Tapes transferred to DVD or digital file (VHS, Betamax, VHS-C, Video 8, Hi 8, Digital 8, miniDV and microMV) Slides scanned with professional Nikon scanners. Photo scanning. Audio transfer of cassettes, LPs and reel-to-reel audio to CD or digital file.
I sent the slides via UPS, called to confirm that they received them. The finished scans were returned two weeks after I sent the slides. Although the images on the original slides were less than optimal, Memory Keepers did a good job of the scanning

Amazing job. Could not be happier. Turnaround was almost a week earlier then I expected. Excellent quality. UPS'd back to my house at a reasonable cost saving me a sixty mile round trip to pick them up. My costs included numerous duplicates and shipping and I found their rates very reasonable. Only complaint is the staircase leading to their office is so steep I think I passed St. Peter near the top. Totally worth the climb!

My photo show application did not appropriately burn to a disk for television viewing. My request was for Memory Keepers to do a burn that would "work". I would have needed to gather all my photos and music from scratch for them -- they wouldn't actually just be burning the copy I had already created in my photo show application. I decided that was too much work for me since I had already invested weeks of time developing my photo show and found another way around it rather than showing it on a television screen. Memory Keepers was extremely responsive in their multiple interactions with me trying to work through alternative processes. I would absolutely hire them for future jobs.

Everything was delivered on time and as requested. The owner was careful to understand the services and outcome I wanted. These were films that are precious to my family and I had been looking for someone I could trust to do this work. I preferred not to mail them somewhere for anonymous processing. After reading prior reviews I decided to go to Memory Keepers. I have no regrets and would use them again.
Description of Work: Converted a collection of 8mm family films to DVD's. Films ranged from about 50 to 70 years old. There were 3 large reels and 24 small reels. Made 4 sets of labeled DVD's for family members, and an additional DVD of one event for later duplication. Also provided digital files for possible future editing.

I love that they had a great space in downtown Naperville with all the equipment they need to accomplish this. Plus it was encouraging that there were other customers there, saying to me that their business is good and should continue into the future. My only concern was that I felt rushed when I both dropped off and picked up. But they were courteous and the job was completed with no problems to the films

I had used film transfer services with a big box company about a year ago but was not entirely pleased and didn't like the fact that it was sent out with TAT several weeks out. With Memory Keepers, the work was done on-site, I talked with the owner who does the work and was extremely pleased to have the work completed in under one week! The transfer charge was very reasonable and the DVD's were done very professionally. I really enjoyed working with this company and plan to bring additional work in the future.

Went very well. Unfortunately. unable to preview what was on the movies, but from memory I selected the order for the finished project. Overall, the finished project turned out to be a " real treasure." I had two more copies made to share with relatives, and they were delighted!! What a nice service, to bring back memoroes and go "back in time.". The only problem for me was the stairs to get to their office on the second floor. However, after the initial visit, I simply phoned in advance and called out from the bottom of the stairs when I arived. They came down to deliver the finished product, which made it much easier for me. Suggest if climbing 20 steep stairs is a problem, tell lthem on the phone. They willl come down to the front door to keep it simple.

The process was simple. I took my slides and VHS tapes to the store. I told them I wanted certain VHS tapes together on discs - I wanted to have the programs each child participated in on separate DVDs so that each child would have their own set. They gave me an estimated completion date and called me when they were finished. I picked up the the DVDs (and the slides and tapes). Everything was completed exactly as I had requested. The staff was very professional and efficient.
Description of Work: Memory Keepers converted all of my slides and VHS tapes of my children to DVD. Although this type of service is somewhat expensive, I felt it was well worth the cost. They were very professional and everything was done exactly as requested.

Memory Keepers did a great job. They cleaned the film, converted the film to dvd, separating each event in order by date, with menu separators so you could pick each section on a menu. The base cost was $60 plus extra for the cases, dvd cover art and duplicates and rush charge to complete in two days.

They met with me and gave me a detailed price and what to expect. I needed to buy an external hard drive so they could transfer the finished product for me. This makes it easier to work with the digitial files. They offer other services, but first I needed to chop up the clips and put them in chronological order before we could do anything else. They were very, very nice to work with and had this done in less than a week.
Description of Work: Took in all our old Super8 mm movies to have transferred to digital media. Inquire what you might need before you go so that you don't have to run out to buy an external hard drive right then. They would have told me that over the phone if I had known what to ask.

