"This was an excellent design and it was finished off with some elaborate glass doors that immediately take over the room. This customer reached out to us after hearing about our services from a friend. Our reviews speak for themselves. Customers will deal with one person throughout the entire process eliminating miscommunication. We're a small shop that's capable of handling projects of all sizes and always strive for delivering high end results."
"This customer first hired us in 2017. 3 years later, we've completed 3 projects for her and is an ideal candidate to express to others how we operate. The customer will deal with 1 person throughout the entire process, will get responses in a timely manner, will have appointments met on time and will receive a finished project that will exceed expectations. As the owner of A-Squared, I can't express enough the pleasure that it's been working with this thoughtful customer that has trusted us with her projects over the years."
"We fabricated hutch-style cabinetry in a living room and dining room. A bench seat was also part of this project. The custom cabinetry was painted an olive color and had a shaker look. Overall, this project added over 30' of shelving storage that's also 9' high."
"This was a great project to be a part of. The customer was very easy to work with. They knew what they wanted and made that clear. The end result was a beautiful kitchen that came together well and is extremely functional."
"Thank you to our customer for providing some feedback for others to see. This was a beautiful design that included bold countertops and benchseat as well as shaker drawer fronts. There's plenty of storage options as well as a flip-down front that's attached to a pullout shelf that will serve as a writing surface. Our customers were extremely thoughtful. They had items moved out of the way - which any tradesman sure appreciates. While we are a small company, we handle projects of all sizes. What also sets us apart is that our customers deal with one person through the entire process. This is where bigger companies tend to overlook details. Their sales team passes information to their project managers who then relay that over to their shop foreman and ultimately to the woodworker."
"Our clients gave this project plenty of thought and the end result was a space in their kitchen that achieved several things. We created a huge pantry cabinet along with a desk and a large display cabinet with lights and glass shelves."
"We fabricated 2" thick floating shelves for both sides of the fireplace area. The customer contacted us with a good idea of what they wanted and we were able to put a game plan together and got the job done. The installation of the 8 shelves will provide plenty of storage options for their book collection."
"We were originally contacted with a request to fabricate hutch style bookcases on either side of an existing fireplace. While we were determining the best way to tie everything in, we explored the possibility of creating a new fireplace mantle/TV surround. We ended up duplicating an online image that the customer found with a few tweaks to the design. Given the wall space, we were able to create a built-in wall piece that stands out and captures the attention of visitors. Our customer was clear on certain things that had to be met, such as a space for firewood to be stored. We laminated the interior of one cabinet for this purpose. The image that was provided was enough for us to use our creativity and generate shop drawings for approval. The 2 day installation went smoothly with every detail addressed carefully."
"This was a great challenge for us. The field conditions were such that we had to build this project in sections and allow for walls that were not-so perfect. The customer's were awesome to work with - they informed me of their storage concerns and we figured out ways to maximize their space. The end result was very satisfying as the cabinetry looked great and will provide many years of storage options."
"This was a very unique project that consisted of different wood species, finishes, door styles, hardware, etc. We dealt with great customers that did their homework, received other estimates and assisted in making decisions when "the little details" had to be figured out. While we don't have a showroom or any fast-talking salespeople, we provided plenty of samples and common sense ideas to accomplish this project. We sat down with them and established a plan that would get their project done on time while considering other trades that would be involved. Since this was a kitchen cabinet project, we had to minimize the time that the customer's would be without a functioning kitchen. A date was set for us to remove and dispose of the existing cabinets. Other trades then followed and handled the repairs that needed to be addressed (floor tiles, electrical, plumbing, etc.). One week after we removed the cabinets, we began the installation and handled every last detail. When the appliances arrived days later, they fit perfectly to the custom cabinets that were made for them. The end result is a beautiful kitchen that functions flawlessly."
"Thank you for taking the time to write a review about your experience."
He built a custom 10' wall unit with built-in lighting, mirrors on back of some of the glass shelving and file drawers. He offered some options and ideas to help me think through the design. He works very hard to deliver on his customer desires. He met his delivery commitment and gave updates throughout the process. I have been so happy with his work that he is building a platform bed and wall/desk unit for me at the present. I would recommend him without reservation.
"This project achieved plenty of display areas while adding storage options and 8 file drawers. The end result was a clean contemporary look that didn't feature any door knobs. The high gloss laminated unit had doors that used push latches to open therefore the customer was able to receive what they envisioned when they contacted us. The process was pretty straight forward, we received an image of what they desired, we provided options and pricing and we built their custom piece. We appreciate the opportunity that was given to us and will continue to produce high end cabinetry for our customers."
"Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our company. The customer was great to work with - they followed our steps which are detailed on our website. They provided a sketch of what they wanted and we were able to provide an estimate and ultimately a great piece that will be enjoyed for many years. We kept communication throughout the project, as we always do. The 10' piece was stained to match their fireplace and really brought the room together. It was a pleasure working on this well designed piece."
