Randy's Carpentry

We had a small wet bar insert in our family room, and contracted with Randy's Carpentry to remove it and install new dry wall over the insert. Randy gave a very reasonable estimate for the work and it the work was scheduled to be completed within a week. Randy did a good job of removing the wet bar without causing any damage to the house and removed all of the larger debris and waste items himself. While the wall was open and exposed, Randy took the initiative to suggest that we move plumbing and ductwork that was hidden behind the wet bar, in anticipation of future remodeling work that was planned for the future. After agreeing to the additional cost, Randy and his colleague went ahead and rearranged the water, sewage and HVAC ductwork so that they would not be an impediment to future remodeling work on the same wall. When the plumbing and ductwork was completed, Randy installed new drywall and did a very nice job of seamlessly mudding and finishing the wall so that it would be ready for painting (which was done by another company). Overall, Randy did a very good job in a challenging environment. After each day's work, he made sure that the room was vacuumed and clean before leaving the house, and he was always very clear on what he was doing and why. We were very pleased with his work and would recommend him highly for any future contracting work.

After researching many different suppliers and contractors, we chose Randy's Carpentry to do this work because he offered an excellent price, combined with creative ideas and input to the design and installation of our built-ins. The work required was extensive, including the removal of existing built-ins, plus some masonry work required to amend our brick fireplace to fit the planned new built-ins. He worked with a cabinet company to provide the base cabinet units for the new built-ins, but custom fit and installed the rest of the structure and all of the finished surfaces of the new built-ins (including TV and entertainment units' wiring) and a custom designed mantelpiece. He worked closely with us to make sure that we were happy with the each phase of the design as it was being done. The job took three weeks due to the delayed delivery of the cabinets, plus planned vacation time from the homeowners. At the end of the work, we are extremely happy with the finished product! The construction is very solid and secure, and the exterior surfaces were all finished to a very high level of quality, ready for painting and staining. We encountered a number of unexpected challenges during the project, and Randy and his colleague (John) handled all of them coolly and efficiently (such as the fireplace masonry work that had to be done), and he also provided some creative input on how we could improve the built-ins, such as by adding hidden electrical outlets inside the walls. We would highly recommend Randy for any construction, remodeling and carpentry needs that you have anywhere in the home.
