AWFUL JOB! Ray didn't start for more than 2 months after signing the contract. He had 2 good references & was nice at first. Two apprentices did most of the work, showing up 2-3 days/wk, staying only about 3-4 hours. Ray was constantly absent due to personal issues & got very annoyed when I asked him about delays. We haven t seen Ray since Nov. We tried to find out when he would come to finish the work but until we threatened legal action, he didn t respond. He eventually (angrily) agreed to return on March 1 but didn t show or contact us. At this point, I do not want him back in my home for any reason. The whole job was to take 6-8 weeks but after nearly 2 months of work , less than half the job was done AND Ray has more than 3/4 of our money, plus payment for custom doors still in his possession. Four contractors have quoted to finish the job and all have commented on the poor quality of work. I would never hire or recommend Ray Mogensen or Straight Line Home Improvement to ANYONE.
Description of Work: Ray Mogensen was to finish our basement with paint, electrical, ceiling, walls, install hardware floor, stairs and stair rails to our family room. Actual work performed was only in the basement. They framed, did drywall, painting and rough electrical wiring in addition to the installation of a PERGO floor. All work was substandard and NOTHING was done to completion. Drywall was poorly installed and is bumpy, there are actual gaps in some corners. Painting is sloppy such as ceiling paint is splashed on walls, crooked ceiling lines and spots where drywall shows through. According to comments from 2 other contractors, it appears that the paint was applied with dirty rollers. The baseboard trim was only partially completed and is not straight. The PERGO floor was installed incorrectly, not to the manufacturer s specifications. Though Ray represented himself to me as a PERGO endorsed installer, I confirmed directly with the company that he is NOT.
