STAPLES THE OFFICE SUPERSTORE

We dropped the PC off with Staples in early March. Staples uses a 3rd-party servicer, and they sent the laptop out. We called once or twice over the next weeks to get a status update, and in April were notified that the computer was ready to pick up. The screen was working. However, when we got the computer home, we found that the battery (which was new) wouldn't hold a charge. We took the PC back to Staples and after checking they sent it out again. Several weeks later, they returned it saying that they replaced the battery and now it was fine. However, after checking it at home we saw that the battery wasn't holding a charge, and we returned the unit to Staples a third time. They sent it out again (this was June), and in August they returned the unit indicating that the battery really was charging, but that for reasons they didn't understand, the battery indicator on the computer wasn't seeing the charge. However, when we got the laptop home, we observed that the it would just turn off instantly if not plugged in. Then only a couple days after, the screen went dark again. We negotiated with Staples a refund of our original $369.99, which Staples did refund, on 8/28/10. Throughout the process, the guys in the store were polite and were consistently apologetic about the 3rd-party servicer they had contracted with to do the work. But, it's their 3rd-party servicer, and they're ultimately responsible for the outcome.
