DUCT BUSTERS

The owner, and to my knowledge, sole employee Lee is a con artist. Period. We called for a duct cleaning and were then told we need the gas line replaced and a full crawlspace encapsulation. The duct cleaning itself was fine, so we trusted the rest of the work also needed cared for. Over the course of 6 weeks, Lee would show up for an hour at a time, say hed be back out on a specific day and then avoid all calls or texts. Each time he showed up, he asked for money up front, and cashed his check within an hour. When he finally "completed" his work, he left as quickly as he could before we could inspect everything. Six weeks and over $4,000 later, our vents and crawlspace are in worse shape than before he started anything. He will not answer calls unless called from a different number. Do not hire this man.

Lee was originally called for duct cleaning and 1 duct repair. That turned into several ducts need repaired, turned into gas line needs repaired, turned into you need to encapsulate your crawlspace. Lee would avoid calls, would have to call him from other lines to get him to come out, constantly leaving for "emergencies", no call no shows over and over. Would show up for an hour of work and then leave. He verbally and in person said we were paying for a crawlspace encapsulation. I should have doublechecked his receipt before he left. he re-wrote it as vapor barrier but didn't even do that properly. There are holes everywhere, almost none of the posts have barrier up them. almost none of the side walls, no layers are sealed together, trash everywhere, entire sections undone. Asks for the money up front, cashes it minutes later and kept finding more "problems" that required more payments. In my opinion, would never hire him for anything ever again. This is Duct Busters out of Mattoon IL, owner and worker Lee Paden hired for an Oakland IL job. Spent close to 4k in work, for 6 weeks of h*** to get him to finish. When finished, it is a complete mess and horribly unprofessional looking job in my opinion. Tried to call him to get our money back, but wont, and wants to "fix it". I don't want him touching anything under my house again. I just want him to give the money for the work he didn't finish.

Duct work had to be replaced: used substandard materials hidden in walls/under floors and damaged them severely during installation. Vents shoddily cut into walls. Copper tubing crimped on air conditioner keeping unit from operating properly. Didn't wrap pipes, so condensation dripped through the ceiling and into light fixtures. Refused to answer/return phone calls. No permanent listed address. Much of work had to be re-done by another firm. Improper installation of a window with extremely shoddy carpentry work inside and outside.