Memory Keepers made 6 DVDs for me that were simply duplicates of some home movies I had. They were quick and the quality is great. My only negative was their responsiveness - I initially sent an email inquiry about whether or not they could duplicate the DVDs and did not hear back. However, when I called, they were very easy to speak with and seemed familiar with that email message. When the DVDs were done, they were going to call and notify me, but didn't. When I called, they were ready and waiting (and they were done promptly). Overall, I'd use them again, I just had a couple little communication glitches where I slipped through the cracks. Quality was good, and they were very friendly.

We appreciate Customer's business and we are sorry for any communication problems that may have occurred. We were having problems with our website design/administrator services which was effecting our email receipts. We finally got it cleared up and received a bunch of emails at once. We were in the process of going through them when Tracy followed up with a phone call. We have since created our own website so that we can be in more control of the content and related services. I believe when Customer called to see if the DVD's were done, they were in our daily quality control queue. So they were done, but we hadn't finished our disc testing. Upon her calling, we did tell her it was ready for pickup as I tested her copies right then and there. She would have gotten a call from us within an hour or two of when she called. We also had them done sooner than promised. Customer is a great customer and we look forward to serving her again.

I thought I would be spending approximately $150 so I was surprised at $350 being the final bill. The work looked very professional so I let it go. Then when I listened to the CD's duplicated from the tapes, I realized that there was a lot of hissing noise from the tape. In fact, the original tapes sound better than the CD's. One tape (the one I had repaired) was inaudible in many spots. Had I known the tape was largely inaudibale, I would not have had it recorded. When I asked if they could make the bass louder, and turn down the treble (which was the hissing noise that was loud), the owner said that they don't have an equalizer. When I asked do some companies have equalizers, she said yes, but they charge more. When I said but I paid over $100 for this one tape to be copied on CD and I can't hear most of it, she said well, be glad you can hear some of it. For $350, I expected better recording quality. I would have rather spent more and had better quality tapes. I have since searched out companies to do this type of work, and I have to go into the city of Chicago or send my tapes somewhere for lower costs. While I wish they were less expensive, I cannot find anyone nearby to do the same work. They also have tried more lately to be more reasonable about prices and procedures. I have continued to use them on and off for old, precious tapes of mine that I cannot record, because they break. They are good at tape restoration.

1. Upon placing the order, we told the customer that the charge for audio transfer is $29.95 for up to 70 minutes on a CD. The customer had no idea how many minutes were on her tape, thus it was literally impossible to have given her a quote. We can't be sure how she came up with her own estimate of $150. IF we were able to put each cassette on it's own CD, the charge would have been $150 before making any copies. We did tell her when the order was placed that several of her tapes were 90 minute tapes, meaning they could hold up to 90 minutes if full and that it would take two CD's per tape if that was the case. 2. Most of the tapes were full, so it did take two CD's each for four of the five tapes. Based on this happening, we decided to give an unsolicited discount of 33% on the transfers since the average CD only had about 45 minutes on it. We also didn't charge the customer for the tape repair since we didn't notice the one tape was broken when the order was placed. Furthermore we discounted on our copy price, again unsolicited. Total discounts given equaled $148.95. The customer claims that on the cassette that had to be repaired in order to be able to transfer it that she paid over $100 to have that one cassette transferred. That simply isn't true, each CD was charged at $19.95 and this was the one cassette that did fit on to one CD, thus the charge for transferring this one cassette was $19.95. 3. The customer called to complain about the quality of the on tape that we had to repair in order to transfer. We explained then that we are in the business of transferring family memories, but we do not offer the much more expensive restoration services that high end audio production studios provide. Many times the costs for such a restoration project can run four to five times or more than the cost of a straight transfer. We asked the customer if the CD sounded the same as the audio cassette and she said yes. She brought the CD in and we listened to it and it sounded just as it did when we played the cassette. The subject matter was someone talking into a recorder. Given the hundreds of sound jobs we have done, we considered the quality of the original recording to be middle of the road. We did not say be glad you can hear some of it, that would, of course, be unprofessional and unkind. 4. We regret the customer ended up being an unsatisfied customer. This is the first time we find ourselves in a situation like this. We respect her right to post what she did, but it's simply not factual. Our other Angie's list customers' comments, we think, are more representative of the work we do. We have served thousands of customers since starting our business back in 2003 and we truly enjoy providing our valued services to families across the United States.