If you are in the city, and need ANY woodworking projects (cabinets, storage, media centers etc..) call Robert first! Our experience with him was top notch, and we feel SO lucky to have found him. We will definitely continue to use him in the future.
"This was a fun and challenging project to work on. We had the angle of the stairs to deal with as well as a wooden post (support) that sat between the cabinetry. The key was creating a template of the stair area and also taking precise measurements. The end result was plenty of new storage options (26" deep drawers) with a clean modern angled look. The customers were amazing to work with and we were quickly able to agree on the concept of the project. We then designed it in a way that allowed us to deliver it in one piece (doorways/stairs) and thus eliminate on-site joinery for flawless results. This project is a good example of how important it is to pay special attention to all details. Being a small family owned business allows us to concentrate on every project until everything has been thought out. Many bigger woodworking businesses rely on various employees (salesman, project manager, foreman, etc.) to coordinate a project and unfortunately that's where involving many different persons leads to miscommunication. Our low overhead allows us to be competitive with our pricing and gives customers a "one on one" feeling throughout their project. Thank you for sharing your experience with others about our services."
We wanted a larger one made, that would match into our decor and break front
Robert was VERY helpful, courteous and always punctional
We were very satisfied with his professionalism and finished product
We highly recomend and will also use Robert in the future
"Thank you for the opportunity to work on your project and for taking the time to let Angie's List members know about your experience. The customer contacted us with a request to fabricate a large dining room table using birds-eye-maple materials. We discussed different styles of table legs, edge details (profiles), seating arrangements, etc. We incorporated steel supports on the underside of the piece for stability. Fabrication, finishing, and ultimately delivery went smoothly without any incidents. Overall, the piece was a delight to work on, the customer was kept informed throughout the process and will have an exquisite piece for many years to come."
"Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our company. The customers contacted us with a sketch of what they envisioned and we were able to provide them with an estimate based on it. Next, we met at their residence to go over details and take precise measurements. No unexpected changes came up during our visit so we honored our estimate and wrote up a contract. This job perfectly followed our process which is listed on our website. The customers were very helpful in tracking down the crown molding and paint color that was previously used in that room. As for details, we were able to catch a potential problem that would have risen during the installation. The original sketch showed a floor to ceiling dimension that was about 6" less than the actual room height. We pointed that out and made the proper adjustments prior to fabrication and the rest is history. The installation went smoothly as we had allowed for imperfections on one of the walls that would have created issues. Ultimately, we were able to deliver the product that was desired."
I live in a small space so wanted to design something that would look like a piece of furniture and hide the unsightly litter box.
First I was impressed with Robert's responsiveness and his punctuality throughtout all of the communcations and appointments. But lastly I was thrilled with the finished product. It is a beautiful piece of woodwork and is exactly what I had hoped for. I'm trying to think of other projects I can hire him for in the future.
"This was certainly an uncommon request for us. The customer was great to deal with since our initial conversation. They provided a picture of a similar piece of furniture that they liked, rough dimensions and an idea of a color that they envisioned. At that point we began discussions and met to select wood types and finishes. We tweaked the design slightly adding two exposed drawers (instead of having them behind doors). The furniture piece was "mitered" along the top and sides to avoid having any visible joinery while the wood grain followed a "waterfall edge" - showing the continuous wood grain throughout the piece. The end result was a modern piece that compliments the existing furniture and serves its intended purpose. Being a pet owner myself, I can relate to keeping our "little ones" content while trying to have our living space presentable."
"Thank you for the high ranking that you gave us. It's our goal to have every project completed on time and of high craftsmanship. Although this was not a huge project, we maintained contact and covered every detail to ensure a flawless product. We look forward to working with you on future projects."
We started out with a pretty good idea of the configuration we wanted, and Robert was great at helping us work out the many details to get us the layout we needed and the design we wanted. He invited us to his shop to review progress on the work and to resolve loose ends at appropriate points. He successfully researched hardware requirements and design details for some special pieces. We wanted a somewhat unusual finish on the wood, and Robert developed numerous custom stain samples until we found the right one.
Once design and fabrication were complete, the installation also was a great experience. Robert and his assistant completed the work in two days; the entire process went smoothly, with minimal noise and disruption.
The finished product is a wonderful addition to our home, generating many compliments from our friends and relatives. It satisfies both our functional needs and our aesthetic desires. Robert's excellent skills, along with his quiet manner, made this an ideal project. We couldn't be happier, and we highly recommend A-Squared Woodworking.
"The original concept that was desired was achieved with plenty of factors being worked out in between. We had to alter the original design because of a radiused wall and a wall that had 2 different depths. Once we knew exactly how much room we had to work with, we began to find specialty hardware that would allow for specific use of certain components - including a 51" keyboard, pull-out laptop shelf, etc. During the construction phase we met with the customer to brainstorm over wire management issues, fireplace and television details, etc. It was much easier at this point to make certain decisions because the unit was put together compared to looking at a drawing and trying to visualize details. This was an enjoyable project to work on specifically because constant communication was kept therefore no surprises came up."
agreed upon design and dimensions. He was honest about delivery time due to his other projects. When he was ready
to begin he brought over samples of color treated wood to insure match with existing pieces. He delivered the final pieces
and installed them.
