Auto Service
I called the shop on a Wednesday afternoon, (about 1:00pm), to inquire about a loud engine noise and engine not staying running. The owner "Shawn" told me right away to not try to run the engine anymore and took directions to where I was and came out and towed me back to his shop. After we got to his shop, he asked me everything that happened and then took a quick look at the truck and said he was pretty sure the engine had a bearing go out and was bad, but with no oil light on he wanted to look into it a little further before making the final diagnosis. He even gave me a ride home (15-20 mins each way), and said he would call me when he got some more information and an estimate. He ended up calling me about 4:30pm later that day and confirmed that the engine was bad, which he had allready figured, but he found out why and found a few factory service bulletins for updates to help prevent this from happening in the future. Then he told me he uses a company for remanufactured engines and transmissions that also reviews the factory service bulletins and rebuilds all of their engines and transmissions using these updates, and he also informed me that they had an engine in stock and there was still time to order it for the next days delivery. He informed me that the company offers a 3 year 100,000 mile nationwide warranty the even includes towing and car rental. He told me the cost for the engine and the labor to install it and all the necessary parts that went along with an engine replacement would be $5,500, and he said that if I wanted him to go ahead and order the engine he would but he would need me to pay a deposit (the cost of the motor) before he could start the job just becuase of the high cost of the engine which is totally understandable, I told him to order the engine. I had been calling around to get a general idea of a price for an engine replacement while I was waiting for him to call me and I called three places including 1 dealership and he was cheaper than the dealership by almost $2,000 and he was about $600 cheaper than one of the shops, but the last shop I called was about $3,000 cheaper but that was for a junkyard motor with a 30 day warranty on the engine only from the junkyard and no coverage on labor or towing or anything else. He called me back and said the engine would be delivered the next day before noon and I told him I would come to his shop with the deposit before noon that same day also. I made it to his shop about 11:00am the next day and the engine was allready there. He thanked me for the deposit and told me that he would get started on it first thing Friday morning. Well I got a phone call in the middle of the night with a family emergency that I would need to be out of town for on Saturday, but I had no vehicle to get there with. I called the shop about 9:00am and told them what had happened and he said that he wouldn't be done by closing time, he apologized and offered to help me line-up a rental car if I needed one. I told him it was ok and I would make other arrangements. I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon calling around to see what my options were and about 4:00pm I got a call from the shop and he said things were going better than planned and he asked if I had made any arrangements yet and I told him I hadn't yet, he then told me to hold off because he was going to stay after until the truck was finished, he said it might be late but he would call when it is done and I told him I was very grateful for this and would leave him alone to finish the truck. He called me later on that night about 10:15pm and to let me know the truck was done and he had finished the test drive and everything was good and even offered to come to my house and pick me up in it and bring me back to the shop. I told him sure and he did. We got back to the shop and went over everything on the bill and all the warranty information and paperwork and I paid him the rest of the bill and drove the truck home. I left the next day early and put almost 1000 miles on the truck that weekend and didn't have a single problem at all with anything!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't thank him enough for going the extra mile to help me out in a pinch!!!!!!!!!!!!!
