Excellent. Very responsive, good discussion and recommendations on size and length of drain and prompt proposal. Timely project completion; 1 long day within 2 weeks after sign off. Work done as proposed - we were very pleased with the quality of the work (deep, clean trench, gravel, drain pipe tie-in with downspout, etc) and recommendations for replanting afterward. We had our first downpour this year - it worked perfectly! We're delighted.

The experience with Shala Construction was great from start to finish. Vince came out multiple times to review options for the replacement of our existing deck. He was very patient with our questions, answering each to our satisfaction. We very quickly recognized the depth of experience compared to the other contractors we contacted on this project. Vince suggested adjustments to the project that would provide usable storage space beneath the deck while improving the aesthetics at the same time. Once work began the team arrived promptly every day and worked quickly to tear down and dispose of our old deck. They identified improvements to the framing that were required and build the new structure significantly stronger than the old deck. In working they were very careful to avoid damage to the landscaping and new A/C units that were directly adjacent to the deck area. Upon completion each day the team cleaned up the work area and stored their equipment and materials out of the way so we could continue to utilize the driveway. Overall the project proceeded right on schedule, was completed to our satisfaction, and the finished product looks great. Very happy with the work performed and with the Shala Construction team. I have happily recommended them to friends and family.

Very professional and a perfectionist. Cleaned up every single day. Worked all day. Very organized so that we were not waiting around while nothing was getting done. He had great suggestions and was very patient with us when we had difficult decisions to make. I have a few other projects, and he is the only one I will consider. I could not be happier.

Vince and Tony just completed a bathroom remodel, also converting an adjacent hall closet into a laundry room, and replacing several interior doors. There isn't enough space to describe all the positive things I would like to share. I had a general idea and Vince and Tony helped me with selecting design, colors and fixtures. His quote was fair and as he discovered issues, after demo down to the studs, he kept me abreast of unanticipated issues (e.g. floor was uneven, existing plumbing was not to code). The bathroom was demo'd to the studs in one day, and things moved very quickly, with work being done 6 days a week until completion. He coordinated very effectively, to get the shower glass door, and granite vanity top delivered timely. Tony was amazing too; both were very professional, efficient and aware of homeowner's concerns. For example, they pulled up existing hardwood from the closet (to be converted to laundry) and re-laid it, so when looking from the hallway, there was a seamless transition once the washer and dryer were installed. I requested the laundry room be built to accommodate a gas dryer, which required Vince and Tony to run a gas line across the length of the house, through the limited access crawlspace. But they did it. Another example of going above and beyond was the care Vince took to meet my challenging request. I wanted additional cabinets installed, to tie in with the vanity (prefinished). Vince did an exceptional job of staining the additional cabinets, one cannot tell they were stained to match the vanity. They cleaned up each day, and kept me informed of 'next steps' and timeline. Job was finished in less than 3 weeks. Vince even worked on his birthday! Both Tony and Vince take enormous pride in their work and I provide the highest recommendation possible. I will definitely hire again. See pictures. I am sorry the orientation of the photos is incorrect. I contacted Angie's List and they were unable to assist.

Due to a leaking toilet, we had damage to the tile floor, as well as to the ceiling below. Vince had done excellent work on a previous job for us so we selected Shala to do this job. We are delighted that we did. Vince and Tony carefully removed the toilet, vanity, and countertop to use again, removed the damaged tile, removed the damaged underlayment, installed new underlayment and tile, and then repainted the room. He fixed and repainted the ceiling below, They did an excellent job on everything they worked on, including doing a couple of extra things we asked for, that weren't initially discussed. They paid close attention to details, fixing some items that we hadn't even mentioned. We are extremely happy with the job and will confidently hire them again in the future.

Vince and Tony just completed a large deck rebuild for us. They were amazing to work with the throughout the entire process. Their attention to detail and precision is remarkable. Vince would stop periodically and ask us to come out and take a look at things to 1) make sure we liked it 2) see if we wanted to tweak the design at all 3) suggest edits to the materials/plan. Each time Vince suggested a new idea, we agreed with his feedback. Each evening before they left, they were sure to tidy up the space and even pressure wash the deck occasionally throughout the process to wash away mud left from rainy weather. It's clear Vince and Tony value and take pride in their work. The job completed is top notch. No corners were cut, no short cuts were taken. Our deck is gorgeous. We can't wait to have Shala Construction back to assist with other upgrades around our home.

Shala Construction was exceptional! Vince and his brother were able to demolish our deck in half a day, and five days later we had a beautiful space finished. Vince was very communicative from start to finish, explained the permit process and followed up regularly with updates. The workmanship of the deck is beautiful- exceptional quality materials, solid construction, we were so thrilled with the quality and process, we are looking for more projects to hire Shala for! Hassle free. Everything with the village was done by Vince. The work was organized and completed on time with nice craftmanship.

