GB Hardwood Flooring did a great job on refinishing hardwood floors in 5 rooms and a staircase. They were covered with carpeting for over 60 years and they were able to make them like new. Very impressed with their crew – on time and worked diligently until the project was completed. I would recommend them to anyone.

I needed a dining room, powder room, hallway, and kitchen refinished in a small window of time while I was out of town, and George delivered. The floors look amazing and I think he left my house cleaner than when he arrived. Anyone who works with contractors knows the value of one who is timely, communicates consistently, does quality work, and finishes on time. George does all those things - he responded quickly to my request for an estimate, arrived on time for the estimate, stayed in touch for scheduling, made my floors like amazing, and followed up afterwards. Highly recommended.

The Oak hardwood floor was installed 6/2019. The floor boards were observed served to be separating in February 2020. The gapping was so significant in areas that two nickels could be placed side by side in the gaps. We called the company who installed them to inquire and was told this happens in Winter as the result of low humidity & that the gapping is present even in their own floors. I hired a HVAC guy to install a built in humidifier on my furnace. This did not remediate the gapping. I waited until summer, since that is when the humidity is most abundant & still the floors did not return to normal. I hired TWO certified flooring inspectors. BOTH determined the gapping to be a result of installation error (nails too far apart for these wide planks.) GB flooring will not admit fault, nor fix my floor.

"Hi [Member Name Removed], We were sorry to hear that this happened to your floor. The wood fibers in hardwood floors swell as they absorb moisture and shrink as they release moisture. In wider floorboards, such as the ones installed in your home, this expanding and contracting is much more obvious than in smaller floorboards. That's why it's very important to have a working humidifier and properly regulate the humidity in our homes during cold winter months when the heat is turned on. Unfortunately, by the time you noticed the separating in your floor and installed a humidifier in February, the damage had already been done and no amount of humidity would be able to repair the gaps. We assure you that this was not an installation error and was caused by the moisture in your home not being properly regulated during the wintertime which unfortunately is not something we can control. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us."

I hired GB Hardwood to replace our old (maybe even original) floors in our 100-year-old+ condo. I could not have been happier. The finished product looks and feels amazing. What really set GB apart was the level of service. Given the age of the building, I was concerned there would be surprises once the flooring was removed that increased costs and extended the timeline. Nonetheless, we went away for a week while the work was ongoing, half-expecting to return to a half-finished job and a home in disarray. Instead, GB finished early, they addressed all surprise issues promptly and without extra charges, and our home looked great when we returned. George communicated with us throughout the process and promptly answered all questions. GB also had better pricing than alternatives I considered. If I ever needed floor work done again, I would contact GB and GB alone.

I was very happy with the whole experience of having my floors done. I love how beautiful the floors are. I am thankful I found GB Hardwood Flooring. They communicated with me and arrived at the time indicated or called to let me know if there were changes. I had a few ideas that complicated the project, like installing a crawlspace door in the center of the kitchen. They listened to me explain and gave me a few ideas as to how it could be done. They did an amazing job. The crawlspace door is almost invisible. One bedroom had black tile glued to the wood underneath. They took several hours to get the glue off and it looks the same as all the rest of the floors. Half of our front room is new wood and the other half is restored, but there is no difference. It all looks brand new. The workers were friendly, helpful, courteous, and very knowledgeable. I would totally recommend them to family and friends without reservation. I am very thankful I found them. The floors make a huge difference in the house. Their knowledge and advice were very helpful.

Gorge and Ben helped to install the prefinished hardwood floor I purchased from a big box store on discount. The project went really well from the beginning to the end. George and Ben are both very polite and hardworking young men. They provided the best quote for the job, showed up on time every day, and completed the job in 3 days with quality as promised. I really appreciate them keeping my house clean during the job and hauling away all the carpets, debris and floor packaging boxes after they are done. I couldn't be happier for hiring them for the job and knowing them as well.

These guys are great!!! They are honest, hard working, and passionate about flooring. We emailed them and George came out to see us the next day and two days after that fixed the flooring in the house we’re moving into. They were conscientious about matching the color, they didn’t try to oversell us—they just fixed what needed to be fixed. They did a beautiful job. We hired GB Flooring to refinish about 700 sq. ft. of existing oak flooring and install 800 sq. ft. of new oak flooring across three levels in a townhome we purchased in Evanston. One dreams of every person they work with being as professional and skilled and George - seriously, his work was first-rate as is his manner was fantastic. Communication was perfect. Our floors look AMAZING and at a cost that was very reasonable. He and his brother take pride in their work and it shows.
