CALL GEORGE HOME MAINTENANCE

George did not follow-up or return my call after the initial visit to assess work. George seems like a great guy, and he said he worked for a realtor which raised questions in my mind about whether he was really in the Handyman line of work or Realty business. The fact that George did not show any more interest in the business after the initial visit reinforced these questions in my mind. He also said most of his work was through word of mouth and not Angie's list and I have to wonder if George felt my job was too small, because the Realty fix-it-and-sell business is much bigger than "handyman" work. If this is indeed the case, while I respect service providers' choice to take on small or big jobs, I really would like them to list their service in the proper category in Angie's list or de-list from it altogether. I spend time and money when I use Angie's and this kind of fruitless effort is EXACTLY what I want to AVOID when I use the list. That's what yellow pages are for.

Professional job, keeping all scheduled appointments until the work was completed properly. Very happy with the results and would definitely call him again.

I was very impressed with George's review on Angie's List & left a VM on his machine. His wife returned the call & an appointment for estimation was set. George arrived on time, seemed very polite & friendly. He was knowledgeable about most of the things that we wanted to get done & appeared interested. Then on his way out, he told me that he will send an estimate. After my two follow-up phone calls & about a week later, I received an estimate in mail that was about 30% higher then the other two handymen (& they estimated on the spot). It was almost as if he went home & changed his mind (or got a better gig). What bewilders me is that he seems to fit in with the description of most of the other reviews, but maybe something about us was just not to his liking. Ironically, he was my first choice based on reviews in Angie's List & I had made up my mind to hire him, but for the lackadaisical performance.

EXCELLENT WORK. VERY ATTENTIVE TO DETAILS. VERY CLEAN AFTER WORK IS DONE. I WAS ABLE TO LEAVE HIM BY HIMSELF IN THE HOUSE. HE DID MORE THAN WHAT WE ORIGINALLY ASKED FOR AND WE WERE NOT CHARGED EXTRA FOR THE MISCELLANEOUS.

LEFT A MESSAGE ON THURSDAY AND THEY DIDN'T CALL BACK UNTIL TUESDAY (MONDAY WAS A HOLIDAY). BY THAT TIME I HAD ALREADY HIRED SOMEONE ELSE. I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY DIDN'T CALL BACK RIGHT AWAY SINCE THEIR ANGIE'S LIST REPORTS WERE SO GOOD. I MIGHT TRY THEM AGAIN THOUGH. (THE RETURN CALLER WAS POLITE ON THE PHONE WHEN SHE LEFT A MESSAGE.)

ALTHOUGH I DIDN'T HIRE GEORGE FOR THIS JOB, I WAS IMPRESSED WITH HIM AND EVEN MORE SO AFTER TALKING WITH THE REFERENCES HE PROVIDED. THE SOLE REASON I CHOSE TO HIRE SOMEONE ELSE WAS THE TIME IT WOULD TAKE GEORGE TO FINISH THE JOB. SINCE THE WORK WAS TO BE DONE IN A RENTAL PROPERTY, I NEED IT TO BE DONE QUICKLY. HOWEVER, WHEN I'M READY TO TACKLE A PROJECT AT MY OWN HOME, I WILL CERTAINLY CALL GEORGE.

CONSULTED WITH ANGIE'S LIST WHEN LOOKING FOR A HANDYMAN TO FULFILL REQUESTS FROM PROSPECTIVE BUYERS THAT WERE LISTED ON HOME INSPECTION. OTHERS WERE JUST GOING TO EPOXY ROTTED AREAS. GEORGE RESPONDED QUICKLY AND GAVE AN ESTIMATE. KNOWING OUR TIMELINE WAS TIGHT HE WAS THERE THE FOLLOWING WEEK. HE REPLACED ALL THE WOOD, DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB. AFTER HE LEFT I FOUND ANOTHER AREA THAT WAS NOT FOUND IN THE INSPECTION. GEORGE, ALTHOUGH BOOKED, WAS THERE FIRST THING THE NEXT MORNING AND COMPLETED THE WORK. IMPRESSED WITH THE QUALITY OF HIS WORK....A PERFECTIONIST.

GEORGE ONLY USES QUALITY INGREDIENTS. HE DOESN'T CUT CORNERS AND IS VERY TIDY AND CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT DOING HIS JOB WELL. LISTENS TO YOUR REQUESTS AND NEEDS AND LET'S YOU KNOW WHEN HE THINKS HE CAN SAVE YOU MONEY.
