We had a great experience with La Pelusa Home Improvement from start to finish. Brian was professional and timely with all communications. We ordered new windows and doors for our entire home. Needless to say, it was important to us that we had quality work done. Cliff and John installed the windows/doors in a very timely manner - and I think the house was cleaner when they left. They were very good at their craft and respectful to our home. We would highly recommend LaPelusa Home Improvement!

Brian LaPelusa was very professional and very thorough. He took the time to cover all the window options and helped us decide on which windows were right for us. He also brought us to the showroom in order to see the types of windows first hand and how they operate. The crew worked very quickly and the widows look perfect. The windows look like they were made for our home!

Brian La Pelusa should be on your short-list of people to call if you need new windows.  I was considering replacing five bedroom windows and asked Brian for options in my budget.  He arrived on-time and provided all his license, bonding and registration forms for the company.    After looking at the three options we initially discussed, he called me back and suggested I look at a competing brand, because it would better fit my price range.  That kind of honesty is rare.

Use them at your own risk because I guarantee that once they have your money and your troubles start, they won't be there to make amends.

Let me start by saying I contacted 13 builders all recommended on Angie's List. Some were not available and all (but 1) were very professional and polite. Mr LaPelusa was very polite and professional. He was very honest in his assessment of our project. His bid was among the highest we received ( by more than $100k). He knew it was a lot and understood when we respectfully declined. The only oddity about this builder was that they wanted us to purchase ALL the material upfront so they could stay on time. No one else asked for this and we were a little put off by it. I understand why they wanted it but no other builder did and no construction loan would have agreed to those terms either.

We had used a smaller construction company for some other jobs, but were worried they might not be able to handle this job as it involved some tricky things with installing a toilet in a bathroom that did not have one. Yes, we had a bathroom with a sink and tub /shower but no toilet..it's an old house with some odd features. There were some custom features to be done too, mainly cabinetry in the hall. Initially things went well, but when it came to the tile job around the shower, it was a mess. The grout was sloppy, and uneven. I do not think the person who did the tile knew what he was doing. He was a relative of the owner. Then they sent some other guy to chip off the messy grout. The tool he used left marks on the tiles. The solvent they used to get the marks off the tiles was subsequently spilled onto the brand new wood floors that had just been installed and finished. The floors had to be refinished and the second time they were done, the flooring people did not clean the floors at all so pet hair and human hair was stuck into the finished product, requiring a third refinishing of the floor. One of the bedrooms needed wood flooring installed, but a closet wall was to be removed. I pointed this out myself, to the same worker who did the tile (the owner's family member). When I was asked to look at the flooring later, they had not remove dot he closet wall and the flooring had to be ripped up and redone after the closet wall was removed as it should have been in the first place. New custom doors and moldings were made to match with the original doors on the main level of the house. One of the workers removed a top molding from a closet door on the first floor of my house so they could use it as an example. A month or so after all of the construction was done, I noticed it was not replaced. When I called the owner, he said that they didn't take it off, that they would never have done that, but he would send someone over to make a new one. As soon as that worker walked in the door he said, "yeah, we took the molding, but it's lost, you're never gonna see it again." The doors were absolutely beautiful, but they didn't make them. The cabinets I had wanted in the hall, ended up being limited because, although I told them where I wanted them in the beginning, they installed electrical lines in such a way that they would all have to be redone to make it possible to install the cabinet. Part of the electrical DID have to be redone to install the one cabinet that we do have. Now we are having some remodeling done to a room directly beneath where the bathroom work was done by LaPelusa. When they opened up the ceiling, they found that the plumbing that LaPelusa had done was leaking inside the ceiling. And, some sort of vent pipe ( I'm not a plumber) was just cut off and open!!! Explaining the sewer gas smell we had been noticing !! The pipe had no threads, indicating that it had been cut with a saw intentionally. Nice work!! I will never use them again, obviously, and I would never recommend them.

I have used them repeatedly over the years for a variety of things and they are fantastic. I love them. They are very prompt and they are extremely neat and polite. They ask for my input on everything. They explain everything very clearly and make sure that I am in agreement before they proceed with anything, and then they follow up. After they install something, if it is any supplies from their provider that they have a partnership with, they will come out and replace stuff for free if it breaks or if the supplies are damaged in some way. The price is a little on the high side but I get what I pay for with that one because of the quality of the service and the lifetime guarantee on the supplies if we buy it through them.

I had already used them twice in the past and it was their business, they are my go-to people and I called Brian out and the pricing was really expensive, which was fine and it was a big door.  I looked at other companies, he was giving me the models and the pricing, and it was not matching up to what I was getting from someone else.  Then I went to Pella and they said they didn’t make that kind of door, so I called Brian and said they don’t have it or make it and he told me, no he was at the showroom and that door was right in front of him.  When I told him I already checked with Pella and they said they didn’t have that door, he started to get a little edgy with me.  I told him I was just trying to compare the prices because I like to do my diligence and I told him I was just trying to compare apples to apples.  He said, ‘David I have the door right in front of me, you are wrong’.  However, I had already talked to Pella and they said they don’t have it, we wanted French doors and sliders and they come in different lines.  So I wrote an email to Pella and to Brian and said, ‘look you guys please clear this up’.  Brian called me up and asked me why I wrote that email because he said had already told me what it was, so why the mail and I told him I was writing it because I got two different stories, one from Pella, and another vendor and then one from him telling me something different.  Then he got back to me saying he got confused, he had so many other doors with them that he got confused, but he never once apologized or never once explained it to me.  I had two good experiences and the third one was not good.  There were three different levels and what was interesting was that he came back and told me if I was going to use one of those levels that he thought was crap, he wouldn’t put it in because he said it was not going to last a few years.  When I went to Brian the first time for the dining room door, I told him I didn’t want Pella, I don’t need the expensive ones and I just needed quality and he listened to me at the time and he did it.  He gave me a brand that he said was good, that I never heard of and that was less money.  It felt like he went from certain attitude to become a snob and so he just lost me, it was his business but he lost it.  I got three different quotes and they were all probably $4500 to $6000.  Even though his pricing is usually very expensive, the quality is very good, however, this time, I decided not to use him.

