring installed, but a closet wall was to be removed. I pointed this out myself, to the same worker who did the tile (the owner's family member). When I was asked to look at the flooring later, they had not remove dot he closet wall and the flooring had to be ripped up and redone after the closet wall was removed as it should have been in the first place. New custom doors and moldings were made to match with the original doors on the main level of the house. One of the workers removed a top molding from a closet door on the first floor of my house so they could use it as an example. A month or so after all of the construction was done, I noticed it was not replaced. When I called the owner, he said that they didn't take it off, that they would never have done that, but he would send someone over to make a new one. As soon as that worker walked in the door he said, "yeah, we took the molding, but it's lost, you're never gonna see it again." The doors were absolutely beautiful, but they didn't make them. The cabinets I had wanted in the hall, ended up being limited because, although I told them where I wanted them in the beginning, they installed electrical lines in such a way that they would all have to be redone to make it possible to install the cabinet. Part of the electrical DID have to be redone to install the one cabinet that we do have. Now we are having some remodeling done to a room directly beneath where the bathroom work was done by LaPelusa. When they opened up the ceiling, they found that the plumbing that LaPelusa had done was leaking inside the ceiling. And, some sort of vent pipe ( I'm not a plumber) was just cut off and open!!! Explaining the sewer gas smell we had been noticing !! The pipe had no threads, indicating that it had been cut with a saw intentionally. Nice work!! I will never use them again, obviously, and I would never recommend them.
