I paid On Guard Fence company dealing with the owner Tony Baio $5,000 ($4800 for paying cash) to install 140 ft of aluminum fencing with 3 gates. I did not get the fence that I was quoted. HE installed some inferior product. The 3 gates were not attached to the stronger gate posts as promised either. His installers did not follow the property lines as laid on with stakes and cord. There are fence sections leaning over. Others undulating inexcusably over level ground. The mounds of dirt from the holes was piled on top of shrubs , ornamental grasses and perennials. His installers apparently did not speak a word of English. With about the 2nd or the 3rd hole where I saw this I told them to not smother the landscaping. They smiled and nodded. I regret presuming they understood. Replacement of what was smothered or carelessly trampled is in the hundreds. As for the fencing itself Tony Baio sent amateurs. All sections require 6 screws..3 on each side. Of the 22 sections 15 were missing at least 1 screw..11 2 screws and 5 sections the incompetent or indifferent installers left out all 3. Each line post has 3 prepunched holes. The fools did not pay attention to how they first set the posts in the ground. So when they went to install the absolutely critical anchoring screws they were on the opposite side of the fence. Gross incompetence!! Of all the posts not one was fully set in concrete. Tony Baio tells me that you always want to leave a gap about 8 inches down without concrete. BULLSHIT! The gap between all 3 gates is wrong. Incompetent work! 2 gates will not close properly. The latch pins are to far away for the latch to engage. Tony Baio charged me $4800 and could not send people who can read a tape measure!? Caps for the gates were never provided...I paid for them! His installers wentvto leave with 2 sections I paid for as spares and said they were 2 far buried...more like hidden....and they had another job but would bring them back the next day. I never got them . OK DO WHAT HAPPENED WITH TONY BAIO OVER THIS? WELL I GOT HIM TO FINALLY CONE AND SEE THE MANY DEFECTS WHICH HE COULD NOT DENY. HE DID GIVE ME THE BS ABOUT THE HOLES SHOULD BE WIDE OPEN. HE ASSURED ME HE WOULD SEND PEOPLE OVER TO MAKE THE REQUIRED CORRECTIONS. After a month he sends 2 different men who did not seem to have a clue what to do. They tried to convince me that everything was just fine. One man kept rudely saying , hey Bud do not keep telling us what to do;. His tone of voice was outright abrasive and disrespectful. After that I managed to get through to Tony Baio who blew me off. I should have done a more thorough search of other forums....not this one....where the complaints are many and all very identical. Shoddy incompetent workmanship...and no resolution from the company. CHECK THE INTERNET FOR ALL THE COMPLAINTS BEFORE YOU MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE. I have several dozen pictures. Can not post them here. My email to get them is [email protected]. Tony was excellent! Very responsive and professional. Can not say enough about his crew. Had a fence removed and new one installed. The crew was respectful and courteous to not only our property but neighbors. Not one scrap left behind. Left the yard as they found it. Had cedar/ chain link fence installed. The cedar fence quality and construction was exceptional compared to neighbor’s that used another company! I felt the cost of the project was very reasonable!
