ALLSTAR AUTO GLASS INC

It happens to the best of us....A pebble hit my windshield while I was driving on the highway, causing it to chip and crack. I started by calling my insurance agent (State Farm). I was told that this repair would almost definitely fall below my deductible of $500. As a courtesy, my insurance agent contacted Allstar Auto Glass and instructed them to call me. My agent stated that though I'd be paying for this repair out-of-pocket, I would get the 'State Farm rate", implying that I would get a discount since I was referred by my State Farm agent. I was told to expect a call from Allstar Auto Glass within a half hour, and I did. Alisia left me a message within about 20 minutes. She was very courteous and professional. I called her back, and she was equally courteous and professional throughout our conversation. She was very knowledgeable about the glass products offered. Allstar Auto glass was also very accommodating as well, offering to come out as soon as the next day, and at the location of my choice...no conditions. Their only shortfall was the price. Alisia quoted me $349 plus tax for the windshield (including installation). This sounded fair to me at first, but my gut told me to get multiple bids. I did so, and the next call I made was to an auto glass company I found here on Angie's List, who quoted my $190 for next-day, onsite installation. Coincidentally, they were located very close to my work, and they quoted me $170 if I was willing to bring the car to them. While IAllstar appears to me a competent, professional company, I'm not ready to pay nearly double to do business with them. Bottom line, if you are not sure how much something should normally cost, get multiple bids!!
