BUSSE'S FLOWERS & GIFTS INC

It was a horrid experience! I have used this florist for many years, and although expensive, they usually never disappointed. They recently moved from a spacious and clean store, to a dumpy location in an old building in downtown Mount Prospect. The store they now have is totally unappealing and over-crowded. It is not a pleasant place to shop. The staff we encountered were rude and more intent on answering their personal phone calls and fuming about ongoing business issues with the store than on helping us out. We went during lunch thinking it would take perhaps 10 minutes. It took 45, and my daughter was late going back to school. Had we had an alternative, we would have walked out in the middle of the transaction. A sour and dowdy employee waited on us and made many negative comments about our supposedly poor choice of flowers and about the large sum we were spending on a "mere teacher". She appeared to have no knowledge of flower arranging or how flower arrangements should be put together and wrapped. The mess with which we ended up would have looked better had my 7-year-old put it together! She was obviously unhappy about her job situation, and kept talking about what "they" were doing to her and her work schedule. She was also painfully sloooooow. Finally, putting civility aside, we grabbed what we could, dashed out the door, and attempted to fix the mess in the car on the way back to our destination. Something is obviously going on with this business and with the family who owns it. I would not recommend stopping here for anything fast, or anything that looks attractive, for that matter. Even the flowers seem not to be fresh. A real horror!!
