Green Attic Insulation

First of all, I purchased the big deal from Angie's List for $99 for 1 mold sample (to be sent to a lab) and a visual inspection. Be FOREWARNED that this vendor is actually charging $55 for this same service outside of Angie's List and actually mistakenly sent me invoice for that amount. They called me afterwards to say they sent me an invoice to which i responded that I had already prepaid on Angie's List. Then when I checked the invoice it was only $55 and not the $99 I paid. I reached out to Angie's List and they contacted the vendor who then called me to apologize and they send me a check for the difference. Another thing to note (maybe not their fault), I was told the mold testing takes 3-5 business days and it actually took about 7 business days. Our issue was time sensitive so this was a big problem for me as well.

We went with all their recommendations and were assured it would help are problems with humidity and temperature issues upstairs. The work took several weeks to complete due to total lack of communication between the company and the crew. The crew showed up asking what needed to be done because they had no idea. They didn't get the work done. They came back a few weeks later to complete the work once the attic fan came in that we ordered. On the second day he was supposed to install the attic fan and complete the rest of the work (which was quite a bit). The crew arrived and they told me that the attic fan I had purchased had failed 3 other times with other customers. I specifically had sent the model I was about to order from Costco to the company to make sure it was good to install and now I was being told it wasn't good. Then they attempted to install it in the attic and found there was another attic fan already there not knowing that the fan was supposed to be installed over the garage. They asked where it should be installed over the attic and somewhat questioned if that was going to be necessary and I have no way to answer that question and frankly its very upsetting to think that we are spending an exorbitant amount of money for something that is not necessary or is going to help our problem. After the fan was installed, he said okay that's it...when no other work had been attempted and he seemed to have no idea or no recollection the vast amount of work still needed to be completed even after I showed him everything. Then he suddenly remembered. I took him to our bathroom where the problem is still continuing with a hot area. He said he knows the insulation work was good, because he did it himself. I said I wasn't questioning his work and wanted to know if the attic fan was going to help this problem. He said maybe not...into which I replied then why am I spending thousands of dollars and taking a ton of time off of work and my schedule for all of this to not fix our problem. The next time they came they showed up 2 hours late. There was no apology. They said the owner couldn't make it to check the work that was to be done because he was stuck on traffic. We called the owner and he told us a different story so somebody lied to us. In the meantime the crew leader kept assuring us he knew what he was doing unlike the two crew guys he had hired. I also noted that the R-12 insulation that was done in the basement was really R-10 which was not told to us and I happened to see in the basement. He gave us a discount on the insulation but it's not what we ordered and now not as effective. The owner did a walk through with us on our house and was professional and had an explanation for all the issues. I don't think they explain how unprofessional everything was. There was no excuse for all the issues. Worst of all we still have a terrible humidity problem and upstairs temperature issues that were not solved when we were told what we were doing would improve or solve the issues.

It went fine. They did not charge anything further. They did excellent. They had little children around and they were kind and it worked well. The price was fine. The quality was fine. They were very responsive. I think they had to reschedule because they were not able to come when they anticipated, but they let us know and it worked out OK. They were very professional. I would use them again in the future.

All went well. One minor issue we are still addressing with the company.

Inspection done thoroughly and for that I gave A grade but Given higher quotes hence went with other company hence mentioned B grade for price.

Messy project - had to come back again to fix a few things.

Ceiling collapse on both floors, both accidental but created a much larger mess than would have been expected. One was a foot through my 1st floor ceiling and the other collapse of room drywall ceiling as it was 1/4 inch drywall and we were not told it was that thin and wouldn't handle the weight/pressure of the insulation.

Very thorough job of insulating my 2 attic spaces. Sealed all openings around the roofline and attic fans with foam, built drywall boxes around all of the canned lighting fixtures and ceiling fixtures. Insulated the transition walls between the attic spaces and bathroom (it was 10 degrees colder than the rest of the house before the job). Repaired and insulated the doors to the attic spaces. The price for what they did was very fair. They had a 4 man crew working all day at my house. In the end they blew in 18 inches of insulation. That's a lot.

They were extremely informative and very knowledgeable. They encased the pipes that the rehabber left exposed in the crawl space so that they won't freeze again which was a huge help. They walked me through the beginning & end of the service and talked me through any alterations they needed to make during the service. They did thermal imaging to assess where all my insulation issue are in the house. Thru also have several payment options if needed. All in all it was a great experience.

Got a quote and day set up very quickly before the holiday - which was great. Unfortunately that is where the good stopped. Being early is normally a good thing but the technician showed up 6.5 hours early (8AM instead of 3PM) and sent other workers away from the job that were scheduled to work. The insulation process went okay but there were issues that included a very large pile of insulation in the finished crawlspace that had to be addressed with 2 follow up calls and a technician returning. When the technician returned after the time window I was given, he was unprofessional, telling me the crawlspace was a different space and that he left the kitchen clean. After sweeping up the crawlspace and telling me he couldn't vacuum he then began to ask about the patches they put in the drywall, and began touching the wet paint on the walls with his bare hands, resulting in us having to pick insulation out of wet paint to which he replied "oh, looks like another job" and then left. Will give them all the benefit of the doubt. The price was good, the scheduling and work was fast and of decent quality, but they left a mess in the house and on the street and the technician was less than professional during both visits.

My home was built in 1995, has a finished walkout basement and finished walk-in closet above the three car garage. I purchased the home about three year agos and noticed several cold rooms (e.g.bedroom, closet) and a drafty, cold basement. I love the home but realized it will require some investment to improve the comfort level. I called Green Attic and Dumitru, the owner, came out, and provided a completed a detailed inspection using their sophisticated equipment. He explained all the issues and potential improvements I could invest in if i wanted to improve the efficiency of my home. The original builder cut corners and neglected to properly insulate the home. Dumitru provided a quote and Oksana seamlessly facilitated the communication process via email. She is extremely responsive and accommodating to questions and requests. I decided to invest close to $7000 to properly insulate my home including the attic, basement, and several rooms in my room. The team arrived on-time and spent ~1 week working on the project. They were extremely courteous and professional the entire time. Along they way, they explained the process and took before and after pictures. It was a large complex job that required navigating several tight corners and knee walls. They worked hard and it's clear they took pride in their work. The before and after photos showed off the craftsmanship in their work. The project was completed in May 2016 and now that winter is finally here, I am enjoying the benefits. The home is more comfortable and I dont feel any more drafts in the closet, bedroom or basement. My son can roam around the basement without any concerns about their comfort level. Finally, my utility bill was cut in half! I attached several photos including my utility bill. The benefits are real and I couldn't be happier with my investment.

Dumitru is very punctual and responsive. He is very knowledgeable and fully professional about home energy efficiency. His workers were polite and professional and cleaned up after all their work. All work was completed in a timely fashion, despite some technical difficulties due to the age and condition the house.

The quoting, scheduling, and testing went seamlessly. The installation had a 2 minor hiccups, but the team and their management handled them well. They were able to install the insulation while making minimal cuts in our walls, cleaned up behind themselves well, and did all the work in one (long) day. They filed for rebates to bring the price of our service down by $700, all we had to provide was a couple bills and sign the rebate form. It could not have been easier. I would recommend this team to friends, neighbors, family.
