The work was fine - the bathroom was gutted down to the studs and slowly the bathroom was transformed. We purchased all of the fixtures ahead of time (stool, sink, tile, faucet, lights etc) so these were already on site. The work was concluded on schedule and the finished bathroom was very nice. 15 months later, we noticed the downstairs bathroom ceiling was soft and wet to the touch. Also noted that there were water marks on the side walls of the downstairs bathroom. As luck would have it, the contractor was building a sun room for me and was on site. I mentioned that "I think we have a leak coming from the upstairs bathroom". His remark was that he could take a look and perhaps save me a plumbing bill. Three days went by and he never got around to checking for the leak - so I cut a 18x16 piece of ceiling out of the downstairs bathroom and the ceiling drywall was covered in mold. Indicating that the leak had been there for a while. The dry wall was very moist. I called a plumber the next day and after looking at the cooper pipes that the contractor had put in for the newly remodeled bathroom he found that 2 of the joints were not soldered. Indicating that water had been dripping since completion - 15 months earlier. I then found out that the contractor was not a licensed plumber and should have never performed the task of putting in new pipes. The plumber corrected the issue and notified the city plumbing inspector. 5 days later we found another leak - it too had more than likely been there since the remodel. I called the contractor and requested that he call me back so that we could get the new leak fixed - to this day (5 weeks) he has never called back. I have since had to have the entire shower floor ripped up along with the 2 inches of concrete, the mortar, rubber membrane and first layer of wall tiles. The new contractor found several mistakes in the original work and is now in the process of correcting them. The cost of correcting this mistake is now an additional 3 thousand dollars. I notified my attorney in hopes of having the original contractor be made responsible for the cost of the repairs. We then learned that the contractor was in the process of repaying a suit that was brought by a local lumber yard and it could be years before we we able to get any reimbursement. The city plumbing inspector came several days later to take pictures of the work and was very apologetic for the trouble we encountered. He reiterated to me that the contractor has no plumbing license and should never have been allowed to perform remodeling activity that involved plumbing or electrical work. The contractor who performed the original work is very talented and I was very happy with the visible work - it is the work I could not see until it was too late that I am dissatisfied with - along with his inability to followup and 'do the right thing'
Description of Work: Remodeled an upstairs bathroom - removed tub and created a walk in shower. Performed plumbing and electrical

This was a good experience, especially considering some previous experiences I've had with very bad contractors. I contacted Jeremy by telephone to explain the problem, and he stopped by to give a free estimate. He seemed friendly and professional, which was definitely a positive. After fine-tuning the specifics of the job and revising the estimate accordingly, we set the date for May 12. He showed up on time with the necessary materials and an assistant. The job went fairly smoothly, although it partly had to be completed the next day simply because some things needed to finish drying first, and it was already around 5 pm. He returned the next day and finished the remainder of the project. I am quite happy with the end result. The floor is stronger than it was even before the damage. The drywall was installed in a more secure fashion, and he added some insulation in a spot where there was none (though there should have been). If you are looking for someone that does a good job and has a good attitude, you might consider Jeremy Crispin from Crispin Residential Remodeling and Repair.
Description of Work: Jeremy replaced a section of subfloor in the utility room, as well as replacement of some damaged drywall. He also replaced some outside moulding around a door frame, and replaced an outside light fixture.