Vince and Tony are incredible craftsmen! They completed a deck and pergola for us last year, and their work was so incredible we hired them to renovate 2 bathrooms this year. Both bathrooms were gutted, but 1 required a complete redesign given we enlarged it, transferring the location of an adjacent walk-in closet. Vince did all of the drawings quite expertly. The final product of both bathrooms is just incredible. The attention to detail is second to none with Vince and Tony. They treated our home as if it were their own, as did any subcontractor that they needed to bring in (shower door, insulator, drywall, etc.). We used marble throughout both bathrooms, and wouldn’t trust anyone else with such high end finishes. Start to finish both baths were complete in 6 weeks. Bottom line, Vince and Tony are the absolute best. Don’t hesitate to hire them, you will not be disappointed in any aspect of their work....never met more hard working, conscientious, incredible guys!

Vince and his brother and father (I think) showed up exactly when they said and finished the building part in one day. He used cedar for railings and spindles, etc. and pressure treated wood for the treads. Vince gave us options for caps for the railings. What they built was really beautiful and strong. They waited for the wood to dry appropriately and came back on the first weather permitting day and painted the new structure to our specifications. He really is concerned about doing things correctly. The new stairs really improve the look of our home. Vince is excellent at returning phone calls and texts. I highly recommend.

We contracted with Shala Construction to repair our front porch. Vince met with us several times to discuss the work to be performed including options that were available for the flooring, railing, balusters and columns. We reviewed work performed for other homeowners on his website and we visited several locations in which Shala Construction had replaced/repaired porches. We found Vince to be knowledgeable, thoughtful, conscientious, and a delight to work with. He made suggestions that were well thought out and that resulted in an excellent porch replacement. We are extremely impressed with the work that was performed and the consultation that we received from Vince. We love our new front porch. It is exactly as discussed and envisioned. Shala Construction completed the work in about three and a half days. They (Vince, his brother and father) arrived promptly every morning and were delightful to work with. We were consulted with regard to the materials, the placement of columns and were given every opportunity to review the work as it was occurring. The site was always very clean—old material was disposed of promptly. We are very happy with the final product and would highly recommend contracting with Shala Construction.

Vince, Tony, and their father completed our new composite deck, pergola, garage, and a few miscellaneous carpentry jobs I needed taken care of. They are the most conscientious, quality oriented, competent, accommodating, polite, and kind contractors I've ever worked with. Their attention to detail is amazing (and I'm picky). Once they began the job, they worked quickly to complete it. I called Vince this week to tell him about a problem with my electric (I cut the line to my garage on accident), and he came as soon as he could and fixed the problem on the spot. Shala Construction is a class act, and I would hire them again in a heart beat. In fact, they will be remodeling our bathrooms this winter. Don't hesitate to use them and you won't be disappointed.

The entire project went well from the initial proposal through final construction. Our primary contact was Vince and he worked with his father and brother to complete the entire project. Everyone was very respectful worked hard each day until the job was completed. Vince was understanding of our needs and very easy to talk with about progress of work, daily schedules, and any in-progress changes we asked about. The only changes to the original contract price were ones we added to the scope of the project and pricing was very fair. The work area was cleaned up each day and the team took care of the surroundings throughout the work. The whole team did a quality job and made sure to pay attention to details. We are very happy with the project and would highly recommend Shala Construction.

spoke on the phone, looked over the job, mentioned the materials, said he would contact me with written estimate and then radio silence. he did note however that it was increasingly more difficult get reliable workers since most of the companies staff are undocumented

I chose Shala Construction based on the reviews here and what was said about their work ethic. I want a contractor that won't scrimp or settle regarding the products used and the quality of the work performed. Thoughout the job, I noted things that they were doing that were above and beyond what I was expecting, and they installed products (windows, etc.) that were far from the most economical choice, even though they could have bought cheaper items. My worst fear was chasing the workers around to make sure corners weren't being cut, and I was getting what I paid for. Happy to report my experience ended up being quite the opposite! I highly recommend them. I'm posting a photo that shows the larger of the 2 new rooms in the garage, and a bit of the smaller one. I look it on panoramic setting, so that's why it looks curved, even though it's not. The guy that installed the HVAC in the garage says I have the Taj Mahal of garages. I agree!

Excellent. Would recommend without reservation. Vince is a good communicator and skilled craftsman. He is honest, dependable, knowledgeable, easy to work with, a problem solver, and not cheap. My husband and I called him to rebuild a large cedar deck off the back of our house, but decided instead to have the deck built with the new composite material to avoid maintenance later. We researched the different materials, and Vice was very helpful in providing samples for our final choice, Azek. Work began and was completed according to schedule. Vince and Tony embodied industriousness and good attitude. We will be hiring Vince and Tony to remodel 3 bathrooms this winter.

Great! Shala was hired to rebuild the porch on a 19th c. Victorian house in the historic district. Shala was professional in all aspects. Excellent communication. The rebuilt is porch is exceptionally fine and authentic to the period. We especially appreciate Shala's attention to the finest details. Even our neighbors have commented very favorably on the results.
