Stec Roofing put my roof on 15+ years ago. The ridge cap and hip shingles are disintegrating. The owner's son came out to inspect the roof one day just as I was leaving. I told him the hip and ridge cap shingles were disintegrating, and I was getting holes through the roof in two corners as a result of this. He said he would look at it and email me a quote, as I had to leave. (I had asked that they call first before coming out to look at the roof so I could arrange to be here, but they did not.) He then emailed me a $2000+ quote that included repairs to flashing around my chimney. I had just had an inspector come out after the tornado who said nothing about any flashing problems. I have called Stec 10+ times to get an explanation of the estimate and/or a revised estimate to include only the shingles that need to be replaced. NO ONE will return my call, not even the owner. The secretary who takes my messages is very nice -- but her hands are tied. The owner and his son are extremely unprofessional, and their customer service is terrible. I'll go elsewhere the next time I need a new roof. It's ridiculous.

Stec did a great job of painting my house in Wheaton.  Work was very professional and pricing was good as well. I would use them again.

Even thought it was over 4 years ago, I cant think of a single thing I was not happy with. They did a great job for me in Riverside, IL.

Everything has gone well.  The gentleman has been prompt and professional when responding to our inquiries, and his prices are reasonable.

Problem with Stec Roofing. Complaint by, Gerald P. Lahti, homeowner 1553 N. Columbia St. Naperville IL, 60563. Cell phone 630-334-6522. Complaint written 6/30/2008. Contract Facts: Vendor: Stec Roofing, 1314 59th St. Downers Grove, IL 60516, 630-971-1589. State of Illinois License No. 104-000828. Contract Date 3-18-08. Total cost - $8836.00. Work performed 4/14 and 4/15, 2008. Invoice sent 4/15/2008. Bill paid 4/28/2008 (my check # 9079). Work scope: Tear off existing roof. Install new roof, repair wood as necessary, install new gutters and downspouts. Our house was re-roofed in April 2008. In the process of re-roofing our home, a great deal of roofing gravel and other dirty debris fell thru the cracks between the plywood sheathing into the crawl space adjacent to our dormer bedroom. The dirt covered everything stored in this space. We discovered this on June 16 when we entered this space to get something. We also then discovered many nails protruding thru the plywood sheathing making it dangerous to crawl in there. It took 3-days for us to remove everything from this crawl space, clean it up, obtain new containers and re-stow it. The material damage sustained, although small in dollar amounts, is large in sentiment. Baby books and toys covered with grime are lost to our family. A call to Stec received this response the contract said owner contents below the roof should be protected (by the owner??) . The company accepts no responsibility for this situation. The contract, in fact, makes no such statement as claimed in the phone response. Nor have they offered an apology. This complaint identifies a total lack of consideration for owner s space below their work area. I cannot provide a positive recommendation for their workmanship and customer satisfaction; and in fact recommend that someone looking for a roofing contractor look elsewhere. A second issue with Stec may be with their state of Illinois license and the firm s history. A search of the Illinois Secretary of State web site (file numbers 51617742 and 60450013) indicates a change in ownership of the firm in 01/2000 from Ronald P. Stec to Hector A. Grijalva, and an involuntary dissolution of the firm on 06/01/2004. However, I could not find a record of Stec s continuing license with the state.

They were very skilled and qualified roofers as well as professional. They cleaned up very nicely after the job was completed. The day after they finished the job, you did not even know they were there.

I will not be having this company provide an estimate because of this fee.
