Home Building
It was a terrible experience. They told us that they would start the home in the spring, but due to legal issues, they were delayed until January the next year. The foundation that they poured at that time suffered damage because of the temperatures. The house that they promised they would build, they had changed the layout. The roofing was not up to the local standards. The builders kept information from us. They did not put in enough screws to satisfy the local building codes. They did not install the flashing around the windows properly. The vapor barrier on the insulation was ripped. The crew would leave uneaten food in drawers and spilled drinks on the floors. I documented all of this with pictures. I took it to the village government and I got out of this deal.
