Auto Service
$600

John Graf was rude and insensitive to the fact that my mother and i were stranded with 2 small children.  He demanded his $85 fee before he worked on the vechicle.  I told him i would pay him upon the van being completed.  When he returned with the van we got in and went to his office to pay him the $505 he had said.  We had received no phone calls of additional services needed to be performed or additional cost that would be required.  We had no reason to assume the price would be higher.  He handed me his bill for 643.08.   I questioned him on the cost and he said he had to replace a filter, clamp, hose, and i also had lost 4-5 gallons of gas he said was contaminated.  This was Labor Day weekend, so i understand a slight increase in cost, but i feel like John was completly unreasonable.  I told him I would like to see the receipt for the fuel pump.  He said the invoice and store number are on my receipt.  I again demanded to see the receipt.  He held it in his hand with the price side folded over.   I grab the paper from him and unfolded it.  He became upset.  He said  "the price is my buisness."  The price for the fuel pump was approx $125 and he charged me $221.15.  I asked him if he thought he was being fair and he replied "I am in the money making business."    He would not provide me a copy of the fuel pump receipt or a reciept for the fuel filter, hose, or clamps.  He knew i wouldnt know wheteher those things were necessary or not.  asked his hourly rate and he me it was $92 an hour for a holiday weekend and regularly appox $85 an hour.   The total labor was $361.   We debated over the bill and he told me he would take $600 and if it wasnt paid he was keeping the van.  I had no choice, as i was from out of state.  I had to borrow the money.
John knew i had no knowledge of auto mechanics and noone was with me who did .  He took advantage of the situation.

He was not friendly.  He talked rudely to me and treated me without respect.    I would never go back to him for a repair.
