Strainis Construction Services

This job couldn't have gone worse if I hired a 9 year old. Pathological lies, takes your money and does not work. We paid $17.5K for maaaybe $10K work of shoddy construction work that look 3X as long as it should have. Since firing him we've had to repay someone new to redo almost everything he did as it was all done quickly with no attention to detail, or completely wrong. We've lost thousands of dollars, had irreversible damage done to our cabinets and wood flooring due to poor installation, and been stuck in a kitchen remodel that should have taken 8 weeks for 5 months with no end in sight because we didn't do enough research and chose Ben Strainus as our contractor. I'm not sure Ben Strainus has ever actually done work on houses. Do not let yourself get conned. Keep your $$$ and run fast from Morris Construction, Strainus Construction, Strainis Co, Strainus Contracting Services or any number of the other names he changes his business to to fly under the radar and steal money from people. Look him up by any of the above company names and you'll see multiple reviews of him stealing money and not doing any work on Angie's List and BBB. I typically give businesses with a few bad reviews the benefit of the doubt as I know bad news travels faster than good and people can be finicky. But, after this situation I had to share my experience and confirm - the reviews are true - RUN FAST AND FAR from Morris Construction.

It did not go , We paid half up front and the rest when the job was done . He cashes our check $1800.00 and never called or came to do the work. It would been one thing if he called and said I am sorry I can’t get anyone to work so I will give you your money back but NO HE DID NOT KEPT IT. My husband had called and told Mr Stainis we need the work done so we can get our house back on the market and if he can’t then please just give me my money back and let go but , HE HAS NOT DONE THAT. What KIND OF BUSINESSMEN IS LIKE THAT. We had to call about her company to do the work.

I was all set to use this contractor, to build a wheelchair ramp addition to our deck. But at the last moment, since I am a disabled veteran, Home Depot and Disabled American Veterans stepped forward with donation of materials and contractor, which completely changed the circumstances. 
But I reviewed many photos showing the quality of Ben Strainis's work, and his work ethics and expertise were evident in his professional interaction & response to my inquiry and requests concerning the project. He was also quick to respond via phone, email, text & facebook messaging, I cross checked and compared his bid for the project with other estimates I received, and it was more than fair and reasonable for the area and the project.
I wouldn't hesitate to refer this contractor if anyone is looking for an all around general home contractor with a specialty in woodwork building projects.  Let me reiterate, the ONLY reason I didn't use this contractor is because of the donation of materials and labor as previously stated in this review.

He's very conscientious and if we ever have a problem, then he's right there to fix it.  He did insulation for us too and we found a spot where he let somebody help him and they hadn't got it all the way in.  We called him and he re-rented the machine, came in and finished it up.  I have 2 jobs pending with him right now.