Throughout the process Robetr was kind understanding, extremely knowledgeable and professional. I was a pleasure to
work with him.
He will be doing another custom piece for my living room. My daughter will also have him make pieces for her home.
I is gratifying to know that there are still such excellent craftsman available.
"(removed member name), Thank you for taking the time to write a review about our company. I also want to thank you for your patience, our lead times were a bit longer than usual when you hired us. This project was well thought out from the beginning. When we met initially, we brainstormed together and tweaked a couple of things to ensure a proper fit. Then, we concentrated on matching existing wood details and profiles so that the new pieces would blend right in to their new spaces. After that, it was a matter of fabricating the project with all the information that we had gathered. We used cherry material for the entire project and used "continuous wood grain" on the drawer fronts of the hutches. One of the things that separates A-Squared Woodworking from other companies is attention to details. A process such a machining drawer fronts can easily be overlooked, but allowing extra time to carefully machine these pieces pays off at the end. The difference that "continuous wood grain" provides is uncomparable. We also make our drawer boxes out of the same material as the project itself. The majority of companies make drawers out of thin maple or birch material and either leave them unfinished or simply apply a natural finish to them. We carefully stained every last item on this project and the end result is a quality looking job that will get many compliments for years to come. Thank you for trusting us with your project and for taking the time to write about your experience."
"I appreciate you taking the time to write a review about our company. The bookcases sure fit your unusual space rather well - that's where taking precise measurements really pays off. You now have plenty of space for your books and rest assured that these pieces were constructed to last. One of my favorite things on this job was the good grain on the walnut pieces. It complements the dark furniture in the room and is an attractive piece. Thank you for your business!"
A-Squared did a superior job with my kitchen cabinets and I couldn?t be happier! They were very helpful in showing us different wood samples. Our initial meeting was at our home. They took measurements of our kitchen and gave us very helpful suggestions for us to consider. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They then sent us drawings of the layout we decided on and set-up another meeting at our home where we worked out final details and changes to the layout. We kept constant contact with them, they were very easy to reach and they were always happy to answer all of our questions. They also went out of their way to find the very specific stain that we wanted on our cabinets. When they came to install our cabinets, they were very considerate of our home, laying down protector sheets for our floors. They cleaned up everything after themselves. They not only custom designed our cabinets, but we also wanted a bathroom door and basement door (which initiate from the kitchen) to match our cabinet?s wood and they were able to veneer these doors to match our cabinets. The veneer work on our doors and the crown molding around the cabinets is outstanding. It really makes our kitchen stand out! They also installed lighting under the cabinets which really helps our countertops stand out. I am very impressed with their service and can't say enough good things about this company. After getting various estimates from other companies, A-Squared was the most reasonable and they produced high quality work that really exceeded our expectations. I am extremely satisfied and highly recommend this company.
"It was a pleasure working on your project. We took all your input and gave you a layout that is functional and includes your organizers, etc. We started off by adding extra depth to your upper cabinets (as well as height), adding a lazy susan, garbage can pull-out, wine glass storage and double access to your peninsula. When we first spoke I emphasized that nothing was store bought - everything would be made in our workshop and that we would use the same wood species "throughout" your project. Sapele was used inside and out of your cabinets, moldings (crown, casing and base), dovetailed drawers, etc. I'm also glad that we veneered the 2 full size oak doors - I think it brings the kitchen together. Overall, I feel that plenty was achieved given the size of this kitchen and it will definitively attract attention from visitors. Thank you for your business."
"It was a pleasure working for your family. The cabinetry truly completes your fireplace surround. The dark walnut tones look incredible next to your brick wall. This job showed how well a project can be executed with proper planning and precise measuring. The "not-so-perfect" field conditions were accounted for in the design process, therefore the installation was simplified and the overall result looked flawless. The cherry tables have an elegant design and will last many years for sure. The wood grain stands out beautifully and the reddish cherry color will continue to mature with age. Thank you for taking the time to share your review - it is greatly appreciated."
Robert and his crew were awesome they did a beautiful job with the installation. They cleaned up after themselves and made sure everything was perfect.
There was an issue with the old box cabinet drawer that Robert fixed at no extra charge.
I am recommending A- Squared Woodworking to friends and clients whenever I can.
"Thank you for the kind words. It was a pleasure working with you and your clients. The project was run professionally since the beginning and they will enjoy their remodeled kitchen for years to come. The design (especially the choice of backsplash) is tremendous. I appreciate the opportunity that was given and look forward to continuing to provide quality services for customers. Robert N."