Brian LaPelusa came out and gave me a very detailed estimate of what they would do, the products they would use, and how much it would cost.
He kept in contact with me while the doors were being ordered from the manufacturer.
The job took two days to complete, just as he stated it would. I met him when the job was completed and we went over the work. I was very satisfied with the work and the quality of the installation.
I am also confident that Brian and his company will stand behind their work should I have any problems in the future.

The project went extremely well from initial discussions through project completion. After deciding we really liked our neighborhood and did not want to tear down and rebuild, we opted for staying put and updating our 50 year old ranch. We reviewed several design/build firms and selected LaPelusa based on their local experience and attention to detail during the preliminary discussions. There was a strong sense of family pride and commitment to quality in their work. We had good design sessions scoping out the specifics of the project introducing design elements we had not considered ourselves. Once the project started we were kept very aware of the status of all project activities and guided along with a list of selection activities for us to complete. The project continued on schedule and we often met with the general contractor / owner Brian LaPelusa to review progress. The project was completed ahead of schedule even with the addition of elective scope changes we added along the way. There were very few unexpected changes along the way. The quality of the workmanship is very good and we are extremely pleased with the outcome of our "new house". We spent more than we initially expected, but the quality of the workmanship and outcome of the completed project far exceeded our expectations.
Brian was very conscientious about his crew cleaning up every day and minimizing the impact on the neighbors. Our
neighbors commented favorably to us about his crew.
Brian has been wonderful to work with. He always kept us abreast of the daily progress, was very helpful in guiding us to make decisions and was very quick to resolve any concerns. His attention to detail shows in the high quality of work. His personal dedication made us feel like we were his only client. We would highly recommend LaPelusa Home Improvement to our family and friends.

I did a lot of research when trying to find the right company to do this work (which was long overdue). Many of my neighbors in my townhome community had already replaced or were looking to replace the doors/windows very soon. LaPelusa was really 1 of 4 suggestions from a variety of neighbors. In meeting with Brian LaPelusa, I felt he came forward with the most impressive and professional bid. He came out to meet with me to look at the project and provided me with a packet of information along with testimonials from previous jobs. They are a family owned business and they do no subcontract the work so I felt strongly that they would stand behind their work more than any of the others considered. Their price was a bit higher, but they also were putting in a high quality product (Anderson Windows).

Once we accepted their bid, we provided them with a deposit and a signed contract. They ordered the windows/door and called me well within the timeframe they were expecting to receive it. They were able to accommodate my schedule so they could come early during the week of Thanksgiving. Their team was outstanding. Very professional, personable, and did great work. Throughout their install (which was one full day with 3 men--I believe--, plus some wrap up work the following day) they asked me questions regarding preferences, etc. to make sure I was happy with the work. When complete, I was extremely satisfied and knew I had made the right decision.

Once wrapped up, I needed to hire some painters to finish up the interior framing and touch up work. They were concerned about getting the door off so they could paint a portion that they could not get to without removing it. I called Brian and they were happy to come by and remove the door during this process. In the end, the painting company had people doing the job that had experience with this and so I was able to call Brian and let him know it was not necessary for him to come by.

I also want to point out that when Brian came by for the initial bid, we also looked at the front door (which my neighbor had to replace as well). He thought we may be in the same shape, but after carefully looking at it, he didn't think we needed to do that work at this time. I very much appreciated his honesty and found him to be very credible.

Very happy with the quality of their work. The front exterior door was complicated due to the all aluminum and glass construction of the front of our house; the abilities of their skilled labor allowed them to adapt a stock door into our "custom" aluminum and glass home. The door has an amazing seal, almost air-tight. The patio doors and windows that were replaced had experienced a good amount of rot, which had actually gotten into the structural members of the house that the windows and doors are attached to. La Pelusa replaced those framing members, did any necessary sealing and caulking as well as the work that was necessary for the install of the windows and the doors. Once the windows and doors were in place, La Pelusa repaired all drywall and installed matching trim and, as per our agreement, left painting for us to take care of. Painting would have cost more, and we felt it comfortable taking care of it ourselves. All of there work looks great, and we were impressed with the skill of their tradesmen.

I purchased the fan prior to the installation so they charged me just for the installation. They did a great job. They were a little bit pricier for the work, however I had a hard time finding someone to come out and install the fan. I had used them in the past so I called them up about it and they told me that they did not typically install attic fans, however since I had used them in the past they would come out and do it just for me. I was very confident about the quality of their work, so the price did not bother me much.

Very smooth and quick. Showed up on time. Cleaned up nicely. Put down drop cloths. I was impressed that at least one of the workmen who did our job two years ago was still working for the company and remembered our project. (All of the men work for LaPelusa, they are not subcontractors.) The windows look beautiful and we couldn't be happier.
