Work began on a new town home that I had purchased on July 2013. A few days before the work was scheduled to begin, I had to have emergency surgery and was in the hospital for 60 days. I thought the owner and his wife were good friends of mine, therefore I trusted them fully. The written bids they gave me came to $39,000. There were a few changes but nothing significant (maybe $2,000 worth). I was heavily medicated when I got home but found myself one day looking at my bank account and noticed I had paid them around $51,000 as opposed to $39,000. I purchased the paint and the wood floors. The cabinets that they installed were not the cabinets that I wanted. They installed cheap, knock down cabinets that Lowe's ordered as a favor. I received info about the quality of the cabinets from Lowe's saying they would never carry cabinets like these in their store. In May, 2014 I notified them that the doors on the cabinets were falling off. The owner just laughed at me and his wife, who I thought was my friend, said it could not be true because I had just had them over for a social function and that she would have noticed them when she was there. I hadn't told her about it because her husband asked me not to. When things started to fall apart even worse (loose doors, trim falling off, etc) another company had to come in and re-install the doors. I also had a problem with some of the wood floor boards coming up and notified the company but they did nothing. I had to hire an outside contractor to come in and make repair. I sent MRM at least 15 emails about this problem and not one time did they come look at the issues, rather they simply denied that it was true. I received a letter from his wife, who I thought was my friend, telling me our relationship was over because of my “bad behavior.”
