We hired American Woodcraft Inc. (dba Flooring Contractor, Inc. www.flooringcontractorstore.com) to install prefinished hardwood floor for the entire first level of our townhome. During removal of ceramic tile, bottom of door frame was damaged and walls were scuffed. Trim from under the front door was not completely removed and when the contractor opened the door, he ripped weather stripping from the bottom. Custom wood vent in the powder room was not aligned evenly over duct. When we brought this to his attention, he stated "I don't know how that happened". We paid him in full and he stated would return to fix stripping for the front door. A few days later we found a wood plank chipped in the corner and filled in with crayon. He never told us about this mistake. We tried to contact him on his business number as well as his cell phone. He did not return our calls nor calls from our restoration company. When confronted, said he would not return to correct mistakes. His proposal stated one year warranty on labor and has not honored the terms of the proposal.
Description of Work: Install new wood floor.

I would not consider using them again. They did not finish the job they started. I would not recommend them. The work that he did do was very good work. He has good ideas, designs, and techniques. His employees doesn't always pay close attention to details. It had been close to two years that we used his services and right after the two year time limit, he refused to do any warranty work. He refuses to answer my phone calls to rectify the situation. I would suggest to anyone who uses this service provider to make sure someone is always available to supervise the workers. I would gladly have him return to come and finish the job in order to redeem himself.
Description of Work: We had ceramic tile and hardwood flooring installed. The job was started but never completed.

They did an excellent job. He came with a photo album of all of his past work. It all looked really good, one was ugly but that's what the customer wanted, and the workmanship was good. I thought they were A+ on the estimate. I got another estimate which was good but I'm still not sure which one I will do. I would recommend them from what I saw.
Description of Work: I had them come give me an estimate on redoing about 900 sq ft on our middle floor to our house.

They installed when we were away, and the crew decided on their own not to install the transitions. When I called, the owner said "I was going to give you a discount". Unfortunately, he didn't give us an estimate listing prices for each portion of the job, and we had opted out of some other work, so it was hard to know exactly what we were paying for (partly our fault). At any rate, the lack of transitions looked horrible, and we had to get them back to install the transitions. More importantly, it turns out our sub-floor is bowed in certain areas, and according to all the information I've seen, sub-floors out of level more than something like 3/16" over 10ft. should be leveled with underlayment. They did NOT do this. I found this out when I tried to install a toilet on the new floor, and 1/4" toilet shims were not sufficient! It was also obvious installing baseboards in some areas. In my opinion this is a failure to perform a pretty fundamental aspect of a proper installation.
Description of Work: Installed pre-finished Muskoka hardwood floors in our living room, dining room, foyer/front hall, a 1/2 bath, and closet. They also installed hardwood heating vents, and transitions to two other rooms. The total installation was between 500 and 600 sq. ft. We did the tear out and installation of new baseboards, etc.
