We were greeted immediately by David when we walked in. He was with another customer and we waited about two minutes until he was finished. When we asked about silver patterns, he looked with the eyepiece and immediately identified the pieces. He then went through the entire collection and separated the silver from the silver plate flatware. He explained the value of each, then showed us the inside of the hollow handle knives. He said that they were filled with concrete to preserve the integrity of the handle. He explained that the set was very well used, and would not have resale value, only melt down value. He weighed it, went over the formula, wrote it down so we could decide what to do with the pieces. We had some pre-1965 dimes, and he explained the formula for determining the value of the coins. Part of the formula involved the spot price of silver, and he suggested watching the spot price for awhile before making a decision. We were most impressed with our visit and look forward to doing business with David at Morton a Grove Coins and Collectibles. Thank you!

I have been charged w/ breaking up my late aunts household. We thought we had items of value. This place is great at explaining just what is value and what isn't. In the long run , was not the answers I wanted ho hear .... but they cut to the chase and saved me tons of time !!

I was looking to sell my dad's coin collection that I had inherited. I found Morton Grove Coin by looking at Angie's list and Yelp. Upon entering the store I was immediately approached by a friendly employee who began to go thru the coins and separating them into separate piles. Then his boss came over and began to appraise and tell my sister and I what each coin was worth. He was more then happy to give us information on the coins and why they were worth what they were worth. In the collection was something called a love token and he explained the history behind that. He was very knowledgeable and he made the whole experience enjoyable. I will recommend this business to my friends and would use them again.

I called the day before and received polite, friendly information. When I arrived, one of the proprietors remembered that I had called. My coins were reviewed in a prompt manner, and within half an hour I was on my way. They seemed to know their stuff.

I first took my gold and silver items to GOLDMAX, a nationally advertised gold buyer. They examined and weighed my items. They performed standard tests including: magnetic, rubbing, and acid. They offered me $235 for everything I had. When I said that I would have to get a second opinion from someone else, they called their supervisor on the phone, said that they could give me a “bulk rate”, and changed their offer to $733. Over their objections, I left to get a second opinion I took the same items to Morton Grove Coins and Collectibles (later on the same day). David Fishman, the owner/operator, did similar examinations, tests and weighing. David offered me $874 for the same items. I accepted his offer on the spot and he paid me in cash. David seemed to be honest and knowledgeable. He struck me right away as a person I could trust. And, in light of my experience earlier in the day with the nationally advertised gold buyer, I believed his offer to be fair and honest.

The guys at Morton Grove Coins were very friendly, honest, and helpful. They took the time to go through every coin, and talked to us about the different weights, values, etc. They are extremely knowledgeable at Morton Grove Coins, and my husband and I were more than satisfied. We will be using them for similar services in the future, and will definitely recommend them.

This place is great. I started collecting coins a couple months ago and have been to almost every coin shop in the area. Morton Grove Coins is, by far, the best. Dave has went out of his way to answer any questions and give me tips to collecting and investing. All the employees here are helpful and knowledgable. I have been here about 4 or 5 times and even brought my girlfriend here. She loved this place, too. Dave has even told me that I should go to other dealers and check them out. I did, but I haven't found the customer service that is here. Keep up the professionalism! I will definitely keep doing business here.

A good friend recommended Morton Grove coins to us after we had gone to another gold dealer to sell our old jewelry and were not quoted what we thougfht to be a fair price. Morton Grove Coins gave us substantially more than the previous dealer was offering and was very easy to do business with. Also, many very interesting collectable items for sale in the store.

I was a walk-in with no appointment. I had various item types - ie, gold coins, jewelry, etc. , so various individuals got to work appraising. All were polite, courteous, knowledgeable and worked efficiently to go through items. They also expressed interest in item backgrounds and provided explanations beyond what I knew about them. It took a total of about 30 minutes and I walked out with a check. Would definitely recommend.

The owner talked me through the process of selling my jewelry and helped me evaluate which pieces were still valuable, just in need of attention. I am happy with the value placed on my items, both sold and kept. I highly recommend taking the time to look around the shop, they have many interesting treasures. I enjoyed learning more about the history and providence of many of the coins.
