BUSH CONSTRUCTION

My mother hired Bush Construction to put an addition onto her rental
house (one bedroom and 2 bathrooms with a full basement). He said the
project would be done by August of 08 and would cost $40,000. He
finished in the spring of 09 and it cost almost $80,000 to complete, and
that was after we removed windows and solar tubes from the plans and
did the painting and stained the trim ourselves to save money. They put
the bedroom windows in the wrong place, sided around some windows
differently than others, the new basement walls didn't even touch the
old ones so there's a big crack up the sides where water and mud pour in
when it rains, one of Bush's men somehow gouged a big hole in our
laminate flooring that I didn't see until after the job was finished,
and the men smoked in the addition so much that the brand new rooms
smelled like cigarettes almost as much as they smelled like paint. I've
heard rumors that the business had an embezzling problem at the time our
work was being done so maybe that's why the cost doubled but we've
never heard from them to straighten anything out so I assume he just
underbid to start with.
