Mr. Sedano did a terrible job on my lawn and he over-charged me outrageously. He knew I had recently lost my fiance to cancer. My fiance had lived with me, and had always handled home and lawn maintenance. I have been trying to get on top of all the jobs that need to be done now and I do not know who his contacts were. By April 8, 2012, the lawn was getting long because of the unusually warm weather. I happened to meet Mr. Sedano that day and asked him if he could mow and fertilize my lawn. He agreed to look at it and met me at my home. Sedano walked around the yard and told me it would be $800 to mow the lawn twice and apply fertilizer. Stupidly, although it seemed really high, I gave him a check for $800. He had fertilized and cut my sister's lawn nearby. Her lawn is about 1/3 the size of mine. I asked her what she paid and she said he charged her a little over $100 for the same work he did on my yard. The cost of mowing and fertilizing my yard should have been about $300 -- there was no way to justify $800. We called Sedano and he said, "Oh, I had to mow the lawn twice! It was a lot of work and there were sticks that I had to pick up." Even two mows would not have justified $800 and after reasoning with Sedano for some time, he gave up and said he would exchange the $800 check for a check in the amount of $450. I agreed, believing I was lucky to get any of my money back. But $450 was still way too high! I went over to my home and inspected the work after exchanging the checks. Sedano DID NOT MOW TWICE. The lawn looked terrible -- nothing like it always looked after our old lawn service cut it every week. The job looked as if he had cut the lawn with scissors. Big tufts of grass were uncut and sloppy looking. The clippings were left on the ground along with the sticks! I found the name of our old lawn service and hired them going forward. They are fabulous and are charging me a small fraction of what Sedano charged me. I left Sedano a message asking him to call me back. He did not. This guy has no scruples. He overcharged me by a massive amount. He did not do the work he said he had done, in breach of our agreement. His workmanship was terrible! I felt violated. It has been hard enough dealing with my fiance's death and for Sedano to take advantage of me under these circumstances was horrible.
Description of Work: Sedano mowed my 7/8 acre lawn once, and applied fertilizer. My lawn was overdue for a mow and was pretty long but not over the top, not a field, had not gone to seed. Sedano's work was terrible. When he was done, the lawn looked as if it had been cut with scissors by someone just starting beauty school. There were big tufts of uncut grass along the edges, some in the middle of the lawn, and the mowing pattern was choppy, with ragged, random turns.
