We had a terrible, stressful experience with Sexton Home Improvement and Repairs, Inc. We terminated their employment because they did not follow building code when working on our home. We are relieved that another company working on our home caught the violation. It is upsetting that the financial integrity and safety of our home was jeopardized. They also constructed a very unlevel subfloor that had to be corrected. Rather than acknowledge or apologize for this error, excuses were made saying that the new subfloor ¨matched¨ the outer edges of the existing floor. A properly built floor will be level from one end all the way to the other, not just on the outside edges. This is a basic expectation of good workmanship. We were disappointed that even after showing the Sextons multiple pictures of the unlevel floor, the messy releveling process, and paid receipts, they still denied it was unlevel. Additional problems with this company included contradictory time frames for job completion. This created a lot of confusion for us about the job scope and estimate. Additionally, receipts for the ¨approximated materials allowance¨ were never submitted to us. This was troubling as the job was not completed, and we had to purchase the remaining materials to finish the job. These faulty jobs cost us: extra money, extra time to correct, added mess and inconvenience plus loss of trust in their company. Their lack of communication before termination (over a week) also added to this loss of trust. We have worked with numerous companies in the past, and this is the first negative review we have posted. We believe it is important to share our experience and reasons for not recommending this company.

I cannot say enough about Sexton Home Improvements for the deck they built for us! From the bid process, advice on selection of materials, installation, and quality of work the team at Sexton did a job I have been extremely satisfied with. This family business takes pride in working with a customers and providing an excellent finished product for a price which was very reasonable.

Very well. Bob and his crew were excellent. They reinforced the joists, replaced the decking with Trex and installed decorative screen panels on the bottom of the balconies. Their work was excellent and very precise. They always were prompt, friendly and cleaned up thoroughly each day. My only negative was that they weren't here every day for work. What should have taken 2 weeks took a month because sometimes they were only here a day or 2 a week (some can be blamed on weather, but some wasn't). But overall we are very happy and would hire Bob again without hesitation.

Absolutely fantastic! This was a VERY difficult project consisting of 60 stairs with 5 different platforms. The ground grade was very steep and what was left of the old stairs and dock was not even safe to walk on. Great Job guys! Thank you.

They replaced all my floors in my house and did incredible job. Love walking them everyday. The hired them again to build me a devk upstairs they make all my neighbors jealous. Please hire the small business they do really good work.

They had to come back & finish the green crap on the siding & I was told they did a fast job, I wasn’t there to see them work, I will not use your service again as I think they could have done a much better job on the gutters, they still looked stained from before hand & I think they could have done a much better job on the whole project!! I was disappointed with your service!! You should come back in the spring & complete it all over again!

In this instance the mold on the exterior of your home and gutters had been present such an extended period of time that it was more difficult than usual to remove. In addition you requested specifically that we not use harsh products to remove said mold in an effort to maintain the integrity of the material. We did our best to remove the mold with standard methods first and then made arrangements to come back to finish the job with your feedback to be sure. However, you were not available to assist the direction as promised, and we had to do our best to remove the mold without your necessary feedback, while also not compromising your initial requests. We have to be conservative to be safe in a situation like that. Of course we still went back again to finish what we started despite everything.We feel we did a quality job when all was said and done, going out of our way to make special accommodations twice. We hope you will reconsider your negative review given the circumstances. In addition we hope you will give us another chance to prove the quality of our work again in the future.
