This provider made a total of 3 service calls to my home over a 45 day period of time to troubleshoot and repair my residential furnace. The first HVAC service person was woefully undertrained and did not provide an adequate answer to the problem. When I called the provider the next day they explained the technician was relatively new to servicing, and typically did sheet metal construction for new installations. The provider agreed I would not be charged for a second service call due to the lack of professionalism of the original technician. I was told they would contact me to schedule a follow up appointment.
After waiting 2 weeks I called back an requested a follow up appointment as the problem had not been fixed. A second technician arrived several days later and in 15 minutes claimed to have traced the problem to as bad connection of a circuit board in the furnace. Satisfied the problem was fixed, we left our home for a 1 month vacation in Florida and asked our neighbor to look in on the house weekly to assure all was well.
Less than 1 week into our vacation, I received a call from our neighbor saying the furnace was not operating properly. I called the provider and asked that a technician be sent to repair the problem. Received a call the next day from the technician saying the thermostat was defective and was replaced. Approximately 2 days later got a call from the neighbor checking the house saying the floor in the hallway was a mess from the technician walking about without cleaning or removing their shoes/boots. I was surprised by this as I had seen other write ups by customers saying how the technician(s) went to great lengths to remove their footwear and/or wear protective booties in the house.
I'm disappointed in 2 areas. 1, that it took 3 service calls to finally fix the issue, and 2 that the technician left a mess behind without bothering to clean it up or make me aware that the floor needed to be cleaned.
He came back the next day, apologized, and continued the work. Coincidentally, HE had a personal appointment for which he had to drop everything and leave for an hour and a half. This was my second day off of work to babysit the plumber, but his appointment couldn't be rescheduled. hmmm.
Once he thought he was finished, I asked why he wasn't replacing the corroded drain. Everything was replaced; why not the drain. He didn't plan on it. Really? 3/4 of a job? Ahhhh, once again, a scheduling issue. He had to be somewhere in an hour. He thought better of it, and made a phone call. In the meantime, I was taking pictures of my bathroom floor, counter, and bedroom carpet, and the horrible use of a drop cloth. In other words, why bother with the drop cloth?
It's done. There is a small leak somewhere that comes through my ceiling below. I am taking care of the problem, no thanks to Grasser's.
This is truly unfortunate because I have used Grasser's services for furnace and my water heater. Those were both satisfactory experiences. This, however, far from satisfactory.
The technician had written down the wrong model number, so they had not ordered the blower. (I bought the tank from them). I read off the model number and explained that I was upset that not a single person contacted me about the problem. I got a call from the parts man saying he had ordered it and it would be in Monday, to be installed Tuesday. It wasn't. No call either. Thursday they called and installed the part. Then I get a bill for $102.18! $99. to flush the tank and $2.99 plus tax for the vinegar! Good news is my husband paid attention and we can flush the tank in the future ourselves.
The furnace was located in the kitchen. It made a terrible mess but they laid tarps and cleaned it all up before they left. There was a problem with the way they did the electrical but they came back on their own and fixed it.
